He should be in prison. Disgusting, sociopathic behaviour.

Well in lots of other countries including many European countries, you start shit in an airport you'd be shot dead. No question.
But as usual violent lawless trouble makers start trouble, get hurt then blame the police and pull the race card. And morons support them. The law is the law. Abide by it or fuck off
I don't need to worry about police violence as I don't break the law.
The situation would have been exactly the same if it was a bunch of white blokes causing trouble and assaulting female officers. Except for the protests of course.

What european countries would they be then? Can you point to any reports where a drunken idiot has been shot dead in a European airport?

Yep the law is the law and the Police have to uphold it same as you or i.

They can use the minimum amount of force required to contain a situation, this thug was on the floor, had been tasered, hands behind his back, he then got a running kick in the head and his head stamped on.

This Police Officer will be given the chance to defend his actions, if he cannot, he should be sacked.

We all want the Police to take care of us in dangerous situations but what we don't want is Police behaving with impunity when they act as violent thugs.

Aside, perhaps the new Govt can look at why airports seem to think its ok to serve alcohol 24/7 ?

Did I hear right that the offenders brother is a police officer? I really wish the media wouldn’t give these so called victims the attention they desire. Just report on the incident please.

kerstina · 26/07/2024 08:34

When I say victims I am referring to the family .

They’re doing the right thing. It’s the media

Police officer stands above man lying on floor with taser. Another officer is behind him as a woman crouches next to man on floor

Manchester Airport: Family of man kicked by police appeal for calm in Rochdale community

The man's family want to make it clear they have "no political agenda whatsoever", an MP says.

Why oh why do we have so many angry young men in the world. WTF is wrong with them all?

ohpoowhatnow · 26/07/2024 09:05

Fuck the offenders, they deserved all they got.

Because going by some comments, an eye for an eye is just fine.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/07/2024 10:12

@Gummybear23 He needs to be sacked.
Further training my backside.

Having seen it again, you’re right. Charges will presumably be brought after investigation too.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/07/2024 10:15

Appalled to see further footage on Newsnight showing two bystanders, who did nothing but protest at what they were witnessing, also being assaulted by officers then taken away.

Complaints against GMP have more than doubled since this time last year.

How incredibly privileged some of you are. You haven't the tiniest idea of what the police experienced, how someone reacts to a life threatening criminal thug assaulting them.”

Please explain how the officer’s life was at threat. The “criminal thug”, who incidentally has no criminal history, had been tasered and was lying on the floor, not moving, his elderly mother leaning over him. The officer ran at him to kick him then stamp on his head. In his loss of control he could very easily have injured the lady.

I am broadly supportive of the police, I’ve posted in praise of their bravery before but this assault was appalling. There is no justification for the officer’s behaviour.

TryingToSeeTheFunnySide · 26/07/2024 10:21

I'm late to this. Just caught up with it.
I actually couldn't watch the whole video. Horrifically violent behaviour from the police. Terrible and deeply upsetting 😔

I feel @ohpoowhatnow could probably provide some insight….

personally I think it’s the cumulative effects of our politics (which is incredibly toxic) and the unsettling consequences of a pandemic, economic instability and climate instability. We’re being faced with a lot of change and most of it not for the better. At least not immediately.

There’s a real lack of resilience amongst large percentages of populations who just can’t cope.

Totallybannanas · 26/07/2024 10:36

In context, they bloody deserved it. If my colleagues or family had been assaulted, I'd probably do alot worse if he was on floor!

Unlikely 🤣

Cornettoninja · 26/07/2024 10:53

@Totallybannanas its interesting that you’ve chosen to empathise with the perspective you have.

How would you feel if it had been one of your colleagues or family on the floor taking a boot to the face and back of the head?

This bunch of coppers look, like they play by their own rules. God forbid that they are the jokers who have to manage a terrorist incident. But we've already been there haven't we?

Inlaw · 26/07/2024 11:28

Omg that’s their lawyer!

The misogynist tiktok lawyer one who just tried to become elected MP last month and said women should stay in the home because men can’t help be attracted to them.

Honesty no one’s going to know at all what’s happening now as the hyperbole is going to get unreal. He’s obviously not been in an attempted assassination or a is a teenager; so is he fighting for his life? I have no idea.

This guy speaks so many lies it’s going to be impossible to know up from down.

I'm late to this too. There is no justification whatsoever for kicking & then stamping on the head of a suspect who is already tasered & lying prone. The fact that some Police also attempted to stop members of the public (one of whom shouted out in shock at what the Police were doing) filming was noteworthy as well.

MrsSkylerWhite · 26/07/2024 11:33

Should armed airport security not have had body cams turned on?
If they did and still behaved in this unacceptable way that’s alarming. Indicates they believe they have impunity.

newnamethanks · 26/07/2024 11:38

Andy Burnham says he's viewed the whole affair so presumably some of that will be bodycam footage. Still waiting to hear that the officer who committed the criminal act has been charged with the offence. Not yet, it seems.

Inlaw · 26/07/2024 11:45

Yeah just reading more on this. And I’m out.

Im not contributing to this as it is clearly trying to be turned into a political stunt.

That lawyers a chancing gutter rat and in a constituency too close for comfort.

Hope the woman’s nose is ok, all the other officers in hospital and hope the guys head is. That’s all from me.
