If I can find the referring articles again brown, I'll post them. Those recessive genes are interesting, and explain a lot!

brownstag · 02/04/2014 08:10

Right, I have taken letrozole this morning for my last ever superovulation cycle. I had intended to go for a scan for this cycle but we are going to be on holiday and I haven't got time to waste waiting for another cycle. So I won't know how many follies there are or aren't but at the end of the day, it doesn't change anything.
On day 25 I shall be 43 years old and it will also probably be about 10dpo and I will know whether it's worked.
Everything's being thrown at this cycle: letrozole, pred, hydroxy, DHEA, melatonin, l-arginine, evening primrose oil, flax oil, 5mg folid acid.
And after that I'm going to cut it all out except for melatonin. Roll on the day when I don't have to take 100 tablets. Except I'll have to take 100 tablets for my hair loss instead.
Ari, I went to the docs and she said the hair loss is certainly caused by the DHEA so no point in testing for anything. She said it wouldn't be my thyroid as hair loss is not a primary presenting feature of thyroid problems; I would have other symptoms. Plus it was normal last year and it doesn't change quickly.
How are you doing?
And how is everyone else?

duggs1976 · 02/04/2014 11:01

Best of luck brown. Even without SO you have as much of a chance as is just a booster. Ari how are you doing today? I have just come back from first harmony scan at fetal medicine centre. Baby measuring bang on 10wk+3 and all good with some nice photos, including freaky 4D one. Pebbles and belly how are you doing ?? What is next? Sue how about you is DH away this month?

suemays · 02/04/2014 11:24

Well done duggs looks like it is finally happening for you!
Yes DH is away this month so would be a miracle if I got a bfp as we last dtd on day 11.

brown good luck with your last SO cycle. I will be 42 on Friday so not far in age behind you!

Arianrhod · 02/04/2014 11:28

Huge good luck brown, it would be just fantastic if this cycle worked after everything. Absolutely the DHEA made my hair fall out - and it's not thyroid issues that has this as a side effect, but adrenal problems. But if you haven't got any of the other side effects of adrenal problems (cold and very tired all the time, waking up at silly o'clock, etc) then I imagine DHEA is the problem.

duggs Fabulous scan news, so good to hear!! I laughed at your comment about the freaky 4D scan - I've always thought they're a bit peculiar too (but may get one myself if we get that far, just for the weirdness of it :) ).

I'm good, feeling vaguely nauseous a lot of the time which of course could mean nothing at all, I have a finicky tummy at the best of times. I'll be a bit quiet for the next few days as we've decamped down to OH's sister's flat at the south coast for a brief holiday and there's very little signal here. Will try to keep up with everyone's news whenever we go to a cafe with free wifi :)

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Mel3062 · 02/04/2014 12:40

Fabulous news duggs!! Brown good luck x

OP posts:
Pebbles73 · 02/04/2014 13:32

Belly hope you get a good scan Friday, is this still your trial cycle?

Brown wishing you lots of luck for this cycle, you are certainly giving it everything you can.

Duggs amazing news!! I bet you can't believe it! How is the nausea?

Ari I am waiting with baited breath to see what your scan shows next week.

I am waiting for af which is due in about a week and have my sample bottle at the ready! Is three weeks on Friday until we go to Athens so not long at all really!!

Waves to everyone.

brownstag · 02/04/2014 14:18

Thanks Pebbles and everyone.
Duggs, I'm just so pleased with the way things are working out for you. I suppose because I've met you in person and totally identified with all the ups and downs, it's so wonderful to hear that all those months/years of anxiety are finally paying off. As to 4d scans, we had one at 26 weeks, and it's spooky how the baby actually looks like that scan when they finally arrive.
Sue, what day do you normally ovulate? If the average day of 14, you're still in with a decent chance.
Have a good holiday, Ari! I may not get to check MN while we're away next week, so good luck.

BellyD · 02/04/2014 15:10

Brown best of luck with this month's cycle. You definitely will have done all you can, so keeping fingers crossed for you.

Great news on your scan Duggs - wonderful news, like Pebbles said - are you in a state of disbelief? This is going to be your turn I am sure of it.

Ari enjoy your break, will be checking in to see how you are getting on. Good luck for your scan next week.

Pebbles so glad to hear there is not long to go until you head to Greece. Ari's progress must be filling you with a great deal of hope.

Sue Happy Birthday for Friday - we are almost twins, I am 42 on Monday. Day 11 may well be fine...you never know.

Mel hope you are getting

BellyD · 02/04/2014 15:14

Oops posted too soon!

Mel hope you are getting on ok and coping with all the treatments/drugs - are you on the 2ww?

We fly to Spain for 9 days tomorrow - arghhh! Have to have a scan of my womb lining on Friday and praying it has thickened up enough. Then we should create the embryos Fri or Sat to be popped back in next week sometime. My folks and sister are coming out too, so we are making a holiday of it and hopefully, as my cousin's wife put it, bringing an extra passenger with us on the way home. Will keep you posted as much as I can x

duggs1976 · 02/04/2014 17:04

Wow belly it sounds fab making a holiday of it. I love that idea...best of luck for lining. Mel yes how are you getting along?pebbles so pleased the wheels are in motion now....

Mel3062 · 02/04/2014 21:06

Thanks ladies day 20 for me so 2ww.

Been Liverpool uni with daughter today so shattered!!

brownstag · 03/04/2014 08:07

Have a brilliant and successful time, Belly. I love holidays with family; so much more relaxing x
Mel, good luck. I'd be testing already by now ;)

Mel3062 · 03/04/2014 10:56

I've just slipped at work and landed on my arm and nearly fainted so they insisted on taking me docs and bringing me home!

OP posts:
VillageMum · 03/04/2014 12:51

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind if I pop in while doing SO. Lots of familiar names from the ttc on prednisolone thread here... duggs and ari, I'm so thrilled for you both! Brown, very best of luck for this SO cycle! And Sue, best of luck to you too. Really hope that cd11 still turns out to have been within range.Belly, thinking of you for your scan on Friday. Pebbles, Greece seems to be the place to go for success!! Mel that sounds painful - are you ok?

I'm on the 2ww now in superovulation cycle 5. Just hope this is the one. I'm eating black grapes by the bucketload for the resveratrol! Think someone above mentioned drinking red wine, but am avoiding alcohol at the moment so sadly that isn't an option. Does anyone know about the wisdom of taking a resveratrol supplement in the 2ww? I think I may be going a little potty here...

Mel3062 · 03/04/2014 13:25

Good luck village. Thanks yes my arm and back is very painful and sore and boss was concerned incase I was preg x

OP posts:
duggs1976 · 03/04/2014 13:52

Poor you Mel rest up! Brown and Ari are the queens of supplements village they know everything so am sure will reply with some wisdom...

Mel3062 · 03/04/2014 13:54

Thanks duggs really sore! Just feel an idiot in front of all the kids!!

OP posts:
brownstag · 03/04/2014 14:15

Poor Mel. You do feel such a fool don't you? I fell down the stairs last years and broke my toe and I was far more worried about what an idiot I looked than my fractured digit. (Can toes be digits too ...?)
I'm afraid resveratrol is about the only thing I don't take, Village, but I can't see why it would be a problem in the 2ww. Ari is on hol at the moment, so I'm not sure if she'll see this, but I would have thought she takes it all the time. I was about to start taking it when I went on my drive to eliminate supplements (but since I was told not to bother with IVF they've increased exponentially).

brownstag · 03/04/2014 14:15

And good luck with cycle no 5. It was the lucky one for me, conceiving-wise at least.

VillageMum · 03/04/2014 15:46

Thanks brown, mel, duggs - I really hope cycle 5 is the one; so far I'm having less luck with SO than I usually have getting pregnant naturally!

brown my reservation about resveratrol (quite a tongue twister, that!) is it's derived from Japanese knotweed, and I wonder if swallowing knotweed can be a good thing if you're possibly pregnant...? Feels peculiar to be considering necking something I usually spend hours pulling out of my flowerbeds!

mel rest up!

Arianrhod · 04/04/2014 09:54

Morning ladies, got a bit of wifi at the moment so trying to catch up a bit.

mel Hope you're ok after your fall, and not hurting too much!

belly love your holiday plans, hope you bring back an extra passenger :) Lots of luck for your trip!

village Welcome! Yes I take resveratrol all the time, right through - 200mg twice daily. It is supposed to lower TNFa and help lower NK cells generally, Penny recommends it.

pebbles Not long to wait, it's great to have a plan in place and see te days whizzing by! :) Are you getting a bit excited yet? :)

sue Happy birthday for tomorrow, and belly for Monday. :)

brown Still crossing fingers for this cycle for you :)

AFM, well not good news I'm afraid (sorry to bring the good vibes of the thread down). Woke up at 4:30 this morning to find I was bleeding, about a couple of teaspoons' worth (sorry for TMI) and more on getting up this morning, as well as a small clot. No cramps or anything, but it really looks like it's all happening again, and I've no idea why. :( I've emailed Penny to see what she says but I guess we won't know for definite until the scan on Wed. We're still down at the coast so I can't go for any blood tests or scan even if it were worth it. I can't believe this is all going wrong after such a strong start. :(

VillageMum · 04/04/2014 10:10

Ari hang in there - will Penny reply today do you think? Really hoping the scan on Wednesday shows that it's nothing sac-related. A few other ladies seem to have had bleeding from haematomas which resolved themselves - everything crossed that this is something similar! Thinking of you xx

Arianrhod · 04/04/2014 10:39

Thanks village - yes, Penny replied pretty much straightaway, I don't know how she gets the time! She says she's not concerned about the bleeding and it's something they see very often, she's just told me to stop the baby aspirin. I don't know how she stays so amazingly calm .. I am still worried anyway!

Pebbles73 · 04/04/2014 13:30

Happy Birthday Sue & Belly! Hope your scan goes well Belly and have a lovely break.

Mel hope you are ok today and not to bruised.

Welcome to the thread Village, I used to be on the pred thread as Free is my best friend from when we were at school. I can only get pregnant with ivf, never had a natural one so felt more comfortable over here.
Good luck with the super ov, should really take some resveratrol as I have high tnf alpha levels. Have been doing all this for so long that I have got lazy about taking stuff...

What a nightmare for you Ari, can imagine how worried you are but it could be a simple explanation. I had a lot of bleeding at beggining of lady pregnancy and then it stopped and hcg went up, think it was a vanishing twin as the hcg dipped. Keeping all crossed for you, hang in there.
