It seems Ms Porter doesn't like mumsnet

I do wonder how she can't make such aspersions about us without being a member or being privy to the vast amount of threads on here.

juneybean · 15/02/2010 03:51
  • can not can't
whomovedmychocolate · 15/02/2010 06:28

So to be clear, she was invited to a party and is all huffy because she doesn't want to go .

Yep we're childish, and we're bullies, but I read her column regularly in the Indie and infrequently in the chav papers and frankly, frequently, so are her articles. Personal attacks, check. Open admittance of lack of interest in fashion, check.

And as for courting politicians, perhaps Ms Porter would like to review her diary for the past year, she's been at wayyyy more shindigs with the political mafia than the whole Mumsnet management team - without doubt.

kittywise · 15/02/2010 07:22

She's spot on really, I hardly come here anymore for those reasons.

lolol @ MNHQ inviting everyone who hates them

I look forward to similar articles by Daisy Goodwin / Claire Byam-Cook / Shercozade Goldsmith

Janet Street Porter talking about nasty common people who are bullies.

Oh, the irony.

pagwatch · 15/02/2010 08:54

actually, when you line up all the rent a quote, mouthy types who are just so cross with mumsnet it strangely renews you faith in the place.

To incur the wrath of some of these people is almost a compliment.

cornsilk · 15/02/2010 08:55

''a bunch of middle-class, Boden-wearing yummy mummies.''
Absolutely PMSL.
Ever been so full of anger that you can't form your argument coherently? JSP is cross!

dontgiveashite · 15/02/2010 08:55

I totally agree with her.Alot of posters here are pompus stuck up bullies, with a penchant for calling anyone who dosent live like them unhinged......

morningpaper · 15/02/2010 08:56

"I'm sure my absence won't be missed and this party will be packed with high-achieving women."

I do like JSP, she is funny.

OrmRenewed · 15/02/2010 08:59

JSP is often cross. I read her column in the same way I used to go into the kitchen when mum was in a bad mood - cautiously and in the expectation of a bollocking!

MmeLindt · 15/02/2010 09:00

Is it National Bash MN Week?

It seems it has become The Done Thing amongst smug, overbearing journalists to take a swipe at MN for being smug and overbearing.

How ironic.

smallorange · 15/02/2010 09:00

I've surprised myself by agreeing with her. She's absolutely right.

OrmRenewed · 15/02/2010 09:01

Also needs to be said that MN is packed with women over 40, also those who are single and divorced. I suspect she hasn't spent a lot of time here

smallorange · 15/02/2010 09:02

But I couldn't give a monkey's.

Rockbird · 15/02/2010 09:02

What makes me wet myself about these pithy well thought out pieces of journalism is the constant assumption that we're all the same. Oh for Bonsoir's style or Methusalah's paltry 3k (thousand) engagement ring, or for the figure to wear Boden.

What a pile of mediocre toss. Poor show Janet, you can usually do better than that.

MmeLindt · 15/02/2010 09:04

Yes, the assumption that we are all 30something glam Boden wearing, Volvo driving yummymummies is rather amusing.

ForestFire · 15/02/2010 09:06

who is she anyway? Some failed hack?

ssd · 15/02/2010 09:07

I agree with some of it, Boden clothes are beyond dull and over priced, but to say we are all middle class mummies is so way off the mark

MarshaBrady · 15/02/2010 09:07

The dress code was 'boden'? What a turn off, I don't blame her for not wanting to turn up.

PuppyMonkey · 15/02/2010 09:09

She didn't really get the Boden joke did she?

cocolepew · 15/02/2010 09:10

AGAIN I'm ^not middle class, I've never* evenlooked at Boden, never mind wear it and 'd rather poke my eye out than describe myself as a yummy mummy.

As far as I'm aware I'm not a bully on here either.

I should get an invite for my services to Poundland and under eye concealer.

FFS.

cornsilk · 15/02/2010 09:10

MNHQ were being a bit norty putting Boden on the invite don't you think? Reeling all these cross journalists in. Very clever.

pagwatch · 15/02/2010 09:10

see this always throws me a bit.
Is n'tthe Boden thing just a running joke. I have one boden dress in my house and it was given to my DD when she was 3.
I couldn't pick a boden item of clothing out of a line up except for the hotpotchy things they used to do for children.....

Isn't most of the talk ironic joshing?
