Someone earlier said that when the BNP achieves electoral success, attacks, etc increase.

Yes - this sort of happened to my DS. We were standing at a bus stop a few days after the summer election this year and a moron of a man decided to pick on my son. My son is two.

DP, MD - does that make you happy?

moffat · 22/10/2009 21:43

If dp is of Irish descent then will she not be one of those forcibly repatriated, or will she be allowed to stay because she is white? And I wonder of she celebrates St Patrick's day - does that count as being part of the indigenous culture?

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 21:44

by the way, that's not a rhetorical question to dp and md, I want a real answer about how you respond to that story.

chegirlknowswhereyoulive · 22/10/2009 21:44

DP so you are first generation English?

Like my OH then?

But you are white and therefore more entitled than my OH?

Perhaps you are younger than my OH and so have been English for less time than my OH even?

Do the BNP not hate the Irish too btw? In my memory the NF used to go on regular 'paddy bashing' expeditions. The National Front are the same as the BNP in case you were wondering. It was a bit like Marathon changing its name to Snickers still the same and still full of fucking nuts.

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 21:44

rofl at 'nuts' , chegirl!

SomeGuy · 22/10/2009 21:45

dp, I may be confusing you with someone else, but didn't you say a few days ago that you were part Maltese, part British, live in Scotland and yet are anti-immigration? Aren't you basically wishing your own extinction?

This is a bit of a silly argument. As I said above

"IME, people of immigrant stock are often the most opposed to immigration themselves.

Which might seem hypocritical, but it's hardly surprising, since they will be competing for the same resources (while the white middle classes are hardly affected at all, living at arm's length and with contact with immigrants only as a convenient source of cheap labour).

I've also frequently heard 'I came here and learned the language and integrated, why do these [other immigrant group] think they don't need to'.
"

Katiekitty · 22/10/2009 21:46

Nuts!

Obv not 'Brazil' nuts though - perish the thought

mamadiva · 22/10/2009 21:46

Henry me or the other MD? Am confused...

I remember when I lived in Glasgow there was a little boy who was about 3 had his legs broken with bricks because of his colour He was a lovely little boy but his mum moved away because she felt that next time it could be fatal...

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 21:47

"silly argument", SG? I think we're saying much the same thing. I'm well aware of the hypocrisy of some immigrants - which is exactly what I was posting about.

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 21:48

mamadive - sorry,I mean moondog, who's currently scarpered.

mamadiva · 22/10/2009 21:51

I thought that but just thought I should ask.

Although I have to admit you lot are hypocrits because you are against inciting hatred essentially... well you have incited a wee bit of hatred in me which I realised whilst I was shouting some rather unsavoury words at NG entering the news studios on the news

Shame on you all...

franch · 22/10/2009 21:51

"By moondog on Thu 22-Oct-09 20:42:35
Let's here more about your 'multicultural' existence then PSM and how wel it all works."

Woah.

FWIW, I have a fully functioning 'multicultural' existence that works just fine thank you very much. I'm far from alone.

Not that the success or otherwise of any of our relationships (whether multicultural or 'purest' white ) is relevant here. Moondog you are out of order.

Like others (especially those with mixed-race children), I am genuinely terrified by the prospect of the far right gaining legitimacy and power.

MD, DP and others: what is it about us and our children that you hate/fear/object to?

Haunty27 · 22/10/2009 21:53

Nuts! I have a nut allergy!

No seriously DP. Thanks for answering my question.

So, despite the confusion with the maltese bit above, from what you've just said you're second generation Irish.

What are the BNP's policies on Irish people? Serious question because I don't know. I'd be very interested though, I did mean to read up on it today but forgot never got the chance.

Oh, and women in general?

Katiekitty · 22/10/2009 21:54

Yeah mamadiva - I'm hating how the BNP-ers NEVER come back and answer one's questions.

Makes me mad that does

Come on! Answer specifics! What are you afraid of?

Haunty27 · 22/10/2009 21:56

Can somebody start a thread like the Saturday and Sunday night X Factor thread so we can all faint ooo and ooooooh when he gets grilled?

Twould be fun.

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 21:57

Another mum to a multi-ethnic child here. There are lots of us, aren't there? I think it's rather wonderful.

franch · 22/10/2009 21:59

Indeed, MMH. I remember your thread about the incident at the bus stop (I hope it was you, otherwise there's been more than one), and really want MD and DP to answer your question.

electra · 22/10/2009 21:59

They don't answer because there is no answer.

They just hate....the premise of the BNP

SomeGuy · 22/10/2009 21:59

"silly argument", SG? I think we're saying much the same thing. I'm well aware of the hypocrisy of some immigrants - which is exactly what I was posting about.

I don't see that it's hypocritical. If you're a Caribbean immigrant brought here at British request, why is it hypocritical to be angry at Polish economic migrants coming because they can, and reducing pay and wages?

Or if you're a Chinese immigrant, largely inconspicuous to society, why should you not be angry about the involvement of Pakistani Muslim immigrants in acts of terrorism?

Or if you're an immigrant that has come here through (now very expensive) legal means, why should you not be resentful of illegal immigrants bypassing all of that?

MonstrousMerryHenry · 22/10/2009 22:00

yes, it was me, franch. stillwaiting, too!

Mamazonabroomstick · 22/10/2009 22:04

just watching the clips on the news.
what a cock piece

monkeysmama · 22/10/2009 22:05

So much racism on here ffs. All I'll say is that most of the decent people in this world (& country) don't have narrow racist views.

mamadiva · 22/10/2009 22:06

Oh dear! Anyone watching the news coverage of the actual QT?

NG quote 'My father was in the RAF in the 1940's so I am not and never have been a nazi'

NG quote 'Skin colour has nothing to do with this Jack [straw]'

Does'nt look like it went too well then, I actually want to jump through my TV and join the protests.

Katiekitty · 22/10/2009 22:07

hear hear mamazon

NG is, for example...

daftpunk · 22/10/2009 22:08

Haunty27;

no problem...

tbh this thread has left me drained and exhausted...i should have stopped posting ages ago....but i just can't stop sticking up for myself...wish i had more people doing it for me...

i don't regret a single post on here...i am a believer in domocracy and in people's right to vote for who they like....

nothing more to say
