Seriously?

The guy had been TASED, is lying on the ground in PRONE POSITION and has his HANDS HANDCUFFED behind his back.

NO EXCUSE EVER for kicking someone in the head. Pure thuggery.

This is not 'fuck around and find out' FFS.

Context is everything, not that I'm condoning it.

It would be difficult to think of the context that would justify this officer's actions. He's not a panicked bystander reacting to a dangerous and chaotic situation, he's a trainer officer (although not for long, one would hope).

LadyKenya · 25/07/2024 09:22

The officer has been suspended, I just heard on the news. Good.

Areolaborealis · 24/07/2024 21:22

If the guy had his finger on a button about to detonate a bomb then maybe this force would be justified, but here it seems excessive since he was face down on the ground already. Looks like the guy said something and officer lost control.

The bits that you don't see though are the 3 already assaulted police officers who all required hospital treatment.

The press and public all like to show the world the parts where the Police look bad but neglect to show the rest.

Hopefully the 3 officers injured make a full recovery

But it doesn't matter what happened before. He was already on the ground.

ArseholeCatIsABlackAndWhiteCat · 25/07/2024 10:40

@cauliflowercheeseplease that's because the kicking didn't happen then. That's why it isn't shown.

The kicking happened when the suspect was lying face down on the floor, arms still next to him. There was no justification for the officer to kick him on the head then. Not even the fact that he had previously assaulted other police officers.

So if someone has an altercation in a pub say, and one person gets knocked to the floor you’re saying it’s ok to then kick them in the head whilst they’re laying down with their hands behind their back?

That’s what you’re advocating.

What’s your opinion. I can’t see any comments from you either on the thread

A short clip with no supporting context causes a lot of wild and inappropriate speculation. It's probably best to just not comment until the facts are known.

The bit you also don't see on this clip is one of the police pepper spraying a man for no good reason. And another bit you don't see on this clip is one of the police trying to confiscate phones from someone who is not under arrest. Presumably because of the evidence that has been filmed.

ViscountDreams · 25/07/2024 10:48

I doubt this officer had just arrived on scene and decided to attack the guy on the floor for 'no reason'. He's probably not 'evil' or an inherently bad person.

More likely he'd been involved in the incident, had seen this thug attacking and injuring several colleagues and lost control for a few seconds whilst still full of adrenaline.

Either way. He's still unfit for duty and needs to be fired and charged. If you're unable to keep a handle on your own emotions/anger/actions in extreme circumstances it's not the job for you.

A person that kicks on another persons head is an evil person. Their job is to protect the citizens. By kicking on the head of someone on purpose they’re not doing their job.

Until there is a thorough investigation done, I’m on the fence.

The officer is in the wrong for kicking someone in the head whilst he already had the offender on the ground. There is no excuse for that.

My point is, nobody ever has sympathy for the officers who have been injured and it’s always all about the offender

User135644 · 25/07/2024 11:01

No sympathy.

I imagine the male officer will lose his job in woke Britain and the criminals will serve no time.

Not only were the police thugs, but also thick. How do they not realise that people film everything these days?

They got away with so much abuse in the past.
To much for too long.
Hold them.accountable for all their barbaric behaviour.
There to protect us my backside.

Are people mad?

Police officers aren't allowed to just take revenge because their colleagues were assaulted. They can't just go around kicking people in the face when they're on the floor. Do you know how many police officers are assaulted every year? A lot! If every one of them took their chance at a boot to the head there'd likely be a few deaths and a lot if serious injuries in custody every year.

Police officers are meant to be calm, professional, and should deal with the situation at hand appropriately with only necessary force. The courts are the ones who dish out punishments.

Female, ex police, never kicked anyone in the head (or anywhere).

Maybe if people feared the police they wouldn't be routinely assaulted

What has what happens in a Muslim country go to do with this incident?

What has religion got to do with it you imbecile.

Officers rape and murder women in the UK.
Hang your head in shame you racist.

Why should people fear police??
They have a duty to protect us not for us to fear them.

IClaudine · 25/07/2024 11:10

There's always some idiot with a phone out now so they can't stand up for themselves

What you mean is that they they can't so freely assault or kill people and get away with it now.

Big protest in Rochdale demanding the release of those arrested.

Right, so you want to see the UK be more like extremely authoritarian countries?
