I was recently talking about her on the steiner/waldorf thread and read tonight that she has just split from her husband partly due to the lifestyle change required by steiner schools.
Just wanted to post here, incase anyone knew her and could point her to the thread here

Solitaire, yes! Irony! I was thinking of starting a thread about mothering.com in the US. That is unbelieveable, they order you to go and learn how to post correctly in "personal growth"!!!!!
You have to say stuff like "oh, another fun post, thankyou"
and they didn't let the Steiner kids sing the alphabet song, and sang "little piggy had roast beet" they were apopletic about the beef bit!!!

They were talking about mumsnet, and how awful it is.
Think I'll start a thread soon..

TheBee - Don't diss a Mother's work EVER

Are you really a teacher? Because I suspect you may have taught once many moons ago and you have now dedicated yourself to the cause electronically.

I also suspect he has never played with another womans bottom

Well back to the question does anyone know Melinda?

Good luck with plan B....

Elffriend · 16/04/2008 15:00

WEll this has been an eye-opener to say the least! I ended up following the (sane) link to the OTHER thread. Blimey. And there's me thinking most parents wanted their children to be able to read! I am sooo out of the loop

Thebee. Do you serioualy have nothing better to do? This is a parents site. You are not a parent. You appear to have nothing useful to write. Why on earth are you here? Seriously - why? What are you gaining, given that everyone appears to think you are as mad as a box of frogs?

Still, has been an interesting diversion from work/RL! Thank you for the mental image of the muppets Solitaire! ROFL!

northernrefugee39 · 16/04/2008 15:02

'We host discussion about nighttime parenting, loving discipline, natural birth, homebirth, successful breastfeeding, alternative and complementary home remedies, informed consent, and many other topics from a natural point of view. We are not interested, however, in hosting discussions on the merits of crying it out, physical punishment, formula feeding, elective cesarean section, routine infant medical circumcision, or mandatory vaccinations. We do not tolerate any type of discrimination in the discussions, including but not limited to racism, heterosexism, classism, religious bigotry, or discrimination toward the disabled. We will not host discussions that involve explicit sexual references and are cautious about discussions on volatile topics such as abortion, religion, and race. We invite you to join us as a member, keeping in mind the focus of this intentional community and respecting its advocacy.'

"We are not interested, however, in hosting discussions on the merits..........elective cesarean section"

ha ha ha ha

Shall I go on there and ask them if they suggest that me and DS2 and millions of other mothers/babies die instead? - coz that's what would have happened if we'd not had an elective CS.

Discuss it? They can't even fucking spell it!"

itsMYmummy · 16/04/2008 15:07

Who the frikkin hell is that nutjob?

Why would you come on MN to argue like a loon about a job you used to do?

You need to get out more mate.

Judging by the standard of grammar in your posts I should imagine parents should be bloody worried about their kids literacy.

If you scratch the surface of Mothering.com and Mothering Magazine they are very pro steiner/waldorf. Juno magazine is another one.

I use to read it back in the days of trying to be the perfect earth mother. It makes me think back to the time I went to my local garden centre and because I was so off my face with tiredness due to dc3 waking in the night, my right boob escaped its holding bay. I didn't know until someone kindly told me. I think of this incident as quietly mortifying, whereas a 'Mothering.Com' would have called it empowering

pmsl at empowering nork outage.
