The people that march on a Saturday defending the palestian cause, covering women, hating gays these are the REAL far right!!

No they are not.
What the f are you thinking.

soupyspoon · 02/10/2025 15:20

I think a lot of Jewish people have fallen into the trap of needing to be seen to have the right virtuous group think about Palestine and in order to distance themselves from Israel's actions (they think) may be vocal about pro palestine

I wonder how much cognitive dissonance is going on there though

Almost a bit like Stockholm syndrome.

When Jewish people say 'actually we need a homeland and Israel has the right to defend itself' all hell breaks loose and they're accused of being baby killers and hospital breakers.

@PollyPaintsFlowers - you seem to be spoiling for a fight on this thread. Not helpful for anyone.

Whatever you say hon 💐

Comefromaway · 02/10/2025 15:22

Until we can break down the complexities of both side’s grievances and address them, nothing will change.

Uggboots, I wholeheartedly agree with this statement of yours. It is no use villifying entire groups of people. That is what leads to extremism.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 02/10/2025 15:22

SerendipityJane · 02/10/2025 15:18

Who asked anyone to use critical thinking here ? Isn't there a law against it somewhere ?

It's on page 5 of the Pro-Palestinian handbook

Ilovecrispytofu · 02/10/2025 14:45

It leads to endless cycles of prejudice, alienation and violence so, yes, God forbid!

What?! British jews are gunning down people outside mosques or blowing up concert arenas and buses? Is that the endless cycle you are seeking so diligently to stop? Name one atrocity that British jews are responsible for.

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 14:15

So what if they are Zionists? I am. I’m not Jewish.

me too. Not Jewish, but I think that there should be a Jewish state.

Absolutely, I mean there is a Jewish state. So to un-Jewish-state, they would have to mass deport to… where? And the people who want this are against all other ‘mass deportations’ including the UK (as am I)

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 02/10/2025 15:25

Hamiltonfan · 02/10/2025 14:06

Do you know what Zionist actually means? It means agreeing that Jewish people should have a homeland. Is that terrible?

It seems that all those using Zionism as a slur want Jewish people not to exist at all.
I wish the Jewish people would choose this country as their homeland and expel those who are against the Jewish people.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 02/10/2025 15:25

Well it’s been declared a terrorist incident now.

I have been in London during various marches. Visiting a friend and various theatre visits. Quite honestly I am not convinced they arent stirring up hatred. You can hear them everywhere. The Palenstein flag was rentless.. People shouting all sorts. At one point someone shouted in my face that I should join the march. Lets not even go into the cost of managing these endless marches.

We claim to be tolerant and diverse. We clearly arent now and are allowing all sorts of things to go on and the result is the incident today

I agree. One came, accompanied by police, to my residential area for no fathomable reason other than to intimidate the Jewish community here. There hasn't been any other political march with our area as the finishing line that I can remember in two decades. It shouldn't have been allowed.

clipboardz · 02/10/2025 15:26

Doesn't this exactly demonstrate why Isreal exists?

reginaldronnierara · 02/10/2025 15:26

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 02/10/2025 14:53

Are you fucking kidding

Of course not, it will. They will use this as yet another reason to stoke up hatred. They always do, it's how they operate.

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 02/10/2025 15:25

I'm just speculating but maybe it's a survival instinct. After years of persecution you avoid what's seen as a provocative opinion, maybe?

But the far left screaming names are just the same with anyone who dares to step outside the acceptable groupthink. Take gender ideology, you can say you respect trans people and want them to live safely and with security, but dare to also say you think women should have their own spaces and services and you'll be shouted down as wanting trans people to be murdered

soupyspoon · 02/10/2025 15:27

Im also sick of seeing pro palestine stickers in shops of all places

No other political flags or stickers or rhetorics.

Why on earth would we do that?! That's just ridiculous.

Oh yes totally agree, I was just explaining what I thought was happening sometimes if some Jewish people (and I'd wager theres not many despite what people like to claim) go to marches.

But what’s also weird is a Jewish person who attends shul, has all Jewish family and many many Jewish friends, I don’t know a single Jew who has been on one of these marches?

We are off to shul soon, my little DS has been sobbing all day. This is awful, it’s truly awful and unbelievable this could happen in the UK and what’s worse is the gloating, celebrations and earnest explanation about how actually yes isn’t it dreadful but you know, Palestine. This is why we need Israel. It is the only place on Earth we can try to be safe. I don’t agree with the current actions of the government. Despite that, Am Yisrael Chai. Always.

I don’t know any Jewish people who have been to the marches personally, but there are videos on socials of English Jews protesting whats happening Gaza and of the protests wanting a ceasfire is Israel also x

Tortielady · 02/10/2025 15:29

MookieCat · 02/10/2025 12:57

I am Jewish and the only people in my life who know this are my husband, our children and a very few Jewish friends. I never speak of it, or reference it, and even my closest friend I have here in the UK does not know I am Jewish.

That's the reality of a great many of Jews nowadays. You hide it. Anti-semitism has always been there, but in the past 2 years all the anti-semites have come crawling out from under their rocks.

I am due to attend a private breaking of the fast tonight with a few other friends in our very small rural Jewish community. Two of whom are from the Manchester community originally. It's heart-breaking.

I'm in an area with very few Jewish people and I rely heavily on what Nella Larsen (an American writer of Danish and mixed African American and white American descent) called 'passing.' Even before October 7th, telling people I'm Jewish had the queasy resonance of 'coming out.' I could never be utterly confident that it was safe till I'd said it and registered the reaction. It's the 21st century and no-one should feel ashamed of their background and heritage or any other aspect of their innocent being and yet here we are.

Wishing you a good evening and in spite of the terrible events in Manchester, good Yom Tov.

LunaDeBallona · 02/10/2025 15:30

No one should be surprised about this terrorist attack.
When the government has allowed hate marches, rife anti semetic signs/chants/behaviour to continue, aided and abetted by the police & politicians it’s no surprise.
Everybody who is on the side of Jews, who is scared of the masses of illegal immigrants or who is anxious about the growing number of Muslims in the UK is immediately labelled ‘far right/bigot/nazi’ etc.
Starmer recognising the state of Palestine when it fails the criteria for being a state on so many levels has enabled radical Muslims to be even more anti semetic. MPs regularly calling out Israel for ‘genocide’ when there is no genocide as defined by the meaning of the word genocide.
It all simply makes every Jew in the UK a target - having to have guards on Synagogues/Jewish schools/meeting places etc is a terrible terrible stain on Britain. Why have we allowed this to happen?
Are Jews trying to blow up Mosques?
Are Jews being sentenced for raping gangs?
Muslims account for 5% of the population yet they account for 90% of people on the MI5 watchlist.
There’s something very very dark happening in our country.
Im frightened for the future but more frightened for my daughter.
This should have been dealt with a very long time ago - it’s appalling that this hasn’t been addressed and here we are.
No accountability and looking at where rampant anti semetic hatred -which has been allowed to run wild in the UK - has led us.
This will not be the last attack.
My heart breaks for the Jewish community especially the one in Manchester.
God Bless those poor murdered people, those injured and all of their families.

It means that it’s designed to influence government policy or to intimidate the public. It’s driven by ideology eg religion.

Terrorism has a specific definition, but it can be borne out of any number of things, racism, sexism, religious extremist etc etc
