BBC News - Family court judge rules on twins' existence
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cql8nz4nyp7o

I haven't seem a thread on this yet, so apologies if I've missed one.

A very peculiar case. I wonder what has driven the mother to such a drastic concealment.

Family court judge rules on if children exist

The husband in a separated couple told the court he believed his wife had given birth, while she said it was not true.

The "mother"'s version of events does seem weird as hell. Where are they if they do exists though?

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 15:59

Wow that’s crazy. So either she lied about the pregnancy initially to fuck with his head and it’s come to bite him on the arse or she’s hidden a baby/babies. Surely a private investigator could trail her about for a few weeks?

the judge is wrong about possibly giving birth in a private hospital though. All hospitals inc the Portland electronically register births. So unless she went through a pregnancy with a false name.

but if her gp saw her several times during the period and never noticed anything it’s unlikely. Not impossible.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 15:59

And of course she could have free birthed. Or gone abroad?

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 02/08/2024 16:02

The whole thing is very weird.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 16:03

Ok, the ruling is interesting. I’m only on page 1 but I’m swinging towards her making a load of bonkers shit up and being rather unhinged rather than there actually being babies already.

smallchange · 02/08/2024 16:05

I would have thought the easiest thing from the woman's point of view would be to voluntarily (I'm not suggesting that it would be ok for this to be court mandated) undergo a gynaecological examination to show that she's never given birth. My understanding is that the cervix doesn't go entirely back to its pre-pregnancy state?

It's going to be very difficult for her to prove a negative if she's lied about a pregnancy, but equally very difficult surely to conceal a child.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 16:07

I used to work with someone who would frequently tell the bf of the moment that she was pregnant, and then have a “miscarriage” a while later. Especially if they were looking likely to finish things or had finished things. I can see this being an extension of that sort of behaviour

Would there not be a blood test for that? I'm sure I've read somewhere that males can't receive blood from women who've been through pregnancy, can't remember the exact reason.

MrsBrightsidde · 02/08/2024 16:08

It’s worth reading the judgment - it’s a very very weird case. Really don’t know who to believe!

It seems like it's not clear cut, but that women who give birth to boys may develop antibodies to the y chromosome - I don't know if those antibodies would be detectable https://www.statnews.com/2017/10/17/blood-transfusions-pregnant-women

On balance I guess she's likely to have made it all up, and on balance I suspect her ex knows this and is winding her up. What a pair.

Are transfusions harmful to men if the blood comes from women who have been pregnant?

Statistical red flags undermine a study that questions the safety of men receiving blood transfusions from women who have been pregnant.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/08/2024 16:15

Perhaps it’s not his child/ children

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 16:16

Yep. Total fruit cake of a woman. She’s also (according to him) told him she’s had cancer treatment and the gp said she hasn’t had cancer.

gp said she was diagnosed with a PE when she would have been six months pregnant and that PE is a fact. She would have had either a CTPA or possibly a VQ scan to confirm PE. Both of which are radioactive but more importantly even though they’re looking at the lungs the scans catch the top of the abdomen and by six months pregnant with twins I reckon that pregnancy would have been seen on scan.

sounds like she wears Islamic dress so guess a pregnancy would be easier to conceal.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 02/08/2024 16:18

Sounds like an abusive situation. Very concerning of there are children anywhere- and if I read it correctly the judge isn’t entirely sure.

smallchange · 02/08/2024 16:19

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/08/2024 16:15

Perhaps it’s not his child/ children

But that would be an easy out for her. They're not in a relationship - he would have no rights over children that aren't his.

BlackBean2023 · 02/08/2024 16:25

This sounds like what happens when a compulsive liar marries a controlling narcissist...

SemperIdem · 02/08/2024 16:28

This is such a bizarre case

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 16:28

So she supposedly sent him a photo of a baby in a hospital cot. I reckon she just pinched a photo of the internet or someone else. Because if the baby was born in a hospital even under a different name that birth would be on the birth system. The births go electronically to the registry office so they know who to expect to come and register a birth. There is meant to be a fail system that if a birth isn’t registered then that’s followed up to avoid babies disappearing. No idea how well this works and yes if it’s a false name and address for the mother then it would be difficult to trace. But it would be such a rare occurrence I think someone in social services, or the hospitals would remember it and have spoken up about how in x year a baby disappeared and was never registered.

This Is incredibly common unfortunately

3WildOnes · 02/08/2024 16:31

Very bizarre! Why would the psychotherapists lie about having seen a toddler who called her mummy.

I don’t think they’d lie, but it’s possible that this happened without her having children. I’ve had a friends toddler this morning; and she called me mummy a number of times. I guess it’s her default when she wants something! She usually uses my first name.

Mummyoflittledragon · 02/08/2024 16:36

This is totally bizarre. I just cannot fathom why a woman would either make stuff up or conceal a birth unless in an extremely abusive situation.

Lilysgoneshopping · 02/08/2024 16:37

How bizarre. If the woman has given birth and not registered the babies she has committed a criminal offence. Where are the children? Surely they must have been seen. It's difficult to conceal children, Surely neighbours would have seen them?
What would happen if they needed medical treatment?
If the court has ruled they exist, they need to be found
I think she's probably lying

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/08/2024 16:41

Good point about medical treatment. Kids get sick, they wouldn’t be able to go to a gp appt or hospital without an nhs number?

Yerroblemom1923 · 02/08/2024 16:42

@CormorantStrikesBack I don't understand your point, sorry. Do you mean women pretend to be pregnant and then miscarry to stop a bloke from leaving?
