The photos of Jade on the cover of todays papers make me feel quite sad, time for the press to step back

She looks very poorly in them.
I hope the press will now leave her alone with her children as from the photos I think her time is slipping away quite fast now.
I think she has achieved what she wanted now, awareness of this terrible illness and a secure financial future for her sons.

Made me think how lucky I am and how fragile life is.

I hope she gets what she needs now.

very very sad where has this news come from?

Twinklemegan · 16/03/2009 23:20

I couldn't find it either abbie.

mum2samandalex · 16/03/2009 23:52

i hope she hasnt but at the same tie she must be in some much pain :-(

5inthebed · 17/03/2009 08:38

She hasn't died as far as I know. It isn't in the news, and certainly not on GMTV, who seem to be just as bad giving us a minute by minute detail of it all.

I reacon we will see loads of Jack after poor Jade dies. Headlines like "Brave Jack mends his broken heart" and photos of him with a new woman on his arm, and I bet it will only be months after. He is a nasty piece of work.

2shoes · 17/03/2009 09:05

5inthebed hopefully he will be in prison

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 17/03/2009 09:13

I must admit to being a bit celebrity-obsessed at times, but I saw the cover of OK! this morning and could not believe it - 'Jade Goody Tribute issue 1981 - 2009'. FGS.

JackBauer · 17/03/2009 09:22

sgb, DH thinks that too. I am just not interested in someone I don't know personally. yes it's sad, and I agree with the person who says she shoudl ask for her boys to be left alone, but I just can't summon up emotion for her when I have a close friend close to losing her mum to worry about who isn't being splashed all over the papers.

And it's not that death is 'taboo' but that it should be a bit more private and not feel so mercenary.

coochicoo · 17/03/2009 09:27

MrsJoeMcIntyre (he was always my fav too btw!) I can't believe they've brought out a tribute issue before she's died.

I'm not sure it's fair to say that Jack's a nasty piece of work. He may really and truely love her, in which case this will be devastating for him. In fact, it must be devastating anyway, I'm sure it's not easy watching someone die painfully. He's young so of course he'll have another girlfriend at some point in the future. I expect he'll have certain girls throwing themselves at him. I did read that Jade asked him to wait at least a year after her death to start dating again (obv don't know how true that is), so time will tell.

I bet all the media are waiting like vultures for that phonecall from Max.

2shoes · 17/03/2009 10:41

"I'm not sure it's fair to say that Jack's a nasty piece of work
seeing at he is awaiting sentancing for yet anover assault charge, I think it is fair to call him that

coochicoo · 17/03/2009 11:31

In that sense, you're right 2shoesn

I really mean it's not fair to speculate about his feelings for Jade and her boys.

He obviously has some issues though!

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 17/03/2009 11:33

He makes me feel really uncomfortable. I watched the show of the wedding , and he just didn't seem to be taking it seriously. Maybe I'm reading him wrong.

5inthebed · 17/03/2009 11:39

Sorry, wasn't speculating about how he feels about Jade and the Boys (I never watched the wedding), but I do think that he will be flaunting it in a few months time, and also giving as many interviews about his short (albeit sad) marriage to Jade.

fishie · 17/03/2009 11:42

i read in this morning's metro that the indian press are gathering outside her home for a visit from shilpa shetty.

is this true? why would she want a visit from someone she doesn't like on her deathbed?

coochicoo · 17/03/2009 11:42

Well, I don't get LivingTV so I haven't seen it. Maybe he was trying to keep it light hearted? Maybe I'm naive in trying to see the best in him. I hope he truely loves her.

fruitbeard · 17/03/2009 11:53

Have to confess that at first I was of the same opinion as SGB - I don't think she does look ill, she's just got a shaved head (of course, everyone reacts in their own way to cancer and chemo so this is just my opinion, but having had a ringside seat at Barts in the terminal cancer ward, she just doesn't look like they did).

However, surely the NHS would have sussed her if that was the case?

Having nursed DH through extensive chemo and its hideous side-effects, I can't believe anyone would put themselves through that for a publicity stunt...

Or is she actually having chemo? Oh, I don't know, I just wish the whole bloody circus would go away and let her die in peace/have her miracle recovery but not thrust it down my throat every time I turn on the tv/radio/go to the shops!

coochicoo · 17/03/2009 12:05

Apparently they're friends now, Fishie.

fishie · 17/03/2009 12:42

i can't believe they're such good pals that this is an ideal moment for ss to fly half way round the world so that jg can have a last look at her.

Ninkynork · 17/03/2009 13:13

Just a thought but - are Jack and Jade legally married? They wouldn't have, on the wedding night surely, given her illness and the nature of it? I thought that was what made a marriage binding in law, not the ring, the words, the signing or anything else

AlysGriffin · 17/03/2009 13:24

What a spectacularly bizarre, ill-informed and tasteless post Ninkynork.

Ninkynork · 17/03/2009 16:35

O.K yes it was, I'm sorry. I honestly wasn't pondering on the legality of it from the point of thinking about intimate details of their lives. That would be ghoulishly stalkerish beyond belief although I can see how it looks.

There has been a lot of speculation about whether Jack, nice chap that he is, might go after the boys' money. I asked the question because I wondered if the idea would give them protection in law.

Of course I was told this 25 years ago by a teacher in secondary school. It may just apply to Catholics who have all sorts of reasons for not considering a marriage valid.

My post was horribly badly worded but I don't think it's unreasonable that when a wedding has been all over the media, to want to know if it was merely a ceremony. Plenty of people think it was just a money-spinner and photo op.

georgimama · 17/03/2009 16:39

Ninkynork being married, whether the marriage was consumated or not, doesn't give her husband any automatic rights to her estate. She will have made a will leaving her money in trust for her children. I would imagine their father will be a trustee rather than her husband.

I would be surprised if she has actually left her husband nothing at all, although I can understand that information being given out to the press due to the (prefectly justified as far as I can tell) public distaste for him.

Kimi · 17/03/2009 16:43

I think the RC church need a marriage to be consummated, but they are a bit odd on some of their views.
A couple were refused a church wedding as the groom was disabled and the church said it would not be legal as he could not consummate the marriage but it is legal consummated of not.

I think the OK mag today was in very vert poor taste, I admit to having a flick through it in the shop, and people talking about her as if she has already died.

Also I think Shilpa shetti is looking for a free press not any kind of peace making.

OP posts:
solidgoldbrass · 17/03/2009 18:43

I am utterly unsurprised at OK magazine, having Some Knowledge of the publishing company who own it (Crass? Obvious? Thoughtless? Mawkish? You got it).

And I do retain a degree of suspicion that there may be a Miracle Recovery - or at least that The Story isn't going to die when/if she does. I would also wonder how many girls are waiting in the wings to flog their Naughty Night with Jack Thing while she was Dying stories (Max Clifford and co are going to have too much of a job to sell him as a bereaved tragic hero so they will actually sell more mags and tabloids out of turning him into Hate Figure No 1).

Kimi · 17/03/2009 18:57

Sadist thing about flicking through OK was they could have een photos fom mine or any of my friends albums, first baby, holidays, wedding, birthdays...

gagamama · 17/03/2009 20:56

I couldn't believe the OK! cover. For those that haven't seen it, look here.

"Special tribute issue", "In loving memory," "1981-2009".

She's not dead yet!

(And it's issue 666....)
