As an aside, the average weight of a British man is around 80kg.

It's hard, even for a man, to carry suitcases much above 40kg.

One has to wonder whether others have been sent off in different directions with additional suitcases.

Why didn't they use wheelie suitcases? That would be easier to transport and less conspicuous?
Not to mention failing to do something about the blood.

LiterallyOnFire · 12/07/2024 17:19

He didn't even cover his face or wear gloves, and he got a friggin' taxi, which seems ridiculous if the taxi driver wasn't an accomplice!

The taxi detail is mental but perhaps they just hoped to intimidate the driver?

Seriously doubt it was the train as that line is always utterly crammed and finding space for suitcases is a nightmare.

That’s true- Very unlikely as it would smell for certain on a train and alert people.
It’s a really busy line even in the evenings.

He seems to be a native Spanish speaker, living in an area in London that houses a lot of migrants (if he lives near the crime scene in Shepherd's Bush)...I think it's likely he didn't know the area at all and thought that he wouldn't get caught or connected to London based murders in a place like Bristol and failed to do any research about cctv/suicide prevention cables etc.

He seems to be a native Spanish speaker ?

who is this person you’re referring to? The person the police is after?

oakleaffy · 12/07/2024 17:24

@EasterIssland The man with suitcases was shouting in Spanish as he was being chased by the cyclist.

Oh I didn’t know this. Thanks for the clarification

Kinshipug · 12/07/2024 17:32

One anonymous eyewitness apparently heard him shouting in Spanish. Personally, I'd be very surprised if he turns out to be Spanish. I think it's far more likely it was a different language.

Yes, the fact he was speaking Spanish has been widely shared in the media and already discussed several times on this thread.

I read earlier that they said the wheels had snapped off one of the cases.

Spanish is spoken by 500 million native speakers (not including those who speak it as a second, third etc language) and is the official language of 20 countries. It could be that the Spanish was mistaken for Portuguese as there are many similarities but . Almost 8% of the world's population are Spanish speakers which means a lot of people can easily recognise when Spanish is being spoken. He could be from a Hispanic African nation like Equatorial Guinea. Or somewhere like the Dominican Republic. Or Brazil if it was indeed Portuguese.

That being said, I've often done the old trick of bursting into Spanish or French when trying to avoid getting into conversation with chuggers or salespeople or whatever. Maybe he is trying to conceal his identity. ETA seriously doubt it though with the lack of effort elsewhere.

Normallynumb · 12/07/2024 17:44

The most obvious mode of transport from London into Bristol is the train, but imagine him making room for two heavy suitcases on a packed train
I'm surprised the ticket collector didn't spot anything.
Hopefully the victims will be identified very soon and their families informed.
Gruesome

PerkyMintDeer · 12/07/2024 17:49

Mega Bus? There's one from London to Bristol. You can take two medium suitcases and they get put in the hold. Maximum of 23kg though.

If the remains were body parts, and did not add up to two complete bodies, then that is a possibility.

Which rather begs the question of whether there are more finds yet to be made

I don't know how strict MB is with weighing etc but it seems it could be easier than getting a train for concealing bodies etc.

Or maybe transported by an accomplice by standard vehicle.

oakleaffy · 12/07/2024 17:57

A witness said there was a “Smell” ( outdoors)
On public transport this would really amplify.

The smell of even a dead mouse is potent- so it’s more likely (?) the remains were transported in a taxi

Maybe police have CCTV motorway footage of the vehicle-

All motorway exits seem to be covered, plus on overhead gantries to catch speeding motorists.

That would indicate they did come on the train then really, because they’ve been seen doing that journey. It’s horrible for everybody they have dragged into it - the taxi driver, the witnesses and possibly train passengers. There is definitely a sense that they wanted to be caught, they haven’t tried to hide it at all. Who would go to Clifton suspension bridge with suitcases innocently?? They aroused suspicion from the start and they did it in full view of the witnesses knowing they were there. The whole thing seems mindless and crazy.

Have I missed something, is there more than one suspect now? Or are you meaning the suspect and the taxi driver?

Two bodies. How on earth did he get from London to Bristol?
The trains would have been packed.

oakleaffy · 12/07/2024 18:04

Link doesn’t work ( for me)
were they spotted on a train?!!

wrong

oakleaffy · 12/07/2024 18:10

Link still not working,, but a google says he travelled up by train😳

But were the suitcases with him?
surely not.
Temple meads has a big gap between train and platforms, so heavy oozing suitcases would be very obvious.

They might not have been "oozing" at that stage

@oakleaffy - I don't get your logic. So, if he was wearing a suit and it turned out he was the murderer would the suit be murderer's attire?

Do gangs have uniforms? I suppose it depends on the gang. Someone once told me about a gang in London whose uniform kept changing and included fox hunting attire and kilts. I have never seen such a thing so who knows.

You and I both.

Willmafrockfit · 12/07/2024 18:13

but they still need to find him,
would he have gone back to london?
