Good, Hooray

I hope they made a better job than the last inmate that tried to kill him.

fruitshootsandheaves · 21/03/2010 20:42

oh shame, just read that his injuries aren't life threatening. Oh well, better luck next time then.

Think some of these comments are a bit unecessary. OK he committed horrific crimes, but he is a human being. And last time I looked we didn't have the death penalty in this country.

fruitshootsandheaves · 21/03/2010 20:48

would you still think like that if it had been your child?

Gay40 · 21/03/2010 20:49

Pity we don't have the death penalty, when I think of the crimes he committed

4andnotout · 21/03/2010 20:51

Better luck next time.

expatinscotland · 21/03/2010 20:52

Aw, but he's not dead.

Bummer.

Sort of like whoever it was who attacked Peter Tobin, another child-killing rapist scum.

But they didn't kill him.

Hope someone tries again.

IMoveTheStars · 21/03/2010 20:54

Lionstar, are you serious?

Lionstar · 21/03/2010 20:55

fruit I have no idea how I would feel in that instance so can't comment. However we have a justice system in this country and we have to trust in it to deal with such criminals appropriately. Or would you rather vigilantism was the preferred method of meeting out justice?

lottiejenkins · 21/03/2010 20:56

Lionstar,,,,,,,,, You want to read the book that Holly's Dad wrote. Huntley is a total monster!

BadgersPaws · 21/03/2010 20:56

If you're of a vengeful mindset then why would you want him dead? Surly the terror of living every day knowing that you're surrounded by people who hate you and that a number of those will try to kill or injure you given half a chance is the worst punishment?

helyg · 21/03/2010 20:57

I agree with Lionstar.

Yes, he is an evil bastard, but killing him wouldn't change what he did or bring teh girls back.

Plus, presumably the person who attacked him had commited a pretty serious crime themselves in order to be in there in the first place... should the prison system really be reduced to one violent animal attacking another?

Dumbledoresgirl · 21/03/2010 20:57

I understand you Lionstar.

I personally would like the death penalty for people like Ian Huntley, but that is not the same as some criminal doing it himself with a homemade weapon.

winnybella · 21/03/2010 20:57

It says he tried to commit suicide three times while in prison, he was also attacked there on a few other occasions.

Seems like he's having a miserable time- maybe that's better than death.

OnlyWantsOne · 21/03/2010 20:58

life must be pretty shit when this happens -

"He was left severely scalded after rapist Paul Marshall, 35, threw the water over him"

for a rapist to hate you and think your scum, you must be pretty terrible...

Portofino · 21/03/2010 20:58

Part of the prison "experience" for child murderers. Shame.

Normally I would try to be more understanding, but this guy killed those children in cold blood, and colluded and lied afterwards. No sympathy at all.

TheFallenMadonna · 21/03/2010 20:58

It says on the link that the last time he was attacked it was by a rapist. A rapist. Not someone I want acting as an instrument of justice TBH.

hocuspontas · 21/03/2010 20:58

I don't actually want him to die - yet. I want him to live in fear of being killed but I don't want anyone to succeed for about 20 years. Harsh? I hate him. I can't forget his face when he turned out to 'help' look for the girls. It's still so fresh. Poor girls and their families. Dd1 is the same age as they would be now, she's looking forward to university and the next stage of her life. Something denied to Holly and Jessica.

JustMyTwoPenceWorth · 21/03/2010 20:58

I think that he gave up the right to the title 'human being' when he murdered two children.

I hear that prison is not a nice place for those convicted of crimes against children.

I find it hard to muster up any sympathy for him, tbh. What is happening to him now is nothing compared to what he did to those children.

NormaStanleyFletcher · 21/03/2010 21:01

"The degree of civilization in a society can be judged by entering its prisons"

We do not have the death penalty in this country, and for you to want this done by some idiot wielding a toothbrush with a razor blade melted into it disappoints me.

Whatever he has done

Casmama · 21/03/2010 21:01

I don't believe in capital punishment but if he has tried to commit suicide three times maybe they should stop preventing him.

onebadbaby · 21/03/2010 21:02

Glad he's not dead- it would end his suffering!

nickytwotimes · 21/03/2010 21:02

I agree with lionstar too.

We have a justice system. Flawed though it is.

I have absolutely no sympathy for him though. I doubt anyone does.
