Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

Yes, that's why we report those type of posts and get them deleted.

Yeah, fair point. Trouble is loads of people read them before they get deleted. These threads encourage this kind of batshittery, unfortunately.

I, too, see the resemblance with how obsessed people got about Ukraine.

Obviously, I feel incredibly sorry for Nicola Bulley and her family. I’m watching the news now though about the 1000s of people killed in the earthquake. This is equally awful.

I think it’s healthy to keep a bit of proportion in life. Xx

lemmein · 12/02/2023 22:29

Lots of new posters with very similar writing styles popping up Hmm

justcba · 12/02/2023 22:29

Thank you @ofwarren, I have followed throughout and am sorry you have been insulted in the way you have in previous threads.

I posted this on another thread...my first thread as I could not believe what I was seeing happening on your threads.

People do not need to be so nasty.

Was that me pointing out that the 'diving expert' uses red vans?

I thought restrained myself from mentioning that. 🤣

No. It wasn’t anything to do with the diving man x

The constant having to explain and defend these threads is getting tiring now and im finding it very hard to ignore and not reply back which is a me problem but, it is taking away from the point of the threads. I'm gonna take a step back now because i now dont feel like im able to contribute anything useful or discuss anymore with out feel frustration towards posters. I'll just read, like I done for the majority of the threads.

It's been good to chat to certain posters

@ofwarren thank you for keeping this in the light and for being patient with people. 💐

Don’t do this.

This is what the goading squeaky toys want.

To silence

By bullying and derailing.

Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.

LoveMAFS · 12/02/2023 22:33

I've kept away from the bunfight. I just came on to say I was disappointed not to hear any updates in the news tonight. Even if only to say work was ongoing.

Shewasnthere · 12/02/2023 22:35

@User45378754 I appreciate what you're saying but I can't seem to ignore it. Maybe I'll have a break and then come back to it when I feel like I'm not going to get annoyed. But being accused of doing it because I started a thread and "panting" at the next instalment is degrading.

Can I ask why? As awful as it is, lots of equally dreadful things have happened since Nicola went missing.

It isn’t going to stay in the news is it. There is no news.

I think there's far more work ongoing than we know. Not the least because they know they're going to be under the spotlight over this.

Yes, and there definitely searching in Knott End/Preesall today because I saw the photos on their Facebook group

I would hope that they were brought to justice by professional means, not some random poster declaring them ‘not normal’ (whatever that means)

Me too - that’s what everybody would hope. The problem here is that the police have failed to show a level of professional competency that engenders confidence.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct should be contacted as Lancashire police have not had this case peer reviewed.

It's disappointing the police took so long to get back to the witness in the article:

He followed up the call when nobody from Lancashire Police rang him back. Eventually, a week after the first call, officers got in touch with him. It took them nine days to get in contact, the witness claims

It just doesn't inspire confidence that they have indeed followed every lead, though I hope they have.

I agree. It really doesn’t inspire confidence.
All the focus on searching the river has slowed down the response to investigating any other lines of enquiry and contacting (possible key) witnesses.

pigsinoodies · 12/02/2023 22:42

I'm sure this 'work we don't know about' has been going all along. There are reasons we don't need to know about the full details of an investigation.

So sorry that posters have made you feel that way, but honestly they are the problem not you

they use their energy to go on threads they don’t “like” and tear people down for their own fun Amusement internet warriors making a forum full of strangers right again 🙄

ignore and they will buzz off hopefully to the AIBU place where they belong

40-60 officers must be doing 'something' mustn't they.
Fingers crossed for a breakthrough soon 🤞

This is the camera at Rowanwater that looks over the upper field, that isn't working.
It really would have caught it all wouldn't it.

I think there's far more work ongoing than we know. Not the least because they know they're going to be under the spotlight over this.

I was thinking that Lancashire Constabulary must realise that.

One of the really distressing aspects of this case is that if a person disappears and there's no evidence of anything, then it is treated as a missing person investigation, so the crucial first 24 hour period of a criminal investigation is lost.

I know the police can't make every disappearance a criminal investigation, there just aren't the resources, but surely there could be a procedure in place that flags up the circumstances and if requested, despite the lack of evidence, forensics can cordon off an area and carry out investigations.

Likewise with scouring the area for evidence. I read that the police are now searching more extensively, but with all the footfall and the break ins etc. over the last couple of weeks, other than a chance of finding Nicola herself, they aren't going to find much else as it'll have been destroyed.

Given the publicity around they case they are probably sifting through tons and tons of ‘leads’ of suspicious people, cars, vans etc. They are never going to be able to sift through every single one of them at once. And some will be more relevant than others.

I think it's treated differently if it's a child or vulnerable person. For adults the way it's treated would depend on the individual circumstances I think.

I'm this case it's (still) almost certainly the case that it's either an accident or a case of deliberately going missing. Despite that the police have obviously kept an open mind (despite what they've said) and are actively seeking evidence of a crime.

Goldpaw · 12/02/2023 22:56

The police have hundreds of potential leads, and 40/60 officers working on it, so yes I think they'll be making progress in their investigation. There's also the 700 cars that drove along Blackpool Lane/ Garstang Road.

I think their comms haven't helped matters, and there are ways of saying things that won't leave people believing they're NOT putting their all into it. I think they should have left open what might have happened, said the bit about keeping an open mind but leaving out the assertion that they thought she was definitely in the river.

The comms and, like I just mentioned, the difference between missing v. criminal event seem to need a bit more nuance.

JustAGirlInACountrySong · 12/02/2023 23:02

The whole thing is likely to be scaled back soon

They don't have infinite resources. And there's no evidence of a crime being committed

But of course we don't know what they know or suspect - and at this stage we still shouldn't speculate publicly about what their strategy is.

The river and sea search is certainly likely to be scaled back very soon.

The wider investigation will be scaled back as there becomes less to investigate.
