The photos of Jade on the cover of todays papers make me feel quite sad, time for the press to step back

She looks very poorly in them.
I hope the press will now leave her alone with her children as from the photos I think her time is slipping away quite fast now.
I think she has achieved what she wanted now, awareness of this terrible illness and a secure financial future for her sons.

Made me think how lucky I am and how fragile life is.

I hope she gets what she needs now.

and I'm sure after her death pictures will be gracing the papers and magazines with the boys out and about with their dad, hoping to sensualise any form of expression etched on their little faces.
Mission has been accomplished, money in bank for private education, now can the circus please end.

beanieb · 17/03/2009 21:50

The only people who can end the circus now are those in the media. Or I suppose all of us who buy it. Which is never going to happpen.

tiredsville · 17/03/2009 22:23

Or perhaps jade could have made a statement to the media asking for the children to be left in peace after she passes away.

beanieb · 17/03/2009 22:34

Perhaps she has.

seeker · 17/03/2009 22:45

If she didn't want the media spotlight she shouldn't have asked them in. And why on earth is she wearing a hospital gown in all the photos? The whole thing is quite bizarre.

tiredsville · 17/03/2009 22:46

I doubt it.

seeker dressing the stage

solidgoldbrass · 17/03/2009 23:46

I was reading someone's discarded copy of Metro on the train today, and there was a piece about Jade which did contain a quote to the effect that she is the 'new People's Princess'.

Now who else couldn't help hopingwondering if said quote wasn't made up by a bored and cross sub-editor rather than being a real reflection of what goes through some people's minds?

tiredsville · 18/03/2009 12:56

'new people's princess' a piss take surely?

NotAnOtter · 18/03/2009 21:13

seeker maybe she could not be arsed to put up with 5 minutes pain while they re dress her

2 shoes - she is a person...

seeker · 18/03/2009 21:23

So she was fine while they put 3 layers of make up on - she just couldn't manage to put on a t shirt. Yeah, right.

harpsichordcarrier · 18/03/2009 21:24

Jesus Christ the woman is dying and you are critising her choice of outfit and commenting on her make-up

NotAnOtter · 18/03/2009 21:25

you dont have to 'move' to have make up put on

do you doubt she is in pain?

wannaBe · 18/03/2009 21:35

am beginning to wonder if sgb's suspicions are valid. Actually I have wondered that for a while now, but surely being reported as being hours from death would be taking it all a bit far if it was just a publicity stunt? And it would all come crashing down spectacularly because if she did make a miracle recovery no-one wouldn't believe it wasn't a hoax.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 21:38

I know she is a person!!
I meant it was like an actress putting on make up.
it sets the stage. imo she is probally doing it for her boys, so she looks a "normal" as she can.
what ever I think about the whole selling her story stuff, she loves her boys.

agree Mrs Pickles

georgimama · 18/03/2009 21:47

I am a totalcynic when it comes to publicity machine reality tv "stars" but there is no way her illness could be faked. The Royal Marsden Hospital isn't going to co-operate with a hoax, and it would be impossible to fool them as well.

wannaBe · 18/03/2009 21:51

fwiw I don't think it's a hoax.

But I imagine there are certainly "celebs" out there who have been desparate to retain the fame that might have thought of doing similar.

There have certainly been cases where people have made up illnesses in order to raise money and who have later been proven to be con artists.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 21:51

of course it is not faked.
for all her faults jg is not a monster.

Twinklemegan · 18/03/2009 22:08

Some of the comments on this thread beggar belief. And you lot are criticising the newspapers?! This thread just proves that society is completely desensitised. We complain about the coverage of a lingering death on the one hand, because we're squeamish and can't stand being faced with our own mortality. Then on on the other hand people talk about a dying mother like she's a character in a soap opera. This is somebody's life FGS, and two little boy's mother. Get real.

5inthebed · 18/03/2009 22:23

The majority of posters have simply stated that to publish every last minute of Jade's impending death is distasteful. I can't remember reading anybody stating that they are too squeamish to read it.
I do think that there is no need for the press covering this, why would anybody think it was a good thing? Most of the articles now are not making any money for the fund Jade has set up for her boys. That was her sole purpose of all her television/magazine deals was it not?
It has all become one big media circus, camping outside Jade Goodies house in the hope they will get a picture of a pained family member or friend.

Twinklemegan · 18/03/2009 22:32

I've no opinion one way or another on the coverage tbh. I exercise my right of choice and choose not to read it. If everyone made that choice then the papers wouldn't be printing that kind of stuff.

What I do have an opinion on is accusations being made that she is faking her illness. That is a disgusting allegation to make and I think MN would do well to remove it.

5inthebed · 18/03/2009 22:37

I don't read the articles either, but when every newspaper has it on the front page, or every news broadcast has something on about it, it is a bit hard to miss tbh.

And yes, the whole "faking it" is also a bit , but then everyone is entitled to their own opinion after all. My brother feels exactly the same way.

2shoes · 18/03/2009 22:43

mn are hardly just going to remove something on the grounds that it offends(they havn't in the past)
I can't believe anyone would seriously suggest this is a hoax. that is just sick
