Even Burnham said he had seen the whole video the other day and not to jump to conclusions. He was right. What scumbags those thugs are and what did they hope to achieve? That man in the light blue was kicking and punching everyone he could. Just why?

I wonder what the ‘community’ will say now?

ZoeCM · 27/07/2024 19:50

Andy Burnham got a lot of flack for telling people not to jump to conclusions. But he was right.

Abhannmor · 27/07/2024 20:15

More will come out in time. Why did the fracas start in the first place? Who were the other protagonists. These guys weren't fighting in a vacuum before the police arrived.

How on earth were the protagonists not charged based on that? Surely they have to be re-arrested, charged and remanded in custody immediately.

It is frightening to see how scared of a certain section of society the authorities are. They need to address that very quickly otherwise things won’t end well.

Inlaw · 27/07/2024 20:33

Well I can see how that escalated. Absolute chaos.

The officer who has been suspended deserves a full apology and reinstatement

No he doesn't. He didn't act in self defence or to protect the public/his colleagues. He did it in revenge. That is not ok. Police should be better than the criminals they arrest.

If you dare to attack police officers in an airport like that you get what you get! Sorry but they are scum of the earth. I feel so bloody sorry for those officers.

No they were queuing for a ticket. And the police calmly walked up behind them and began arresting them in a normal civil way. Then they lashed out.

There are videos showing the whole thing from calm/ no police in shot to the head kick.

Tracker1234 · 27/07/2024 22:59

Why on earth was this incident reported like this and so one sided. I hope these men have the book thrown at them rather than be treated as some sort of martyrs.

No, he wasn’t. Regardless of what happened before the event the officer is being investigated for, there is no excuse whatsoever for kicking a person in the face then stamping on their head when they have been tasered and are lying on the ground incapacitated.

Absolutely this. Would you find it acceptable were it a white female who had been kicked and stamped on?

The officer was in the right. The dickhead started it but now we're all expected to feel sorry for clearly a criminal. If you can't handle a beating then don't start trouble.

Good God. You’re seriously suggesting that police forces should have carte blanche to give detainees a “beating”?

honestyISkind · 28/07/2024 01:23

Well done to the brave police officers who took down the violent criminal thugs at the airport.

As the video clearly shows, nobody will lose their job, obviously. And hopefully the criminals will get a nice long sentence.

Hope the police officers who were criminally assaulted by violent, cowardly thugs are ok.

Oh, and he was only suspended because that's standard protocol because of an investigation, doesn't mean he's being punished. Not remotely.

They just have to investigate and can't do that with him on active duty.

He doesn't need an apology, he knows everyone is on his side, and he will be back at work in a few weeks.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 28/07/2024 05:56

There’s more to it, with female officer suffering a broken nose etc.

The problem is the perpetrator is face down on the floor minding his own business, along pops the officer and stamps in his head…. WTF. If the perp was in attack mode and the officer used force nobody would bat an eyelid- but he’s already down. The officer lost control and assaulted him. Stupid, dangerous thing to do.

Ok Tommy Robinson.

Sirzy · 28/07/2024 07:01

Two wrongs don’t make a right. Irrespective of what happened in the build up kicking someone in the head is wrong and police officers doing it isn’t justifiable.

Do we really want to normalise police responding with violence and anger? What the man has done was wrong but at the point of incident he was on the floor having been tasared.

There's nothing remotely wrong. Nothing. With protecting yourself from an aggressive violent thug. The criminal thug assaulted the police man from behind and broke a female police officer's nose.

With all my heart I wish every pearl clutching, cowardly, treacherous creature receives exactly and precisely the same treatment from a criminal thug.

Just once such assault and you'd never whine again.

Sirzy · 28/07/2024 07:41

He wasn’t protecting himself at that point. He was reacting in anger. The criminal has been neutralised.

i ask again do we really want to normalise police violence and responding from anger? That’s a danger path to go down.

TryingToSeeTheFunnySide · 28/07/2024 07:55

Oh my word! Big Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson energy around here these days.
This thread and the threads about the Just Stop Oil five, and possibly other threads too, seem to have been infiltrated by the far right.
Disturbing.
No, the police had no right to continue to be so violent towards the man in question. He'd already been 'disabled' (in the temporary sense) and any additional violence was punitive and vengeful. The police should be held to a higher standard than people they're arresting. Punitive violence, just because he could, is uncivilised.
As for allegations that anyone who thinks this is privileged. Well, we're all privileged by global standards. By UK standards I'm really not. Very low income and renting.
I'm not privileged, just peaceful!
