This article is confusing. So they have been denied appeal and told he will be switched off the ventilator today at 12 but his mom was on GMTV this morning and saying they are going to appeal?

They were denied appeal but they could apply directly to the Supreme Court. Which would be happening this morning I think - I can only imagine the Supreme Court has turned down the application to appeal to them because we'd have heard about it otherwise - ventilation can be withdrawn after noon today but that doesn't mean it'll be at noon exactly.

I think the next we'll hear is something this evening to say Archie has passed away, which is as it should be.

There was a case recently which was mentioned by Hollie as another case of hopsital plating god etc at the time. Was of a girl who was declared brain dead, mum wasn't going to accept it. Hadn't been to court yet not sure if that was likely but she got a independent doctor in who confirmed what was already known and so she let her go.

Maybe if she was allowed someone outside the hopsital she would've accepted it? Or not who knows as from sounds she feels they're all in on it. Know said about 5 doctors have seen and reached the same conclusion but not sure if theyre part of that hopsital or not.

Not only has she had second opinions outside the hospital from treating clinicians, the court proceedings had evidence from independent experts on Archie’s condition eg Dr Stephen Playfor, a consultant from Manchester provided a report on Archie.

I feel for Hollie as grief is making her act the way she is. I can’t imagine. However I don’t think there’s anything that we can point to that would have made her see things differently. Some people just won’t be told.

Cantanka · 02/08/2022 11:09

I should add the experts in the court proceedings are not involved in Archie’s treatment. They are instructed specifically for the purpose of providing independent evidence to the court on Archie’s condition. I assume (though I haven’t seen the case management history) that the family had input into which experts were appointed.

Yes, and the problem is she is discounting all these independent opinions because they are clinicians the hospital has contacted, so she doesn't trust any of them.

But realistically, there is a tiny pool of people who have expertise in this area - the hospital knows who to ask.

When the family/CLC gained independent opinions, it was from random doctors abroad known to have a pro-"life" agenda and who aren't specialists in this area.

She is still on social media in these last few hours. Posting on fb and sharing others posts.

I'd have thought that would be last thing family would do in a child's final hours. We are all different I guess

Less than one hour to be precise. I certainly wouldn't be on social media posting nonsense 50 minutes before Life support for my child was due to end.

@nolongersurprised

She's winding the 'army' up actually

I didn’t mean comfort as in they were consoling her, more that they validated her.

Maybe she doesn’t have much genuine real life support?

I don't think the system has failed Archie and Hollie it's failed the hospital . Repeated court hearings and appeals all with the exact same outcome. Ridiculous IMO.

I agree. It's made animosity from some towards the hospital even greater.

If her or the family are causing issues, they need to be removed and the life support turned off without them.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 02/08/2022 11:17

All the interviewers who have given Hollie a platform to do this are disgraceful in my mind and they are also part of the problem

I don't disagree, but like all media they just want viewers/clicks and will go with whatever narrative best suits this. Try to stop it and, along with howling "censorship", they'd probably claim themselves that things were being hidden, using the parents as their pawns to create an even more extreme sense of grievance

Cantanka · 02/08/2022 11:17

I know the court stay is due to expire at noon so the hospital is at liberty to withdraw treatment from that time, but they may have arranged a slightly later time? I appreciate they probably don’t want to wait long

How on earth do they know that?

I do think that page must be very distressing given apparently know intimate details that can only come from her close circle, and really seem to have a vendetta against her.

I agree. It'll give people ammo to claim conspiracy. I don't agree with tv interviews at all, but I can see why they go ahead.

Ohhh okay. That's what mean I dont think she'd accept whoever is gotten in because far as she feels they're all part of this corrupt system.
I dont think the army have helped with their stories that don't relate at all. Just feeding false hope.

MaggieFS · 02/08/2022 11:22

Dear God I hope there aren't people causing problems on a PICU. The staff are under immense pressure and there are other desperately ill children too.

The behaviour, the accusations, and potentially this are despicable. As pp said, grief does not give you the right to do what you want.

PomRuns · 02/08/2022 11:24

I really hope for calm - it’s so distressing. I know the health care team will be devastated and I can’t imagine the pain the family are in. I’m going to give my 11 year old a squishy hug.

to the posters who shared their experiences - so brave of you to share - hope you are all doing ok.

The strength you have all given us as a family is so heart touching and you have taken our little boy in your hearts and loved him . Thankyou fir all your support from messages to miracles posted to fundraising to just being there . I cannot express how much comfort and strength you have given us . Archie would be so proud of his Army and we will love you all forever"

I realise all too well that it's unwise to assume anything here, but does anyone else feel this sounds like - I don't know - some kind of acceptance and "sign off"?

Anyway, like everyone else I'm just hoping Archie will soon have the peace he deserves

Cuck00soup · 02/08/2022 11:25

As grim as the media reporting is, and it certainly isn't helping either Hollie or Archie, I wouldn't want the media to be stopped from reporting.

Imagine, if there was more to this, or a family court scenario involving social care. It is absolutely right that the media can scrutinise decisions and that we have public access to court documents. We would be a poorer society without that scrutiny.

I agree. The hospital have tried hard to make this dignified for Archie and his family, but it’s not in his best interests to remain ventilated. I think it will be very quick

Yes. And she looked broken in the interview this morning. Different from previous interviews.

I hope so. Hopefully his last hours are surrounded by his family and they get the help they need once it's all over.

The latest post from admin seems very final too. Just about spreading the purple wave..

I hope she has support around her and I hope for Archie's sake he passes peacefully.
