Just seen a ticker on the BBC website saying that

I wasn't going to join this thread as it seemed to being going a bit astray but I have to back Mummylove on this one.

One of my jobs involves occasionally restraining and de-esculating violent situatuions. Public that witness these incidents are often shocked and sometimes even try to intervine and help the "poor" person. Sometimes even less experienced collegues who don't have to do that part of the job have tried to stop us. We have to make desicisions and act. By standers very seldom see the whole picture.

If you think you could have made a better judgement then maybe you should join the Met.

Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 01:28

It's just occurerred to me QueenofQuotes, please DON't join the MET, because IF after a briefing and when an INCIDENT is happening in FAST TIME, you have to consult the Guardian and The Times, and no doubt, make your Hot Chocolate, what sort of decision will you make when it IS ALL HAPPENING AROUND YOU IN A MATTEER OF SECONDS/ No time for hot chocolate then eh?.Will you potentially save 10's or 50's of life or will your concience get the better of you, will you want to FREEZE the whole scene so that you can have a good old discussion over it? Skribble, thank you, and no doubt your collegues and perhaps, you, and your colleagues past and present have made a big difference to the horrible scenes we're seeing lately. Thank You.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:29

"For those who want to criticise the police can I just repeat what other sensible people have posted on here,"

Oh so if any of us think that perhaps, is some way, the police are to blame for this grave error, we're not sensible.............sorry didn't even bother with the rest of your post.

When ANYTHING major is reported in the news, be it terrorism, or something much less serious, people will SPECULATE, it's what happens in RL too.

OP posts:
QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:30

FFS mummylove don't be so bloody pathetic.

OP posts:
QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:31

I posted the links to the Guardian and Times for people to read - JanH had tried (but got the wrong one ) so I was mearly posting so other people could read the articles without having to search for them.

Why no comments on those that 'made tea', or 'went about their business' during this thread???

OP posts:
Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 01:34

I'm pathetic am I? Well I'll just tell my bosses that there's no point me trauling the CCTV footage of all the incidents because people like you aren't worth saving from future attacks! Of course there will be speculation but not down right condemnation before a man is proven guilty. So your "suspected" terrorist is innocent but my colleague is "guilty"!

Skribble · 24/07/2005 01:38

Thanks Mummylove but thankfully I have never been involved in anything as serious as these situations. I have a great respect for those who do, I have had the chance to see the other side where it goes a bit more indepth than a newspaper article. Its all very easy to ponder over things afterwards.

I wish i had that luxury when one of my collegues had 2 sezuires on the job and I had to make loads of snap desisions about her (now going blue) and another couple of thousand people. Thankfully I made the right desisions and she made a full recovery and every thing else was ok.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:40

I'm talking about your comments about hot chocolate - what was the point in that comment???

OP posts:
Fran1 · 24/07/2005 01:40

shocking that they are now making the tea ladies search through cctv footage !!

Skribble · 24/07/2005 01:43

Belittling people and their jobs! Was that not the subject of the Twatwitchesthread.

Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 01:43

Skribble, thanks again, and even if you're not in London I want to say a HUGE F*ing THANK YOU and YOU ARE SUPERB to all the nurses, medics and doctors who worked, are working and no doubt will have to work on all the victims in London over the past 17 days, and that includes all the treatment given to the many police officers who have suffered down at the scenes, especially in the tunnels at Kings Cross.

Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 01:48

Fran1, would you like to see it first hand? Would you like to recover piece of flesh by piece of flesh? Yes, then when IT is all pieced together, and believe me you have to recover an eyeball from the side of a track, I will come and tell you that it was your Mother. Then I'll put the kettle on and make you a cup of tea. You're shameful and you make me angry. YOU DO IT! THEN TAKE THE P*SS!

Skribble · 24/07/2005 01:49

Again I humbly protest I am not any of those. I have never mentioned my 3rd job and I don't think I will now. I work with many of these professions on the ground, in control rooms and at planning exercises.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:54

Mummylove - why do you assume that none of us have ever experienced any terrorism, I've experienced it under one of it 'other' names (Gurillas, Rebels, Freedom Fighters you get my drift - all the same thing really - terrorists). Tere were no bombs (thank god), but there was indiscriminate murder, beating and torture. I'm just lucky I got out before things got too bad.

What will you do IF it turns out the policemen/man that shot his WERE at fault? Will you still defend them so strongly, or would you actually be able to admit - yes you know what, they got it wrong????

OP posts:
QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:55

Mummyloves - were you picking up the pieces, or looking through the CCTV footage? I'm confused now. Surely you wouldn't have being done both???

OP posts:
Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 01:55

Yes and by the way Fran1, in an incident such as this, it's all hands to the pump and someone such as a Detective Sergeant becomes a "Tea Lady". What do you do for a living that is so important that you feel the need to belittle someone else in such a crisis? Please share it with me. I do my bit, no more, and I do it for you. What do you do for me? Can I take the P**s out of it?

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 01:57

"What do you do for a living that is so important that you feel the need to belittle someone else in such a crisis? Please share it with me. I do my bit, no more, and I do it for you. What do you do for me?"

God I sincerely hope none of our local police officers have attitudes like that! I think you'll find that most people with "a job" do something for 'us' as a soceity, not just police officers.

OP posts:
Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 02:05

Fran1, give me more of an insight. You got out. Great, but you weren't fighting it were you? If you were then that's another story. You weren't defending a country, or inocent people were you, or WERE YOU? Tell me more.If the policeman/men, lost it, at an enquiry, then that's another ball gfame. ALL the facts will be known. They are not now. How much do you know? If you know more than me then please share. Obviously the Department of Professional Standards and any external enquiry team would like you insight before spouting off your unfounded opinions that police are obvious fascist out of control pigs, obviously racist and OBVIOUSLY COULD HAVE DONE THIS AND THIS AND THIS etc. If that was not the impression you intented to make, please look at the wording of your posts again and thing more logically.

Skribble · 24/07/2005 02:05

I take it police officers are not part of society! Note to all police, please run all potentialy serious situations past mumsnet first for approval.

Now I remember why I wasn't going to join this thread. I am amazed how quickly people jumped to critise the officers involved before any real information had been released. I have read newspaper reports about situations I have been involved in and I am always surprised at the inacuracies and guesswork that goes into these articles.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:05

Fran isn't here????

OP posts:
Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 02:07

Feeling the need to quote all the time means you have little to say yourself. So go on then, what do you do for me? What's your job?

Fran1 · 24/07/2005 02:08

Firstly i'd really appreciate you not bringing my family members into this.

Secondly i am aware this is an internet chat room, where you can not rely on what anyone else says and where i certainly do not want to divulge private information. You have no idea how myself and my family members may have been involved in this.

And most certainly would never dream of posting my mobile number on here, especially if i were a police officer!

Do you live in London then? I thought i'd heard you mention other areas of the country before.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:08

I NEVER once said that the police were racist. I never once said they were Facist pigs, I merely repeated what was said in the news - and which is 'common knowledge' the MET have admitted they made an error killing the man, who was NOT involved in the bombings.

Please get YOUR Facts right before you start accusing me of saying things I haven't said!

OP posts:
QueenOfQuotes · 24/07/2005 02:10

ooo hiya Fran - thought you'd gone to bed

I quote to make things clearer - especially on long threads. There's nothing worse (IMO) that reading a long thread and seeing lots of post suchs as

"Was that comment aimed at me"
"I didn't say that"
"Who are you talking to"

A "quote" makes it clear what point is being responded to.

OP posts:
Mummyloves · 24/07/2005 02:11

Skribble, make me feel sane again! Have I lost the plot? Why are people looking to blame someone all the time. It's all our fault now? Sorry foor trying to save lives. Yes, one person who MAY NOT have deserved to die is dead, but hold on, are we not doing all we can to protect the greater good, ie the masses|!
