Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 8

Here's the new thread

My phone is playing up. I wrote a FAQ and then it crashed and I lost it all.

I'm also dealing with a child on the spectrum who is bouncing off the walls this evening so I apologise for not being around much.

I have a comment and I hope there won't be a pile-on about it. I'm curious about how you feel you'd react? Listening to Paul's video again, he says he felt 'a bit panicky' at 10.30, this is only 30-40mins into a dog walk. Shortly after this, the school rang saying the dog and phone had been found. He then says he phoned 999 on the way to the bench. If my dh was 40mins into a walk (knowing the school run timings) I'd be hmm & assume there was a logical reason at this point. And I'm pretty sure I'd feel on the drive over that after scouting about my dh would be found. It wouldn't occur to me to phone 999 so quickly. What do others think? I'd be thinking my dh had fallen over, maybe hurt his leg etc/ pee in the bushes etc. I can't imagine calling the police so soon. Do you think you'd call the police this quickly? Perhaps I'm missing some facts?

are you local @ofwarren. I’d looked at the map and noted the cross route under the trees straight away.

Not lived there for 8 years.
We moved from poulton to St michaels while I was pregnant, then my son was born with huge medical issues and had to stay in hospital in another county for 6 months.
We came back home and he was on a feeding tube and needed frequent care at the local hospital. St Michael's doesn't even have a GP surgery so we got a move by the housing association.
All in all, we probably lived there a year.
Like I said, whenever we went over to the river area, we went straight on towards Rowanwater. We never went over that stile. I didn't even realise it was there.

Yes if I knew them to be vulnerable

JaneJeffer · 13/02/2023 20:27

He was probably freaked out by the circumstances.

LoveMAFS · 13/02/2023 20:28

The way I read it was that she recognised the dog but couldn't remember who owned it. She called her DIL who at some point went to the bench and recognised Willow and the phone as belonging to Nicola. The DL rang the school who then rang Paul at 10.50.

Not sure of timings, but possibly just over an hour before the DIL went to the bench as the assumption is that the school phoned Paul immediately on being notified?

So she took on the responsibility for sorting it out, and then delegated the responsibility to her DIL. So she knew when she tied it up that she was going to sort it out and could have told someone else that. She surely wouldn't tie it up if she didn't intend to sort it out.

Anyway, none of us know any of the details because it's all third-hand Facebook postings and Mirror articles quoting anonymous friends third-hand accounts. I'm just saying that 'it can't be busy because 'the dog was on its own for 80 minutes' is no more likely than my imaginary scenario.

I would in some circumstances.

Nicola always arrived home between 9 45 and 10.

When I think of my DM, she arrives at my house at the same time every evening. If she was 15 mins late I would not worry. After 30 mins I would try calling her as PA did. If she didnt answer the phone and I got a call another 15 minutes later to say her phone and dog were found and no sign of her, I would definitely think the worst.

lemmein · 13/02/2023 20:32

You do if you find a phone and a dog and a harness and lead half way down the bank

I'm not sure I would have. I think I would've assumed the owner had popped in a bush for a pee or something. I certainly wouldn't have guessed this whole scenario playing out as it has.

Aren't the two of you talking at cross-purposes? The path you hadn't noticed isn't on the map.

LoveMAFS · 13/02/2023 20:33

I realise my mistake, I was confusing 10.30 with 9.30... So yes she was away a long time. Sorry, menopause brain.

It's not 30-40 mins, it's more like an hour and 40 mins, she set off from the children's school, straight after dropping them off, about 0845.

Thiscantreallybehappening · 13/02/2023 20:39

@LoveMAFS I think PA also said he had tried ringing her too.

I'm not sure she did take on any responsibility to "sort it out" ? That's just come about from discussion on here around who might have been there at 9.33?

The witness gave an account to newspapers early on (but asked not to be named) and that's when she explained she didn't know who the dog belonged to and had to leave in a rush.

She may have tied Willow up because she didn't want the dog to be left running around on it's own accord.

No one knows the families personal confidential information except PA and the police and this quite rightly be released.

I was responding to PP by commenting on my personal approach how I would make different decisions about when and how to contact emergency services depending on the specific current situation of different members of my own family.

That timeframe is also weird. I mean, if you tied up a dog in the public place, and left a phone on a bench, you wouldn’t necessarily assume they would still be there an hour and a half later.

If you look at what SR has said in the Press Conferences, carefully, you might or might not be able to infer. Sadly, many of us have struggled, (to some degree or other) in the post Covid for one reason and another, and masked to wider family and friends, etc. (Not to say NB has).

It was pretty unhelpful of her to tie up the dog and go away. If she hadn't then somebody else would have raised the alarm sooner but a tied dog is usually assumed to be tied up by the owner so it no longer aroused as much suspicion.

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2023 20:44

I also don’t understand the thing with “a man” saying that Willow could have been attracted to fishing bait, and that “She” might have had a “medical episode” , how did he know that the phone belonged to a woman at that point ? Why was he suggesting that she would be in the water, and if they thought that, why didn’t they call the police immediately?
The reporting of events is all so jumbled and confusing.

I think it’s because from what he said, it sounded very unusual for her to be that late, and he had also tried her phone a few times by the time he got the call about the dog being found. At the point he knew there was something wrong as she would never have left her dog alone (or phone probably).

I think if someone normally did a half hour dog walk and was over an hour longer and they were supposed to be at work, I'd be worried.

If it was a Sunday, and just a "going for a walk" with no normal timings and nothing to be back for, I wouldn't.

There's nothing for you to understand. We don't know if any of that's true. It's the Mirror, quoting an anonymous friend who wasn't there to witness any part of it.

I'd love to know who the anonymous friend is. Someone MUST have said it to the mirror, surely the paper wouldn't make the whole thing up.
Not saying its true but its such a strange thing for the anonymous friend to say.
