I don’t understand why Jewish people are being persecuted in this country. What is wrong with people?

the problem here in the uk is lack of education and people being really, really ignorant and stupid.

I really don’t have to worry about how you judge me. Jesus will do that. He’ll judge us all.
Hatred is all around. My point is, why are we so shocked at these events. It happens the world over between religions.
It’s not safe for Christian’s in Israel and it’s not safe for Jews in the UK.
Im genuinely sorry my link to the news article upset you.
Shalom.

We live in the UK. I want my country to be a safe place for all its citizens. I know Christians are persecuted in other countries. That doesn’t mean I think it’s ok that people from other religions are persecuted here …. It’s not ok that Jews don’t feel safe . ( And Israel is certainly not anything like as big a threat to Christianity as many other countries - you should be aware of that)

Agreed. So many are being killed in some countries in Africa, and this was my original point. There is hatred all over.

Your point is really unhelpful.
Yes - horrible things happen in other countries.
That should make us all the more determined to ensure our country is a safe place for everyone.

It describes the man as wearing a Kippah which I believe only Jewish people wear.

Thats obviously terrible behaviour. But what’s your point? Surely you are not suggesting we turn a blind eye to terrible behaviour in our country?

Ok. I’m certain you know best.

I will be praying for peace for everyone. I am truly sorry for anyone tonight living in fear or upset. I stand by my fellow Christian, Jewish and Muslim people who are being persecuted for their faith, all over the world.
I will particularly pray for Jewish children in the uk and families to feel safe on the school run and everyday life.

Goodness. This is like
me searching for some random incident where a black person committed a crime to justify racism to black people. The way you are clinging on to some random news story to justify your racism.

Absolutely not! Persecuting innocent people for their faith is not ok. All we can do as a community is give people our time and help people who need it, and so by doing that, we are not spreading hate and strengthening our communities.
I do not feel hate in my heart for any faith, I have probably been too blunt and stated that it happens all over.
I have no idea if I’m replying to someone of faith or not, but persecution is a sad reality.

I’m more concerned about what is happening in my own country.
I really don’t understand why you’re deflecting like this. I’m Christian ( Roman Catholic) . I don’t like to hear about the abuse of Christians anywhere. But I do feel that when hate attacks happen in my own country I need to speak out.
It’s sad to hear that not all fellow Christians feel the same.

I wasn’t actually trying to deflect. I’d say it’s all closely linked wouldn’t you. We absolutely need to stand together though.

How is a women being attacked thousands of miles away closely linked to antisemitism in the UK?

No - it’s not “closely linked”
My Jewish friends and neighbours in the UK are not responsible for the actions of some nutter in Israel .
You’re just trying to justify antisemitism. Shame on you.

@Owlinthewodsshall I show you a Muslim terrorist attack in another country and say that attacking an innocent Muslim grandfather in a uk supermarket is closely linked? Or any other ethnic group or minority.

It wasn't the "criticising Israel" bit they were imprisoned for though was it?

It was for vandalism. Then while they were in custody, PA was proscribed and so they were kept imprisoned as the charges were upgraded to terrorism that destroyed caused property damage and injury.

AmIReallyTheGrownup · 01/05/2026 07:23

Oh stop being obscure.

The protestors are in jail because they entered and allegedly damaged national security infrastructure. They weren’t just kicking bins over in the high street. It’s a serious offence.

Same would happen if climate action or anti-sexism protestors decided to take on Brize Norton.

Thats the charges - vandalism. You don’t get charged with vandalism for kicking over a couple of bins. The climate action protesters who snuck onto an airport and chained themselves to a plane were all acquitted and released within a few months. These people have been locked up with no trial for going on two years. It isn’t the same.

People were antisemitic before the conflict but the conflict gives the ideal excuse to voice it. They will be antisemitic after it, it seems to be in their bones. I don’t get it, Jewish people in the uk are a tiny minority, most antisemites in the uk have probably never even met a Jewish person. I don’t understand why a lot of people seem to need to irrationally hate another group.

If you think you can’t criticise Israel without being called antisemitic then I’m afraid it is probably because you are being antisemitic in your criticism. Perhaps you think all Jews are rich and powerful and connected and therefore Israelis are controlling other world governments? Perhaps you constantly equate what happens in Gaza with the holocaust? Perhaps you hold Israeli Jewish people to a different standard of behaviour and conduct than you do everyone else?

100% anyone Jewish like me knows the antisemitism never stops, it’s is always there like an active volcano.

Jewish people don’t have prejudice against Muslims. We want Muslims to be our allies. We only
have prejudice against terrorists some of whom are Muslim yes but non-Jews like to think that Jews and Muslims are against each other. They’re not.

Some of us are racist towards Palestinians (Muslims and Christians) as well as the Phillipino farm workers and Black people.

Jewish people are not superior to any other people, we have racists too.

Unfortunately, some of these anti-Palestinian racists are currently running the government of Israel.

Yes - but I’ve never known antisemitism to be as bad as it is now.
Things are being said publicly by political candidates that would have been unsayable a few years .
Art galleries are holding exhibitions of the vilest most disgusting antisemitic “art”
The hate crimes ( per head of population) are EIGHT times higher for Jewish people than any other group.

Because (some) people don't seem to be able to separate the behaviour of Israel, which I do think we should be able to critisise without calls of anti semitism, and the Jewish people.

This works both ways, for too long Jewish community leaders considered any critisim of Israel to be antisemititic.

I think Corbyn has been proved right, and not antisemetic at all.

And views like this

Jews in Britain are also British. The Jewish community has been here for 350 years.

Longer than that. Records of Jewish settlers date to 70 AD as part of the Roman conquest. After Rome withdrew from Britain and was replaced by local rulers in 410, very little written records exist regarding whether Jewish communities left with the Romans or stayed on. The next time we appear in written records is in 1066 when we followed the Normans in by invitation. Then, we were predictably massacred and expelled in 1290 but many went underground and worshipped in secret and more if us started trickling back in the mid 1300s.

Still no one has been criminalised for criticising Israel.

Sounds oddly like a justification for terrorism to me... and around we go.

I'm so so fucking sorry to any Jewish person or Israeli reading this thread.

It’s not a justification.
thank you for apologising.
some of your attempts to support us do harm more than help even thought you have the best of intentions.
