No men on women's hospital wards - Good!

blondeseaside · 16/10/2026 08:47

Trans women (men) don't want to be on wards with men, but they are quite happy to inflict themselves onto women's wards, no matter how uncomfortable that makes real women. Make it make sense!

And are you good with trans men on women’s wards?

Certainly, why not? They are women.

And yet here you are - on a UK site, talking with UK women? Funny that. I can't think of one single time I have ever joined a NZ site to converse with NZ women. Why are you here, if the UK is so beneath you, and its women are so weak and inferior??

to lecture us on our wrongness of course - why else?

It's as if some posters think that women are afraid of a masculine aesthetic rather than male violence directed at women and girls when they are at their most vulnerable.

Well these people are dumb as rocks so....😬

blondeseaside · 16/10/2026 10:46

I have never been to NZ, but I am now picturing the women all looking like Fatima Whitbread. 💪

I'm in NZ and spent eight days in hospital earlier this year. There were men and women in my room for six people and yes I did accidentally see one man's genitals. I couldn't have cared less, and no-one on the ward seemed to be in any distress that there were - shock, horror - men in with us. In fact I haven't heard of anyone who has ever been upset by it, not even my 86 year old DM.

Edited

I worked on a mixed hospital ward where I remember a lady wanting to use the commode. She was not well enough to use the toilet on the ward.
There was a man in the bed next to her, sitting out in his chair.
There was literally a curtain between this poor lady on a commode and this man. She was mortified and it wasn’t pleasant for him either.

Single sex wards are essential for dignity as well as safety.

You may not be bothered but you do not consent for the rest of us.

PrancingPanda · 16/10/2026 10:49

Norman obviously thinks that women here haven't heard all the 'arguments' about TP/single sex spaces and appears to be ' helpfully' adding theories of their own!
It isn't 'people with vaginas' it's women! A post-op TW (comparatively few relinquish their penis) is still a man. Probably more able to defend themselves than the average woman.
In terms of TW safety, should we apply the same protections to small men or disabled men, for example?

It's not all about rape and sexual assault, important though they are- it's about dignity and privacy away from the male gaze.

A single room should be allocated on clinical need; not on how someone feels. I really think any patients in need of a single room would be shocked to find out this had happened?

And the women who don't mind men in SSS. I do, as do many women.
As for the 'delicate flower' comment- how patronising!
Our hard won rights are not yours to give away.
You do not consent for me.

I have no issues with that

Orangerowanberries · 16/10/2026 10:51

A reminder that men who identify as trans were found by the census to be several
times more likely to be sex offenders than other men.

Also studies of castrated sex offenders found castrating did not reduce offending but made their offences more violent.

Hoardasurass · 16/10/2026 10:51

MrsShawnHatosy · 16/10/2026 10:01

You raise a good point. Harm has been done to these individuals by the care they have received - affirmative care that has not explored the possible roots of their distress, hormonal changes than cannot be undone and the less common surgical procedures that generally lead to someone who has long term physical problems especially around sexual functioning.

This is such an arrogant viewpoint. I’ve seen so many trans people on my Facebook feed that are extremely happy that they are finally able to live as who they feel they are.

You do know that the risk of suicide in trans identifying people only increases the further they go down the path of medical transition until they have fully transitioned at which they are at the highest risk of suicide

Jesus, I didn't know that. That isn't health care, is it?

BaobhanSith · 16/10/2026 10:56

MyFriendNorman · 16/10/2026 09:11

Of being raped, as that is what the poster i was quoting was saying was the risk to trans men on male wards.

How many cases are there?

There are cases of TIFs being raped when put in a men's ward and cases of women being raped in hospitals by TIMs - who were then told they couldn't have been because there were no men on the ward. Except the man pretending to be a woman and the NHS taking his word that he was a woman.

Cascadia · 16/10/2026 10:56

What I don't understand is why there needs to be a policy on this when wards are allowed to be mixed sex anyway. I spent a week in a mixed ward about 6 years ago it was awful. Don't we need to make wards single sex first before we work out who goes where?

Merkins · 16/10/2026 10:56

5128gap · 16/10/2026 09:06

Well it makes sense to them because for the last decade or more, they have been told that their wish to be a woman, the feelings they have, the medication and surgeries they have had mean they ARE a woman. So it makes 'perfect sense' to them to be on a woman's ward.
Now the law has clarified that a person's biological sex is the criteria used to decide whether one is a man or a woman, they have a great deal of adjustment to make and an acceptance to arrive at that the law sees them as male when sex matters.
While for some people this is obvious and correct, for those who have been allowed to believe differently, this is obviously an unwelcome development that they will push back against.
The pertinent part is the law has been clarified and implemented. Its unrealistic to expect this to be welcomed by those who preferred the previous interpretation.

If my sister is assaulted on a male ward then I will come for all of the transphobes who made it possible. No question.

Why would your sister be on a male ward? Or do you mean your brother who identifies as female?

There is also no higher rate of suicide in trans young people than there is in young people over all.

A lie that trans kids will commit suicide if they don't get surgery is perpetually spouted by TRAs.

Wards (except ICU) are meant to be single sex already - the problem here is the NHS has been breaking the law by saying men can be put on women’s ward and use women’s facilities if they want to.

ILoveKits · 16/10/2026 11:01

The bigger argument is that the NHS is no longer fit for purpose. The expectations of shared wards containing six to eight people, or more, are woefully out of date. Particularly as few patients and visitors nowadays are prepared to stick to the rules relating to social conduct and basic courtesy.

I'm not prepared to pay more tax to end up next to Betty singing hymns, Fred farting and Eunice having a psychotic meltdown. Notwithstanding the noise their visitors make and the grubby shared bathrooms with pee on the floor and scum in the baths and shower trays.

It's less about gender identifocation and more about basic privacy and respect. Under no circumstances will I have a conversation about my bowels when the next person is four feet away and separated by a thin curtain. Or, when I was post partum about my private parts and when I might have sex again and what I was going to do about contraception.

If I'm ill, I want dignity. Dignity is not provided in shared spaces as quaryers that are too close.

There is no higher risk of suicide in children pre-‘trans affirming care’. ‘Transitioning’ and ‘trans affirming care’ increases risk of suicide significantly.

You mean your adult male brother? A male who falls into a group with a much higher rate of sex offending? You think he should be put on a women’s ward rather than with others of his own sex? And if he were assaulted you think it is women to blame not male violence?

I wonder if this is because pre-Op, the person is chasing the dream, and thinks that surgery will fix everything? Then they get it all done, and they still don't feel content, and for Trans women, they also now have a huge painful wound to attend to.

Wards are not supposed to be mixed sex in the uk, theres a legal requirement for single sex wards and a mandatory reporting system for breaches.
There are exceptions for wards like ICU where mixed sex wards are a medical necessity

What do you mean by “come for”?

women are asking for our existing rights under the Equality Act to be upheld. Women have been assaulted by TIMs on hospital wards, in women’s prisons and in women’s shelters.

we are not human shields for gender non conforming men.

StarChild07 · 16/10/2026 11:09

I don’t care which country you’re from, or whether YOU had a positive experience on a mixed sex ward in NZ along with your chums, you don’t speak for ALL women! How dare you! Give your head a bloody good wobble!

Have you ever been SA, raped, suffered from DA? Have you any reason to fear men in what should be a safe space for women only and (especially in a hospital setting) when we’re at our most vulnerable.

What a mixed up world we live in! You’ll also be agreeing that rapists who feel like being a woman, while waiting to be sentenced, should be housed in whatever setting they feel most comfortable in! I mean we they cant help their feelings can they!

Women have had to fight for so much and we will continue to do so, with or without the ‘transmaidens’!

PrancingPanda · 16/10/2026 11:11

Sounds like a threat from Merkins there
