yes - dh called from vauxhall to say that there were shots fired and everyone had been evacuated on the northern line around stockwell

I must say I'm v impressed with Sky news over the past weeks. They have beaten the beeb at breaking news every time...

Police have shot a suspected suicide bomber near a tube station in south London.

Marksmen opened fire near Stockwell Tube station as passengers were evacuated. It was not clear what the suspect's injuries were.

Passenger Briony Coetsee said: "We were on the Tube and then we suddenly heard someone say `get out, get out' and then we heard gunshots."

Sky News Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "There is no word on whether he has been killed or simply injured."

If the suspect is confirmed to be a suicide bomber, it would mark the fifth attempted terrorist attack on London in less than a day.

Police have confirmed they shot a male, air ambulance on its way. Services suspended on victoria and northern lines.

If it was one of yesterdays bombers, wouldn't he have got rid of the bomb somewhere already rather than still carry it about with him. Or washe trying again to set it off?

They must have suspected he was carrying explosives..... or why whould they open fire around civilians?

Sounds like a new attempt rather than someone from yesterday. Sky news saying male, killed, shot in the head - but as yet unconfirmed.

kid - we don't even know if he was carrying a bomb yet..Don't forget that man arrested at gun point in Whitehall yesterday certainly didn't seem to be carrying anything.

And presumably by now they may well have some CCTV footage of people they're hunting for yesterdays failed bombs?
