interesting blog post from a mother of a DS daughter who was blasted by a 5-10 minute diatribe containing all the old stereotypes about people with DS at a Frakie Boyle show. I'm turning off any TV show he's on in future.

blog here

Grauniad article on it here

oh I get it now, poor cow

Spoof · 15/04/2010 18:49

Or maybe they shape their policies around the majority view, and around what they think is best for the country?

Standing up and saying something vile does not make a person brave. Far from it. It says many other things, but not that they are brave.

It's not spineless to welcome other cultures and people who are different. Quite the opposite.

Blackduck · 15/04/2010 18:50

ahh I see (I thought it was the ass.....)

Defluff · 15/04/2010 22:32

Was an interesting discussion. Then DP took over as per usual.

Riven - your dignity astounds me. When you questioned would dp find it ok to laugh at your dd it made me cry. Thank you for posting on what must have been a horrible thread for you (and any right thinking person). I think you are truly inspiring.

AuntieMaggie · 15/04/2010 22:45

Gigantaur - some of FB stuff was funny, some of it wasn't, and there wasn't much about sn really so don't worry.

My DP likes him too but even he said he went a bit far on some stuff.

"AuntieMaggie cos if the parents find that kind of humour funny, what will they be teaching thier kids at home??"

IMO comedy doesn't necessarily reflect what you actually believe. I find lots of things funny, doesn't have anything to do with what I teach my kids at home! Otherwise what does that say about every parent that finds a dirty joke funny????

2shoes · 15/04/2010 22:50

ok you don't get it....
so you lol at jokes about disabled people, and your kids will be ok...
yeah ok

Spoof · 15/04/2010 23:36

See, I'm in a quandary about that 2shoes. I think Josh Blue and Laurence Clark are hilarious, and a lot of their comedy is based on their own disability.

big diefference in someone choosing to make jokes about themselves and someone taking the piss out of someone who has no choice

Riven and 2shoes you have explained this well.I find it really hard to articulate why one is ok and the other isn't but you have so thanks!

daftpunk · 16/04/2010 08:24

I is here Riven, do you want me to carry on talking to you...?

mrsbean78 · 16/04/2010 08:31

" They should build mosques in their own country".....I think she was referrering to Muslims who come here and want to turn the UK in to an Islamic country, the BNP want to stop that...they are not necessarily anti-Muslim, they just want to stop the Islamification of our country....what is wrong with that..? this is a Christian country, not an Islamic one, I don't want to see a mosque on every street corner....I don't want people coming into my country who clearly hate everything about western culture (apart from all the benefits they get) the people in Islam4UK for example should have been deported...I don't care if they were born here...get them out of the country...they offer us nothing.

I don't want my grandchildren going to school with a load of asylum seekers who can't speak a word of English. I don't want homosexuals forcing their lifestyle on me, NG will stand up and say the sight of two men kissing is creepy...he's right, it is...

Re; Disabilty....I don't think jokes about disabled children are funny, I have never laughed at disabled children..so I'm not really sure where you are getting that from...

..but I have laughed at jokes about disabilty....just like millions of other people have....I did buy FB book "my shit life so far"...and I liked it.

Stop taking everything so personally.

Two men kissing is creepy?? Then how come earlier someone said you snogged another mnetter at a meet up? That would be the same surely?

DP - You are sick. To say to Riven 'stop taking everything so personally' is disgusting.

I don't know any Catholics. I know nothing much about their religion. All I see on the news re them is child abuse. And now I see that you purport to be a Catholic. I can now say I truly detest Catholics, if you and child abuse are representative of that religion. (apologies to all Catholics who I am sure are real Catholics, not DP's warped version)

noddyholder · 16/04/2010 09:30

The catholicism is just a cover for the bigotry.Lots of catholics are good honest non judgemental people something awful must have happened to this one

2shoes · 16/04/2010 09:35

"Stop taking everything so personally. "
what a cop out.
you really are as thick as shit.
why people (me included) even think your mind can be changed, it is a waste of time.
your herd mentality is just so childish, you sound like a teen who wants a piercing "but mum everyone else does it"
ffs grow up

daftpunk · 16/04/2010 09:36

OMG.....I did not snog another M'netter at the xmas meet-up....she threw herself at me as I was leaving....

Think she was in love with me or something..? I dunno....

wastwinsetandpearls · 16/04/2010 09:38

Daftpunk does not represent Roman Catholics at all, she knows very little about her faith or chooses to ignore the teachings of the church.

It is quite revealing that the only Catholic she seems to know anything about, ( and that isn't much) is Hitler.

Twinset and Noddy - then I apologise profusely to true catholics.

To be honest I think she is a troll. I know she's a real person, but the shit she comes out with is so offensive, so designed to wound that she is just trolling.

And her faux innocent statements are incredibly disingenious 'Think she was in love with me...' yeah yeah.

I second the thread saying she should be banned. On a recent thread I did a 'cycle of dp posting' thingy, you know, 1.rude/bigotted 2.contrite 3.rude again 4. just teach me 5.rude again etc, or something

Perhaps we should all just ignore everything she posts?
