So if anyone's got cash to burn and time to kill, do feel free to buy some Numark tests. They are 2 for £3.75, early result ones up to 4 days before your period is due. I'd be interested to know if it's just me!

Mel3062 · 27/08/2013 16:00

Brown fingers crossed for you x pebbles please would you mind sending me approx cost of the ivf, I'm considering it as dont feel I can wait another year/ 18 months is that silly??

Buzzybee123 · 27/08/2013 16:26

pebbles looking good :)

brown whispering congrats

duggs1976 · 27/08/2013 17:20

Fabulous! I have done a lot of research into HCG levels at 14 dpo and prediction for on going pregnancies. It is really something that I believe is under used in this country. No one in America takes their pregnancy as confirmed until they get a beta HCG. Would save a hell of a lot of mentalling if same were true here. Well done pebbles. Where did u get it done in the end? Oh and brown...?.

OP posts:
brownstag · 27/08/2013 18:58

Definitely premature congrats everyone, I think, as these are the dodgy tests I used before! But thanks anyway Grin. We'll see tomorrow I suppose.
The only caveat I would add about hCG levels, and I feel very bad saying this, is that I am fairly sure if I'd have had my hCG levels checked in my last but one pregnancy, it would have lulled me into a false sense of security, since a) it was a girl, with often higher hCG, and b) it was a Down's pregnancy, which also have often double normal levels. Or maybe that would have flagged it up early? Who knows? Normal levels vary so widely that I doubt anyone would have come out and pointed out that my hCG was abnormally high, in the absence of anything else to indicate Down's at that point, or maybe they would???

duggs1976 · 27/08/2013 19:57

Well from what I've read downs is usually extremely high like you said. Also they look at doubling rate so that is a good indicator too. Fingers crossed for tomorrow brown - throw the dodgy sticks Confused

Thanks for the link Ari couldn't get on website either but found a site where somebody had copied a chart over. It seems I should be between 5-to around 480. NLC came back to me re progesterone levels and said they are perfect at 265.3. Fingers crossed bleeding has let up today so just have to do blood test Thursday.

Also thanks for details as well Duggs, work near Gerrards Cross so Marlow fairly close but think I may have found a place in the village I work in. Had it done at NLC today but will go locally Thursday.

Brown hope it is not the dodgy tests and good luck for testing tomorrow.

Mel not had time too frightened to total it all up! I would say in the region of £8k including everything but I can pm you a break down tomorrow showing price of drugs, procedures, blood tests etc.

brownstag · 27/08/2013 22:04

Fantastic Pebbles. (I couldn't access that site either incidentally. Not holding my breath for tomorrow Grin) x

brownstag · 28/08/2013 06:11

Bah!

duggs1976 · 28/08/2013 06:15

These below links are to retrospective studies carried out to try to establish the relationship between early 14dpo or 16 dpo beta HCG levels and ongoing pregnancy and live birth.

Of course they are averages but quite useful at early stages.

Oh bugger Brown!!

Thanks for the info Duggs, had to get up and out early this morning as 8am meeting in London. Neatly cancelled but knew I would feel to guilty if I did. Feel like I want to just lie on sofa and not move but I guess it will do what it's going to do regardless...

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 08:08

Brown :( bin those bloody tests!!
Umm £8000 maybe not then as lucies off to uni now so need to raise £10,000 for that as she can't get a grant for the first year. I thought she'd go next year so I feel the pressures on even more :(
Good luck today pebbles x

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 10:01

What are your thoughts on dhea? Still considering taking these from my drawer!!

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 10:13

Also just seen a new first response fertility test £50,don't know if I'd scare myself if I bought that!!

brownstag · 28/08/2013 10:44

I've just restarted DHEA, just 10mg, to see how much I can tolerate before the acne starts. I've already got some small pimples ... I feel good though, as when I took higher doses. Personally I feel compared with some of the heavy-duty things that you ladies have been taking, like Humira and high does of steroids, it's really quite risk free and you can always stop it if you don't like it.
Now, here's a question I suddenly thought of last night.
I would really like to freeze some eggs because by the time I've finally managed to persuade my OH to do IVF, I'll be menopausal probably. Is this feasible/likely to be of any help at 42, do you think? Presumably to do this I would have to take most of the fertility drugs involved in IVF? Also, if I don't get any eggs, which is a distinct possibility I feel, I would at least know where I stand, and like Sue, would be better off doing superovulation.
What kind of fertility test is it, Mel? AMH?

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 10:54

Yes, I can't find it now :/ I know I'm premenopausal so guess I don't need that, it just says if its positive to seek medical help anyway!
My dhea is 25mg from euro vital so not sure if its micronised. Is it to improve egg quality? Maybe ill take one tonight... Sorry for your bfn brown :(

brownstag · 28/08/2013 10:59

I just found the fertility test on their website and it's like an ovulation test, measuring FSH. So no benefit in buying it, you might as well have a day 3 blood test which gives you a much better idea and you don't have to scrutinise and compare 2 lines. I daren't have another FSH test; last time it was 9.7, just under the magic 10, so I'm sure it's over that now and don't want to know.
I would take the DHEA in the morning.

brownstag · 28/08/2013 11:01

Yes, meant to improve egg quality, but since the baby I conceived on it had Down's, god knows what my eggs were like before taking it!

brownstag · 28/08/2013 11:02

Also, there's a cheaper version of the FSH test on Amazon; and you get 2 sticks, for about £7. I used it before and it doesn't really tell you much.

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 11:06

Thanks brown yes I'd rather not know. Ill take my dhea ;) do you take it all cycle?
May buy some first response ovulation tests instead, I'm getting desperate ;) x

brownstag · 28/08/2013 11:40

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150336218610?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Get these; far cheaper and identical to those supplied to the NHS.

ChoccyPud · 28/08/2013 11:56

Clearblue do a very posh digital ov test that measures fsh as well as the usual ?oestrogen. Sorry I'm blanking on the one they all test. Anyway it gives a O or :) for high fertility days or flashing :) for peak fertility days. None of the messing around with two lines.

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 12:04

Thanks ladies I had a clear blue moniter for a year and still didn't conceive :(

Mel3062 · 28/08/2013 12:06

Brown I have those yes they're good I'll dig them out!
