Meghan keeps getting awards, while Kate doesn’t

Meghan just got yet another award, without much evidence how she does support and empower women and girls (I’m not saying she doesn’t , just she gets more publicity out of getting her awards than the actual work).
At the same time Kate evidently does a lot of support for a variety of charities, but no news of her collecting any awards for it.
Any thoughts?

I don’t think Kate would accept any awards if she was offered them.

She would accept them.

You know people nominate themselves for awards, right? They do it for publicity and to get themselves more work.

I doubt Kate wants to or needs to nominate herself.

She's a queen in waiting, hardly needs awards

They're not in competition with each other.

Rewards aren’t randomly awarded. Quite often a rather large payment is made to the charity/other organisation in exchange for the award. It’s just PR.

What a bizarre thread. Not everybody needs awards to feel validated.

I'd like to see some evidence about what MM does to get her awards. A bit of talking and paying lipservice to things does not quite hit the mark for me.

Thinking of my BFF who has worked for mroe than 20 years in supporting female victims of racism and victorms of trafficking for sex throuhgout the globe including living in refugee camps - along with may colleagues- and who gets nothing but a 30 k salary and no awards not even the odd MBE here or there. While the self promoters simper and put things on their cvs.

Who cares, they are different women living on different continents, their life experiences are going to be different.

Kate gives out awards. She is in a different league.

You can nominate your friend.

Does your friend want awards? If so you could nominate her for some.

An award doesn't necessarily mean something negative. Yes, it can be validating, but also can mean recognition, if done in earnesty.

In no way meant to disrespect Kate by comparing them as in being in the same category. No need to be defensive.

"Kate" (FFS her name is Catherine) has an award - her award is being the Princess of Wales.

Kate isn’t there to win awards. She’s there to represent the Royal Family.

Let’s face it neither of them have done anything recently to deserve awards.

Catherine is our future Queen and doesn't need made up awards. Meghan would except anything.

Ok, agreed.
If I need to paraphrase the question, do you think MM nominates herself / people close to her nominate her for these awards for publicity?

It's ridiculous to make comparisons between two different women who live in vastly different countries, each having its own culture and customs. I wasn't aware a senior member of the royal family, eg the Princess of Wales, wife to the heir to the throne, would receive awards anyway.

They are both good at what they do, don't jump on the tabloid bandwagon.

Shr might accept an award, she might not. But she doesn’t need any, she’s going to be queen. I doubt she gives a toss.

My uncle is a producer in LA and he runs a company that puts on these ceremonies. It's a whole industry.

Have you ever watched Toddler and Tiaras about the beauty pageant industry in America? It's like that.

People pay to be a part of these societies. They do events and have lunches. Boards debate the awards. Designers dress the people.Hair and make up,people are employed. Musicians, camera operators, lighting, script writers, editors. It's sold to tv. Money is made.

'In December 1995, Princess Diana received the United Cerebral Palsy Humanitarian of the Year Award in New York City for her philanthropic efforts.'
So yes, royals can get an award. (gasp)

Why the need to try and put them in competition, they are not.
They are 2 women living their lives how they see fit. Good luck to them both.
