Harry and Meghan and Doria car accident?

OneFrenchEgg · 17/05/2023 15:19

Just heard this on the radio, does anyone have an actual source? Can't see it anywhere yet, I'm sure that is what I heard, assume not 'serious' as in risk to them?

The link from TMZ above with the video and photos from Backgrid showing Doria, Meghan and Harry in the back of the cab, for such a terrifying incident, Meghan doesn’t drop her acting face once does she.

It’s odd. Harry is clearly distressed from the trauma the paps have done in his lifetime, Doria keeps her head down, but Meghan somehow appears to still enjoy the attention and has to remain ‘camera ready’ for any possible shot the paps may get.

Surely she should be frustrated and scared of the intrusion into the private life she wanted, but she can let her acting face relax and show any kind of real feelings.

Odd.

I noticed that.

The cynical interpretation is yours.

A more generous one could be that people will go over every movement she makes in minute detail, she is damed no matter what - to me she has gone full on detach, yoga, stay still.

Look at what they say about the PoW if caught with anything other than a massive grin.

We all need to stop lambasting women who are trying to manage a male situation.
Because there is no doubt in my mind that all those paps are male.

TripleDaisySummer · 17/05/2023 17:01

I also think it is odd the mail haven’t run it yet

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-us-canada-65620143

Mail published some pictures before deleting - ScobieWe're still waiting to independently verify the couple's account of what happened last night.
Details are scarce, but Omid Scobie, who wrote a biography about Prince Harry, claims on Twitter that "despite being confronted by uniformed police multiple times, the paparazzi’s cars continued their pursuit in trying to follow the Sussexes and Doria to the private residence they were staying at".
He also claims that "traffic violations by the drivers include driving on a sidewalk, going through red lights, reversing down a one way street, driving while photographing and illegally blocking a moving vehicle" - as we reported earlier.
He said the Daily Mail published some photos of the couple taken during the chase - but they have since been deleted.

Are they saying the Mail did publish and then killed story or implying it was somehow all orchestrated by the mail?

Harry's statement blames 'highly aggressive paparazzi' - BBC News

The alleged chase, involving Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex, and her mother, happened in New York.

Just been on Sky news that the NYPD are saying it was not near catastrophic! They said it was chaotic but not near catastrophic...so sounds like it may have been exaggerated from their side...see how it play out ....am sceptical

Very point, particularly about the male situation.

I take it fully onboard.

the80sweregreat · 17/05/2023 17:03

I'm sure they will find footage of something. Lots of cars have cameras these days etc.
These days you can't really make up things like this without any evidence.
Do they have cctv on the roads too over there ?

I put my seat belt on if I'm moving my car on my own driveway. It strikes me as somewhat odd that all 3 people, involved in this "near catastrophic" 2 hour car chase, have no seatbelts on. In any pictures. If anyone can find any, do share.

As for the rest of their story 🙄🤣

The daily Mail are not reporting on this online ( yet) which I find odd as they covered the event they all went to yesterday.

They did, and printed the photos online. After which they quickly deleted them when it became suspected that the reason they obtained the pics so quickly was because they had commissioned the paparazzi.

How interesting that despite all we know about illegal press activity (phone hacking etc.) and the dangerous behaviour of paparazzi (Diana), people still don’t blame the press for anything. Almost no one on this thread has called out the disgusting behaviour of the people actually following them.

colouringindoors · 17/05/2023 17:06

I don't think the use of vocabulary like "near catastrophic" will help their credibility. But from everything I've found it does seem that they were pursued for 2 hours with at least 2 vehicle changes in collaboration with NYPD. Could only have been triggering for Harry and maybe his response is therefore driving such language.

AutumnCrow · 17/05/2023 17:07

Also I think it's foolish for 'the prince's spokesperson' to release such details of just how amateurish and shambolic his $$$millions a year private security arrangements are. Harry is paying over the odds for the Chuckle brothers. I'd have wanted to keep that discreetly under my hat if I were him.

I don't mind btw if the American taxpayers choose to fund security to keep the American paparazzi at arms' length from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It's entirely up to USA.

PhyllisFogg · 17/05/2023 17:07

Why would they chase them? They know where they live!

Meghan was only out last week on a 'hike' with an army or photographers to snap her every step. As happens to all of us when we go for a walk.

Honestly.....

Figgygal · 17/05/2023 17:08

Sounds like more dramatic license going on tbh
And if they didn't have seat belts on at any point in such a near catastrophic car chase theyre bigger idiots than I gave them credit for - hope that's not true

Maybe it's because most people on this thread don't believe it's a genuine story.

They left in a huge blacked out Cadillac with security. As usually the BM are spreading false information as usual. You can watch their departure video https://twitter.com/ArchewellBaby/status/1658657514852962304?s=20.

His father choose to have his coronation on the birthday of the grandson he excluded from his coronation. It's his wedding anniversary on Friday, he's taken the BM to court for the trauma, lies and invasion. They send aggressive and dangerous paps after him, even after leaving the country for them. They inflict more trauma trying to replay what they did to his mother, and they publish the photos. Only Daily Mail and Express had those taxi photos cos it was them on the scene. The King and his Queen are on the throne, happy and satisfied. They have all they could ever wish for. Diana out of the way, they're on the throne and the have the heir they need for stability and strength. So sad but this is how many humans are. Until Clarkson's dream is fulfilled, they won't be satisfied.

Numerous people have already said this and I agree entirely. Surely the best and safest way to not be involved in a “near catastrophic” car chase, is to not participate in a car chase? Especially when your mother died in a car chased by paps. Just… be safe?

I’m not saying it’s OK to be hounded by paps, or that they should allow paps to photograph them inside a car, but bloody hell. They’re acting like they had no choice but to be driven dangerously around NYC for two hours.

Ah @Jellycats4life

Read about it first.

If something sounds too irrational to be true it likely is too irrational to be tue.

Bluebells1970 · 17/05/2023 17:09

How very convenient Hmm

I don't think my eyes can roll into the back of my head far enough.

BadNomad · 17/05/2023 17:10

That photo from the front of the driver and bodyguard is really quite chilling. Genuinely does remind me of those last Diana car chase pap photos.

@Jellycats4life

They did not drive around NYC like loons for two hours.

That was in the movie.

In reallife they pulled into a police station, waited inside. Police moved the paps on.

They left said station and tried to go home but werte picked up again.

They went to another station and so on...for two hours. Cat and mouse.

"Chaotic" driving can still be "near catastrophic" if a car close to hits even one person.

Freedomfromguilt · 17/05/2023 17:12

Why were they in a taxi? Footage clearly shows H&M leaving the event and getting into a black SUV with darkened windows.

Freefall212 · 17/05/2023 17:12

It has to be annoying to have people flashing camera lights in your face and constantly wanting your picture but that is the price of fame when you court it. There are famous people who are barely ever papped and then there are famous people papped all the time beause they want that publicity.

None of the three of them have seatbelts on in the cab, clearly they weren't in fear or danger. The cops who were behind them (not escorting them) turned the other direction - seemingly had nothing to do with Harry and Meghan; and the cops did nothing when photographers rushed the car when it was stopped at the light. The security guy got out of the car, was calm, and asked for space.

Nothing happened. People wanting fame and publicity got papped. Not really news.

behaveasbefitsthesituationwillyas · 17/05/2023 17:12

It's just a descriptor.

Annoyingwurringnoise · 17/05/2023 17:12

What does near catastrophic mean? How near to catastrophic was it? Was it near catastrophic like I was nearly catastrophically hit today by a car driving on the road whilst I was waiting on the curb to cross?

yeah, right…

4plusthehound · 17/05/2023 17:13

PhyllisFogg · 17/05/2023 16:54

Why would the press care?

According to polls, no one in the US cares about them any more.

According to the polls he is the most popular royal in the USA.
