no i stand by it, they are

Monkeybird · 20/04/2008 21:56

I'm VERY interesting, I'll have you know.

bundle · 20/04/2008 21:56

not they're not, definitely not

DrNortherner · 20/04/2008 21:58

I (sometimes) smoke and I am VERY interesting. Especially when wearing my waistcoat.....

margoandjerry · 20/04/2008 22:01

Being with a smoker is like being with a small child. Every five minutes you have to stop what you're doing while they have their fag break or faff around trying to cadge one off someone. It's boring and their chat would have to be sparkling to make up for all the flowing conversations that get broken off with "oh, I'm just off for a fag"

southeastastra · 20/04/2008 22:01

i'm so sick of the younger generation telling me what to do, if they come up with an interesting alternative i would listen,

bundle · 20/04/2008 22:02

who is this younger generation?

unknownrebelbang · 20/04/2008 22:02

Oh God, I admit to being boring.

I don't smoke, I've never smoked, had TB as a baby and had it instilled into me that one fag could/would kill me (over-protective parents maybe, but they did me a favour).

That's me, so shoot me.

Most of the folk on this thread talking about smokers though are former smokers, not non-smokers who are gloating.

expatinscotland · 20/04/2008 22:05

FFS, people, get over yourselves.

What KatieScarlett said on Sun 20-Apr-08 13:29:23 pretty much sumes it up for me, too.

I used to smoke. Big deal.

I laugh my arse off at all the people slagging off smoking when they use coke recreationally.

bundle · 20/04/2008 22:06

how else could you use coke?

southeastastra · 20/04/2008 22:07

well done all you non smokers. i guess i got hooked in 1988. us smokers know the shit we have to deal with

expatinscotland · 20/04/2008 22:07

i'd rather spend my time with a smoker than a non-smoker who's an utter twat.

bundle · 20/04/2008 22:08

smoking is pretty twattish behaviour

imo

expatinscotland · 20/04/2008 22:10

judging people you don't even know for a legal activity is twattish as well.

and no, i don't smoke.

Monkeybird · 20/04/2008 22:11

ah yes, KatieS's wise words. Along with:

I DON'T CARE if I contract lung cancer, empysema and/or and including heart disease. I will sue no one, blame no none, regret nothing. Oh, and for the pedants, I do not intend to be a drain on the NHS or any other welfare programme. I will go happily when the time is right. If that's shorter than some, then so be it. My cigs, my body, my pleasure, my choice.

after which she got in a punch up with martianbishop.

Mmmm, that's what I call interesting

bundle · 20/04/2008 22:11

i know plenty of people who smoke and they know i think it's hideous

i think it's pretty twattish to use coke too

if that makes me twattish, then sobeit

bundle · 20/04/2008 22:12

what about katiescarlet's family/kids? do they have a choice or indeed any rights?

southeastastra · 20/04/2008 22:15

non smokers are sanctimonious

unknownrebelbang · 20/04/2008 22:16

I'm boring, twattish and sanctimonious.

great.

Just cos I had TB as a baby

expatinscotland · 20/04/2008 22:17

she smokes in the garage, bundle.

the garage.

yeah, i have to agree with you there, south.

[rolls eyes]

Tinker · 20/04/2008 22:18

"OK it's time someone unmasked India Knight as the smug, hypocritical irritant she really is." Applauds margoandjerry.

brimfull · 20/04/2008 22:19

I have been nursing people with serious lung disease caused by smoking, they spend their day and night trying to breathe.
It is awful to watch the sheer exhaustion and pain they are in as they incessantly cough and wheeze unable to speak.
They know they are on death's door and it is a slow and agonizing frightening way to go.
Heartbreaking to watch.

Can't believe anyone would want to smoke after seeing them .

well i am sick of being portrayed on this site as a smelly freak because i smoke.

Monkeybird · 20/04/2008 22:22

yeah but expat, since the smoking ban was imposed in Scotland I think, there's been something like a drop of a third in the number of deaths from heart and lung problems (I'm paraphrasing here from sketchy news knowledge).

I don't care if people wanna kill themselves, I care a bit more about their kids but it's their choice still. It's not quite so simple to say it only affects their family since it - like obesity and drink I agree - costs us ALL money.

someone has to take charge of public health issues and IK and all the other 'ooh horrible nanny state whingers' will be bleeding grateful for the nanny state when it's mopping up their vomit and coughed up blood in 15 years time.
