Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

"Surrounding land should have been searched thoroughly straight away. There needs to be a lot more done."

Forensic Search Expert Peter Faulding criticises Lancashire Police for how they have handled the search for Nicola Bulley."

They’ve missed a window of opportunity, a long time for anyone guilty to cover tracks. Good for PF!

The area can’t be that busy if Willow and the unattended phone were left from 9:30 to 10:50 with no one else coming across them, so might be the ideal place for stalkers or odd-bods to strike.

Who said nobody else came across them?

Caravan Park Lady could have told fluffy dog man she'd get in touch with the owner.

FDM then walks round the fields passing Imaginary Husky Owner as she's stroking Willow near the bench. "It's alright CPL has contacted the owner".

IHO walks her dogs round the fields checks up on Willow on the way out and has a chat with another dog walker in the way in, telling her that CPL is sorting it out - and it carries on. Nobody realises how long the dog's actually been there.

All made up of course but I can absolutely see that happening among dog walkers in a friendly area. We've only been told how Willow was first found - very little else. I think the partner said that there were people around when he finally turned up.

But you DO touch on something potentially very important, she tried to be proactive, she had a view on local livestock & the type to be involved. Who did they belong to? How had they got stranded. Sounds like an animal lover, who cared.

NB: she said she actually DID enquire in this case re; who they belonged to, just to be very clear.

melonraspberry · 13/02/2023 20:06

Maybe they are embedding police deeper into the community and then when they get something by being so close , they can issue warrants for searches? As well as protecting the community.

MaMisled · 13/02/2023 20:06

The missing mother x newborn are currently being reported as living in woods in Hove.

Stealth camping isn't meant to be offensive to homeless people. It's more about doing stuff adults loved to do as children. Setting up camp, cooking outdoors, listening to deer barking and owls hooting. Youtube has many, many like minded folk.

Peverellshire · 13/02/2023 19:57

Well PA mentions a few there on his arrival & there were x6 in vicinity at 9:33am & it was NB’s regular walking route…so similar for others? A bit remote, granted.

Ah, ok. I’m surprised no one called the police sooner then.

plumduck · 13/02/2023 20:07

Are there sheep in the field?

pigsinoodies · 13/02/2023 20:09

"Surrounding land should have been searched thoroughly straight away. There needs to be a lot more done."

He wouldn't know if it had been. They clearly only allowed him there on sufferance and weren't sharing confidential details of their investigations.

Yes, directly in area behind bench, I believe,

I doubt the woman who tied Willow up would have told anyone she was contacting the owner as she didn’t remember who Willow belonged to and knew she was heading off for an appointment before telling her DIL anything.

The caravan park has sheep. It's a mini farm.

I've just watched the video linked further up the thread showing a lady walking a dog the same breed and approx size as Willow around the whole site and especially the bench/gate/stile area and it now has me absolutely convinced she went in the water. However as the bank is around 10ft high and almost vertical, it's entirely possible that she waded upstream to find a shallower part to climb out and then something happened, maybe abduction, maybe got so far on foot and then hypothermia set in and she's in the undergrowth somewhere. This would also explain why the police seem to be adamant she was in the water at some point.

VanGoghsDog · 13/02/2023 20:14

You don't call the police if you find a dog, not really.

Re the keys - this bothers me. They sound like a heavy, jangly bunch. If she was abducted I think there's a chance they'd fall out of her pocket. And I really think they would have come loose if she fell in the water.
I wonder if anyone has considered doing some magnet fishing?

If she knew she could call her DIL to get hold of Paul then she knew she could sort it out though?

I was only explaining a possible scenario. None of us know what happened.

You do if you find a phone and a dog and a harness and lead half way down the bank

She didn't mention it to her DIL for over an hour though, so she wasn't "going to sort it out".

I do find it odd that someone could find a dog, harness (I'd be assuming the dog got out of the harness, it looks quite loose in the old photos) and a phone and leave them. I'd at least be looking around to see if I could find who they belonged to.

Why now? When it may not be possible, especially if they are in the water. Surely that should have been done at the outset. If partner wasn't thinking clearly the police at least should have been

You do, do you?

People didn't though, did they? Proving that no, people don't necessarily.

We get lost stuff posted all the time on our Facebook page, noone calls the police.

are you local @ofwarren. I’d looked at the map and noted the cross route under the trees straight away.

The newspaper article doesn't say he's doing it now, it says he did it.

But, you know, The Sun isn't the best source of accurate information.

They've had 6 specially trained officers searching the river bank daily though, surely if she were in the undergrowth they'd have found her by now?

Not to mention the whole area's been infested with amateur detectives for 2 weeks.

The way I read it was that she recognised the dog but couldn't remember who owned it. She called her DIL who at some point went to the bench and recognised Willow and the phone as belonging to Nicola. The DL rang the school who then rang Paul at 10.50.

Not sure of timings, but possibly just over an hour before the DIL went to the bench as the assumption is that the school phoned Paul immediately on being notified?
