piece

Is this normal, for a father to not be left with their child alone until they are over a year old?

Fuck the fuck off would have to be in there too?

midnightexpress · 08/05/2009 14:14

Aww, see now I've taken pity on nonparent.

We listen to woes of all sorts on MN: childless-but-don't-want-to-be; childless-because-want-to-be; bechildrened-but-wish-I-wasn't; husband-is-useless-twunt-who-doesn't-look-after-the-children; wife-thinks-I'm-useless-twunt-who-doesn't-look-after-the-children, you name it.

Let's add 'twunt' to that list. Always makes me smile

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/05/2009 14:17

Well who'd have thunk it? Mumsnetters slag off a book extract from the Family Guardian in a perfectly routine way, and next thing you know we've got the wife, the publisher, the author and random nonparents joining in...
Have to say, way back when we were see-sawing between blue and green colour schemes for the site we never foresaw this...

Of course we will politely enquire whether the Guardian Family section would like to submit to being taken over by Mumsnet for an issue - can't think whey they'd object, after we've all been so nice about them here . But you never know...

policywonk · 08/05/2009 14:20

'Tiny wanker'

policywonk · 08/05/2009 14:20

Ooh sorry, not you Justine

nonparent, you will not be surprised to learn that the 'This column will change your life' bit of the Guardian last Sat was saying that non-parents are happier than parents I can't dispute this, although I also decided not to show it to a friend who wanted to have children and can't. I suspect it wouldn't help her. Welcome to MN.

Nonparent · 08/05/2009 14:22

Thanks Midnight Express. We are not all bad. Do you think this could mean a truce betweeen the parents and non-parents? what will we talk about on cf? ;) on a more serious note, we don't sit around bitching about parents (well some do) more just about the venom we get when we openly admit we might make a different choice in life, for whatever reason. And ways that we can defend ourselves when attacked. anyway sorry for hijacking the thread. will go now. maybe if i ever feel brave i'll come back one day

'last time we send her to the G20'

I have actual tears now

(should be cleaning, ah well, such is the life of mumsnetters)

Nonparent · 08/05/2009 14:24

Thanks Lio, i suppose it's all relative. I might look that up.

Fennel · 08/05/2009 14:27

I like the Family Guardian section. Though I know I shouldn't. It's like my secret enjoyment of chicklit, it's a bit of frothy diversion which my sterner Feminist self knows should be critiqued and ignored.

morningpaper · 08/05/2009 14:27

Nonparent you are always welcome

Unfortunately the blessing of Being A Wanker falls on both breeders and non-breeders

It is not necessarily part of being a parent though

MollieO · 08/05/2009 14:27

dustbuster - same here and no contact at all between ds and his dad since early days unfortunately.

I suppose the Guardian wouldn't have a problem with MN as guest editor. They could pass off all the inappropriate words that would no doubt be included - fanjo, twunt, wtf etc- as spelling mistakes

policywonk · 08/05/2009 14:29

I haddid all, but I frewidall away with a carelesh crosh-posht

Lio · 08/05/2009 14:29

link about people being slightly less happy once they have children for nonparent and anyone else interested. Was two Saturdays ago.

midnightexpress · 08/05/2009 14:30

Perhaps we can lure the fishy one back - she'd be an ideal Guardian editor with her spelling.
