These threads are to discuss the disappearance of Nicola Bulley from St Michael's on Wyre.

No speculation without evidence please.

Here are some frequently asked questions, with answers:

1.Where do Nicola and her husband work?

They both work from home which is why he was at home on the day she went missing.

2.Where was the dog harness found / the phone?

Dog harness was found near the river edge not the bench, phone was on on/near the bench.

  1. Has the river been searched?

Yes by the police and volunteers from the Specialist Search team

  1. Had the dog been in the water, and maybe Ms Bulley went in after her?

Willow appeared distressed but ‘bone dry’, according to the woman who found her. There was no sign of her having gone in the river.

  1. Why would she leave her phone on the bench?

Nicola’s phone was found on the bench, still connected to a conference call. So whatever happened, there was no time to end the call or to alert others on the call.

  1. Why was she on mute with no video for her business meeting?

This was not unusual, She used to go on work meeting calls with video off and microphone

  1. Where was her partner while she was out walking their dog?

He was at home at the time.

  1. What about this abandoned house?

Its not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in the village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.
It has been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. This has been clarified with the family themselves and also with the police.
They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search.

  1. Did Nicola have a dog ball with her?

No she didn’t she used to but stopped taking a dog ball on walks.

  1. Was she swept out to sea?

The police Seargent has said it’s now a possibility Nicola’s body could have drifted out to sea.

  1. We’re CCTV cameras working in the area:

The CCTV camera which would have captured everything unfortunately wasn’t working. But the police are actively working to identify 700 motorists travelling in the Garstang Road area on the 27TH of January.

  1. Are there any other paths she could have gone down?

Apart from the river, there are only three exits, two of which are covered by CCTV. On her way in, she was seen by several people. No one saw her leave.

I can see them saying lost at sea any day it’s so sad

Thank you for starting with the FAQ. I wanted to suggest it on the last thread but didn't want to appear like a know it all!

For the people suggesting she wouldn't just up and leave her life, can I just say - it's only been two weeks. If you were a person who wanted to leave your life -i.e with an affair partner,- you could easily hole up with them for a few months while speculation and interest in your disappearance waned. In a big city most people don't know who's living next door to them. Someone buying ready meals for two in Asda? Of no interest at all.

Just because it's incredibly difficult to live without trace doesn't mean a) you can't and b) that she may not resurface at some point in the future.

I'm not suggesting this has necessarily happened, just that it could. She might reappear at some point in the future voluntarily. People frothing and dealing in absolutes are not helping, when really all we can do is keep an open mind and apply logic to every possibility.

Agree this is at least as likely as any of the other hypotheses.

I really can't work out why some are saying it is not possible.

Eyesopenwideawake · 09/02/2023 20:07

Just a theory but if someone appeared and shouted that one of her children had been in an accident and she needed to go with immediately them she would possibly just drop everything and go with them - jump in a car/van within seconds.

TokyoSushi · 09/02/2023 20:08

I said on an earlier thread but just to say again that I used to have what would be classed as the 'top of the range' Fitbit. It was temperamental it best so I wouldn't be pinning any hopes on it providing reliable data.

Findyourneutralspace · 09/02/2023 20:08

The police were asked about the Fitbit at the press conference yesterday and said unfortunately they haven’t been able to retrieve the data.

I think it’s unlikely to be any help. I use a Fitbit which is supposed to be able to track open water swims and it isn’t fit for purpose (I regularly swim outdoors). It just freezes in water and I have to wait for the battery to die to reboot it.

Sugarfree23 · 09/02/2023 20:08

Have the police actually said their was no criminal involvement? The last I heard they had something like 400 lines of enquiry.

EasterIssland · 09/02/2023 20:08

As sad as this sounds she’s not the only person that goes missing during the year. There is a woman where I live that she disappeared 6 months Ago. It’s been more on the news because of Nicola but unless they’ve got something that can guide the police in their investigation… they can’t continue searching and using people that could be used in other cases or avoiding many other things.

davegrohll · 09/02/2023 20:09

And what do we think it means that the dog didn't react when taken back there ?

MeinKraft · 09/02/2023 20:09

EachandEveryone · 09/02/2023 20:05

Has the dog been taken back to the scene?

This needs to be in the FAQs along with 'did she have earbuds in'

RecoIIectionsMayVary · 09/02/2023 20:09

I hadn't seen that picture of the weir before. I can attest that it is definitely possible to be swept over and one of them, in summer in slow current.

The founder of the company that searched the river said he doesn't think she fell in. That people who, unfortunately, drown, don't tend to move far from where they entered the water.

Gagaandgag · 09/02/2023 20:10

Why have they so firmly discounted 3rd party?

What if she was stood on the work call with her back to the gate, facing the water. Distracted.
Someone had been following her and approached her from behind with a weapon? Hid her until scene was clear and then made their way out the cctv free exit?

IhateJan22 · 09/02/2023 20:10

I thought people who went out to sea did wash up at some point? May take months though. It is all very odd, only I keep thinking of us her girls and family having to carry on, hoping each day is the day with answers. I hope by some miracle she is found safe and well.

Peter Faulding the diver thinks not, when the body is drowned and bloated. He said it would get stuck.

Exactly
Frightening to think that someone could literally get away with murder.

What happened to her car? Was it left at school? Was that usual? Did she leave the keys in the car? Why didn't the sgi search the length of the river? To rule out Nicola being carried further away (if she is in the river)

Agreed
I saw the posts on the previous thread were at 995 and had to rush it.
I'll definitely add it on the next one.

@pigsinoodies how long do you think they will keep searching in the sea? And what happens next ?

I've absolutely no idea, your guess is as good as mine. I think it's for the optics rather than any expectation of finding a body though. There's already a lot more effort gone into this than for a 'normal' disappearance near water.

Gagaandgag · 09/02/2023 20:15

Someone could easily plan something like
this. Especially if they knew the area. And could they have tampered with that cctv? Who knows.
The poor, poor children. I can’t imagine what the family are going through living on edge every second of the day

It was normal for her to leave the car at school

Its been said that her keys were left in the car but there are no official sources that say this is true

SGI left after searching the section of the river above the weir but it seems like they possibly had a disagreement with the police and they ended the search

I won’t lie, I find it unusual that the family has faded totally into the background now and went silent. That the friend Emma is really the main face of this now, with Paul right behind her.

it’s just all so unbelievably odd. It really is Emma and Paul now publicly pushing it. It’s hard to comprehend what’s happening.

Arcadia · 09/02/2023 20:16

Why is this case so unusual? People go missing quite often don't they? I'm not saying it isn't awful, but the idea that it is somehow unique seems a bit overblown?

The whole thing is very, very strange.
I guess that's why so many people are talking about it

I find it hard to understand how someone can just disappear in to thin air.

Perhaps if she was a creature of habit - same dog walk at same time every day - someone knew this & distracted her away from her dog/phone.

It's the only explanation I can think of.

Either that or she wanted to disappear- but naively thought that she could just slip away quietly.
