Just seen a ticker on the BBC website saying that

"Have you any idea? "

Well I've seen skin hanging off flesh that has just been beaten, and see a few people hit by bullets while being dispersed by police.

You still haven't answered the question though - were you trawling through CCTV, recovering bodies, or out tackling other crimes? Or all three?

think you've been working to hard mummyloves, I don't think I've seen a police officer get so angry so quickly before now. Why not get some sleep.

Where i have i mentioned you personally are a disappointment in life?

In fact where i have i personally attacked you at all?

I sincerely hope that the police force training leads to better skills in tactfulness and sensitivity than what you are demonstrating. Do you think you are a good role model to be advertising yourself and your mobile number on the internet?

I don't work for the police force so don't need to respond to any of the above before you ask.

Skribble · 24/07/2005 02:35

If you read my posts you will see I have never actually said if I think the right or wrong desisions were made in this situation. I would never dream of doing that. As I have said I have been on the other side where people have assumed I am doing the wrong thing by restraining someone.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:37

"Please, do not underestimate what we do."

Nobody said we did. But lets face it, it's probably the security people's fault that the police shot the wrong bloke so hey ho it doesn't matter does it. The police must therefore automatically be gods and can never do anything wrong???

I have just realised mummy loves.

You said you do your bit, and you do it for me.

Well lets get things straight, you can stop doing it for me right now. Whatever it is you think you are doing for me its really not helping so please don't waste any more of your time on me.

Skribble · 24/07/2005 02:50

However did you get from defending the officers actions to personaly attacking another member who obviously got upset.

Its all police work and Mummyloves has to do all three. I take it you will never call the police for help again.

SaintGeorge · 24/07/2005 02:52

Gentle moderator intervention doesn't cut it then?

Note to self, when all else fails, shout.

PLEASE ALL DROP IT AND GO TO BED!

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:53

"Its all police work and Mummyloves has to do all three. I take it you will never call the police for help again."

Well I'm very disappointed and amazed that they don't have police officers working specifically on the terror cases, I know there's a shortage but you're honestly telling me that she was recovering bodies, checking CCTV AND attending other crimes???

And yes I'll be calling the police if I need to, because I have polite, courteous and helpful police officers up here, who have listened to our criticism and not been offended by it.

Saintgeorge i am tring hard to be my usual sensible self.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:55

"However did you get from defending the officers actions to personaly attacking another member who obviously got upset. "

That only applies to certain members. Its OK to personally attacks some members, and no-one will bat an eyelid. If others get attacked then it's all hands on deck to defend them

come on ladies - give saintgearge a break - she wants to go to bed!!!

argue tomorrow when theres more mods around!

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:57

FFS HH - ever though that perhaps posts may have crossed between ST G's last post and the ones I just posted???

OP posts:
Skribble · 24/07/2005 02:58

I'm sure they can't do all three things at once, nobody claimed they were, but most officers do a wide variety of tasks everyday. Of course there are officers who deal specificaly with terrorism but it is a team effort and the jobs often crossover. I'm not here for a personal slanging match.

HappyHuggy · 24/07/2005 02:59

didnt occur to me QOQ, i know your pissed off but dont take it out on me

Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 02:59

Fran1, I hope you never need us!

SaintGeorge · 24/07/2005 03:00

QoQ, there is no need to start with the angry faces.

Crossed posts or not, I have politely asked more than once now. This thread is in danger of going absolutely nowhere other than a big argument.

Skribble · 24/07/2005 03:00

Is there an echo in here?

This isn't the place for any personal attacks.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 03:02

ST. G I only recall seeing one request from you to stop - and that's the one from about 5 minutes ago.

HH decided to 'jump in' to help you, I didn't do angry faces at you.

And besides - I didn't realise there was now a rule one where and when we can use the emoticons.

Skribble · 24/07/2005 03:05

Cease and desist. Put down the key board and walk away from the thread.

Goodnight.

Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 03:06

QueenofQuotes you're still at it aren't you! Please don't be amazed but just because there has been a bomb at such and such a tube station we still have to investigater the 20 or so robberies, 15 burglaries and sundy serious crimes on our case files. They don't disappear overnight you know. If I get pulled away like any officer to deal with the bombings, who do you think deals with my ongoing case load? There is an Anti-Terrorism branch, of cpourse there is, but hands to the pump, what happens to the day to day crime?

Skribble · 24/07/2005 03:11

Mummyloves I don't think it is worth trying to explain yourself. You know what you do and I hope you realise that there are still the majority that respect the police and the difficult work they do.

I would loved to have joined the police but know I couldn't handle it. I always wanted to join the mounted branch. But I am not disiplined or patient enough. I love the job that I do, but appreciate the fact that when it is to much for us its the police we hand them over to.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 03:13

ST G wants to go to bed - so I shall wait until the morning before answering your posts.

500 messages phew!

Sorry couldn't resist.

tatt · 24/07/2005 06:14

I hope this debate will be calmer this morning.

The point about a civilised country is that there will be an inquiry into how this happened and what can be learnt from it for the future. We have a free press who will ensure that we all hear about it and we have elected representatives that we can go to if the result is unacceptable. Once the investigation is concluded maybe we will have a better idea why the man was coming from a builidng under surveillance, wearing heavy clothing in a heat wave and running from armed police onto a crowded tube train when at the moment some people are reluctant to get on a tube at all.

Anyone who has tried an observation test (bring a stranger into room, take them out a minute later, ask remaining people to describe them) knows that eye witnesses are often confused. Or if you have ever witnessed a crime how difficult did you find it to describe what took place!

I am really sorry for everyone caught up in a nasty situtation. The police cannot win whatever they do. Personally I think jumping to criticise anyone before you have the full facts is unwise.
