Horrendous. Dogs need to be licenced.

Cuppasoupmonster · 31/01/2023 22:00

Horrific, not another one! How absolutely terrifying for her poor baby 😞 for fucks sake when will people learn not to have aggressive breeds around kids, and even if you have a non aggressive breed to watch them at ALL times.

We have a cockerpoo and DD(3) and I won’t even leave them alone together when there’s a stair gate between them. It’s not just for DD’s safety but also to ensure she doesn’t do anything to annoy our dog. They adore each other but I wouldn’t leave them alone together even for a moment.

Cannottryasp00 · 31/01/2023 22:00

I am a dog owner and cannot understand how this can happen…absolutely dangerous dog owners ! Absolutely shocking..poor little girl !

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 31/01/2023 22:04

So many the last few years 😔

FlowerTink · 31/01/2023 22:05

Absolutely horrendous. There seems to be so many incidents recently.

Relatives of mine have gentle type dogs but I still don't leave anyone unattended, for the dogs as well as the children. I have a 3year old and an infant school child and the thing I hate most is when we're out and owners letting their dogs run at my DC and jump up at them.

Cuppasoupmonster · 31/01/2023 22:05

That’s 18 fatal dog attacks in the last year, 7 of them children 😞

We need to ban American bullies, they’re the primary offenders.

Olidora · 31/01/2023 22:05

I have a JRT who is absolutely docile and lost many teeth but despite that she never spends time unattended with toddler grandchild…it’s for both of their safety!

CallipyJean · 31/01/2023 22:06

Oh GOD not again?!

devildeepbluesea · 31/01/2023 22:10

Just awful.

The pandemic puppy market will have been a factor in the increase in these terrible figures: owners who don’t have a clue, bad breeding leading to issues with the dogs, indiscriminate breeders flogging dogs to the highest bidder.

surreygirl1987 · 31/01/2023 22:13

Another one?!?!?!

I could not agree more. Idiot dog owners.

IdidntshagHarry · 31/01/2023 22:14

I know everyone says its the dog not the breed BUT when the dog walker was attacked last week by a bulldog type the statistics for dog killing people showed most were bulldog types. Yes all dogs can bite but some have a very strong jaw that bites down hard.

Poor little one. Will the law change to save the life of a child? Probably not sadly and it will happen again and again and again.

Viviennemary · 31/01/2023 22:17

This issue needs to be debated in parliament as a matter of extreme urgency. New laws re dog ownership are needed. This shouldn't be happening. Do other countries have this problem with dogs causing death and serious injury.

There are probably thousands of unreported cases of people being bitten by spaniels/poodles/labradors every year, the difference is they’re not fatal (although unpleasant). In fatal cases it seems to be the same breeds over and over again - mainly American Bullies. Usually breeds with big jaws and muscular builds.

Ivyleaguestoner · 31/01/2023 22:23

I also wondered if these are the pandemic pooches all grown up...

Has this been confirmed? as I thought it wasn’t yet known which dog(s) were responsible.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 31/01/2023 22:30

Well it's not going to be a shih tzu is it?

Why do people have those kinds of dogs with young kids, I just don't get it.

BlusteryLake · 31/01/2023 22:30

It makes me so angry that it's already being referred to as a "tragic accident". It's a bloody crime and should be treated as such.

It’s not, they are saying ‘tragic incident’ not accident.

NeedToChangeName · 31/01/2023 22:33

Again, FFS? When will people wake up to this? It's tragic
