Missing Woman Nicola Bulley 6

ofwarren · 09/02/2023 19:35

These threads are to discuss the disappearance of Nicola Bulley from St Michael's on Wyre.

No speculation without evidence please.

Here are some frequently asked questions, with answers:

1.Where do Nicola and her husband work?

They both work from home which is why he was at home on the day she went missing.

2.Where was the dog harness found / the phone?

Dog harness was found near the river edge not the bench, phone was on on/near the bench.

  1. Has the river been searched?

Yes by the police and volunteers from the Specialist Search team

  1. Had the dog been in the water, and maybe Ms Bulley went in after her?

Willow appeared distressed but ‘bone dry’, according to the woman who found her. There was no sign of her having gone in the river.

  1. Why would she leave her phone on the bench?

Nicola’s phone was found on the bench, still connected to a conference call. So whatever happened, there was no time to end the call or to alert others on the call.

  1. Why was she on mute with no video for her business meeting?

This was not unusual, She used to go on work meeting calls with video off and microphone

  1. Where was her partner while she was out walking their dog?

He was at home at the time.

  1. What about this abandoned house?

Its not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in the village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.
It has been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. This has been clarified with the family themselves and also with the police.
They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search.

  1. Did Nicola have a dog ball with her?

No she didn’t she used to but stopped taking a dog ball on walks.

  1. Was she swept out to sea?

The police Seargent has said it’s now a possibility Nicola’s body could have drifted out to sea.

  1. We’re CCTV cameras working in the area:

The CCTV camera which would have captured everything unfortunately wasn’t working. But the police are actively working to identify 700 motorists travelling in the Garstang Road area on the 27TH of January.

  1. Are there any other paths she could have gone down?

Apart from the river, there are only three exits, two of which are covered by CCTV. On her way in, she was seen by several people. No one saw her leave.

The family must be distraught. Just because they aren’t speaking publicly doesn’t mean they aren’t pushing it. But her parents looked absolutely devastated last week. Paul seems quite focused in his efforts so think will definitely speak out at some point when it needs more publicity .

Peter Faulding the diver thinks not, when the body is drowned and bloated. He said it would get stuck.

But the motorbike lad went over and into the sea. Bodies don't become bloated immediately.
Obviously no one has any better idea than anyone else at this point. The Police seem to think it is possible.

Bloody awful. Thoughts are with her family.

The police confirming that they are doing things behind the scenes

SGI left after searching the section of the river above the weir but it seems like they possibly had a disagreement with the police and they ended the search

disagreement sounds like argument in this phrasing. I think quite simply they absolutely do not believe she’s in the water or ever was, they are satisfied on that score, and as such were not going to waste time looking further, particularly with the abuse they were getting from the utter fools on line.

winterchills · 09/02/2023 20:20

Absolutely heartbreaking for her children and family 🥺🥺

The river was in flood at the time and it was apparently before the weir was built.

How can police better deal with cases that draw enormous attention from the public? I am thinking they need to consider the enormous force of social media (and MSM) and work with this. I feel we are witnessing a case that is actively being influenced (and possibly hindered or aided, who knows) by information, misinformation and gossip exchanged in real time. Cases like this aren't any longer between the police force and the communities and places they are dealing with but have the added element of social media.

This must transform police work completely, no? It has turned into an online VR game for many. It's quite frightening.

Police are searching the Wyre estuary now which is on the edge of Morecambe Bay.
Notoriously fast and dangerous tides

Yes, that sounds better thank you

A few of us have wondered if she lost the dog for a bit - thought he was in the water and slipped

There seems to have been (understandably) a lot of emphasis on searching the river near the bench, with the expert diver saying bodies don’t move far.

But is it not possible that the dog ran off, she ran after the dog (that seems like a likely reason why she left the phone so abruptly) and she then slipped in somewhere else quite far away from the bench? If the dog was missing she might have run quite far looking for him?

Apologies, I don’t know how far up and downstream they have searched, maybe they’ve searched a very long stretch, but it just sounded like the focus was on the area near the bench.

puppacup · 09/02/2023 20:24

They have been spotted numerous times in CCTV so they aren't are pretty close the the grid!

From the last thread. The point is the police haven't been able to locate them though as they only recently put out another trace appeal. I thought they hadn't been seen for a few weeks now.

spidereggs · 09/02/2023 20:26

SORRY

I have missed something. Yesterday someone shared a post from FB from her friend saying the house had not been searched. I see that's been deleted. Was that false. I've missed a day with child bugs.

I agree, it's frightening. Not sure how they work around it though.

Peter said he searched 1 mile upstream from the bench.

Flood would make a big difference, but as upthread I have been swept over a weir that looks like that in the summer with a slow current. After seeing that picture I certainly believe it to be possible.

Just read another case where a man just disappeared. I hope everyone gets an answer, even the worst must be better than not knowing.

If by "motorbike lad" you mean the case from the same date, years and years ago, then the crucial difference is the weir had not yet been built (another one for FAQ?)

MeinKraft · 09/02/2023 20:28

@ofwarren FAQ was a great idea and thanks for new thread

Luckingfovely · 09/02/2023 20:28

I've been on each thread so far, and one thing keeps occurring to me, that I haven't seen much discussion of.

The police seem utterly convinced that she is in the water. Could there have been a suicide note or similar communication that has led them to this singular conclusion?

(Leaving aside the difficulty of suicide in this stretch of river).

This thread is really distasteful.

Definitely
I'm going to have to write a list on word that I can just copy and paste when the time comes.

Agree this is at least as likely as any of the other hypotheses.

I really can't work out why some are saying it is not possible.

I'm not saying thats impossible, I'm saying theres no end game to that, you can't do it forever and eventually the truth would come out.

However, if that had happened the police would be able to piece together who she's likely holed up with based on her regular movements, bank statements, phone records etc.

If you were going to go to the lengths of going under the radar whilst making yourself the target of a missing person's inquiry you'd have thought through all the scenarios and quickly realised its not something you'd be able to do indefinitely.

So why would she want to do it? then she has 2 young kids too, illogical.

RubyPip · 09/02/2023 20:29

I've just read about the red van seen in the area that the police are now searching for. Significant?

it would be weird then for the dog to then run back a distance and find himself close to the bench and stay there. The bench is not special to the dog. Generally most dogs will stay where they last saw their owner or they will go someplace random.

and The person who found the dog says it was close enough she saw the phone on the bench. So I’d say not. No. The dog wouldn’t have run back and stayed close to where the phone was on the bench.

so the dog and belongings were left where they were found, left by someone but no one knows who.

Namechangedforthis234 · 09/02/2023 20:30

Just watched a video on "this morning" fb page where a journalist explains how nicola could have gone through the gate behind the bench with willow unable to follow, and when willow was found she was running between the bench and gate. I didn't realise how close it was to the bench. I don't know how to link but it has made me believe nicola went through the gate and not in the river. I don't want to speculate on how/why she went through that gate but I think that's what happened, given willow's behaviour.
