Surely no one is that stupid? If the "army" or family barricade the room this will only hasten the end? He needs so much care and medication, by the hour / minute it seems from the judgements, that not letting the nurses and doctors in, will lead to a chaotic end for Archie.

I'm amazed they have published the time. Surely that will lead to crowds of supporters outside the hospital. But then Hollie would have told the press herself anyway I suppose. I'd be scared to go to work on Monday. My thoughts are more with the staff caring for Archie especially whoever it is that flicks the switch. I hope the staff have access to counselling and don't decide to quit after being treated like scum for doing their job.

It does seem like asking for trouble. Know people on there before said about blocking it but hopefully everyone sees sense.

Soubriquet · 30/07/2022 19:37

They probably will try. They did for Alfie Evans didn’t they?

I would hope that security will be stepped up on Monday. No one can just stroll into PICU anyway.
Fingers crossed there is not a repeat of the Alfie Evans case where people stormed the hospital.

Bunnycat101 · 30/07/2022 19:41

It’s a bloody circus. It will be causing long-term damage to the mental health of the staff, potentially affecting other children in ICU etc, costing god knows how much money to keep an essentially dead child ventilated. They have gone past the point where they’ll be able to facilitate a peaceful withdrawal. The place will have to be full of security and with the language she’s used re ‘executing’ the whole thing will just be fraught. If they ignore the UN it’ll just give them ammunition to rally against the system. It’s awful all round but what on earth does she think is going to happen? He’s not going to wake up but even if he did, what sort of life would she be condemning him too?

AnyFucker · 30/07/2022 19:45

Hollie did not write that letter to the Health Secretary

But why oh why has the time of withdrawal of artificial ventilation been publicised ? I presume that has been shared by people wishing to inflame the situation.

Monkeychimp1 · 30/07/2022 19:47

CC have published the time on their website. What was their motive I wonder - to incite a riot outside the hospital ? They shouldn't have done that although Hollie would likely have released it to the Army anyway . I'm concerned what will happen at the time . Staff and other inpatients and their families at risk .

MayThe4th · 30/07/2022 19:49

I presume that has been shared by people wishing to inflame the situation. copied to clipboard if the hospital have any sense they’ll bring the switching off of the life support forward in order to prevent any security issues.

So in essence, whoever publicised the time might actually have shortened the time the life support will remain.

BangingOn · 30/07/2022 19:56

When did Hollie’s stance change regarding his likelihood of recovery? Reading the appeal judgement it says that the family understand that he isn’t going to recover, yet now she is posting about him ‘waking up’. That bloody army of grief vultures are really not helping her here.

PeloAddict · 30/07/2022 20:02

She said she was warned at that start of lockdown that they were coming for children
So I think there might always have been a bit of conspiracy theory stuff that she believed

TroysMammy · 30/07/2022 19:32

I wonder if he was allowed to go peacefully months ago his organs could have been donated and he could have lived on in other people? However if that had happened and the way his Mum is behaving she would have tried to hound the recipients.

I don't think she'd have allowed organ retrieval as it would be No Going Back when all through she was determined her child was alive and was going to respond..
Maybe that's why she was so appalled (in her interviews) that one Dr announced he wouldn't last the night and on Day 3 they were announcing he was dead.
In her eyes they wanted his organs ( young fit healthy boy ) -there was a news story a couple of weeks ago with parents in Liverpool IIRC with children waiting for heart transplants . It does bring it home that a wider family has to suffer the tragedy to enable any of these children who are waiting in hope .

And why she refused to let them test by removing his ventilator for 2 x 5 minutes . If 3 minutes without oxygen did this then what will 10 minutes do ? And if the test proves he is dead then it's out of her hands .

Of course Hollie didn't write that letter , that has come from her legal team.

Shes always maintained he is going to wake up.

She keeps saying about stuff she never said and things said in court are wrong. Anyone who mentioned it in the group also got deleted and she never commented on why her views were so different.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2022 20:07

Apparently she was told "by a member of stafff" Hmm Never leave your child unattended

Or did they say "We never leave your child unattended" ( ie 2:1 care and hooked up to more machines than a brach of Maplins)

Letter has now been sent as another last ditch appeal

to Secretary of State for Health and Social Care

Dear Mr Barclay,

You will be aware of the awful tragedy our family is going through since our son Archie suffered severe brain damage in April as a result of an online challenge gone wrong. We are grateful to doctors and nurses at Royal London Hospital for the treatment and care given to Archie in the past four months. However, I am sorry to say that throughout that period, our pain and distress has been being much aggravated by the actions of two or three senior doctors at the hospital, and the management of Barts Health NHS Trust.

From day one, the family as well as the treating clinicians have been put under daily pressure from the Trust to give up on Archie, withdraw life support and let him die. After only three weeks, we were dragged into Court at a few hours’ notice. Since then, throughout these three months, we have been rushed from one court hearing to another every few days, having to fight for Archie’s life against a generously funded army of lawyers and NHS managers.

Throughout these months, we were never given even a few days space to cope with the family tragedy. You will be aware that our case now is before the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, who have last night issued an ‘Interim Measures’ injunction to the UK government to keep Archie alive while the Committee considers the case. Under Article 4 of the Optional Protocol to the UN Disability Convention, the interim measures are binding on the United Kingdom as a matter of international human rights law .

Devastatingly, the Trust’s lawyers have responded by telling the family that the Trust intends to defy the UN injunction and to proceed to remove life support from Archie as early as on Monday 1 August .

If this happens, this will be an extraordinary cruelty, and a flagrant breach of Archie’s rights as a disabled person. Archie is entitled to have the decisions about his life and death, taken by the NHS and UK courts, to be scrutinised by an international human rights body. Hastening his death to prevent that would be completely unacceptable .

I trust that you will now act immediately, as a member of the government responsible for the NHS, to ensure that this does not happen, and our country honours its obligations under the international human rights treaties which we have signed and ratified .

Clearly written by the CLC.

Mumofsend · 30/07/2022 20:12

I'm dubious as to how he is classified as disabled

Monkeychimp1 · 30/07/2022 20:17

Clearly written by the CLC

Almost certainly. We have seen Hollie's literacy and meaning no disrespect to her she has clearly not written this letter

Monkeychimp1 · 30/07/2022 20:24

I bet Barclay's office are composing a careful reply

She has always said on social media and in interviews that she believes he will wake up, despite having been said to be resigned to Archie's condition and fate in court.
Her 'army' egging her on has not helped at all... all the "I know xyz who was in a coma and woke up after 4 months". Her head is being filled with rubbish.
It makes you wonder if things would have been different if this had happened before the widespread use of the internet.

Monkeychimp1 · 30/07/2022 20:29

And how many members of Archie's Army are the same as the Alfie's Army before him.
These people are harmful

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/07/2022 20:34

Mumofsend · 30/07/2022 20:12

I'm dubious as to how he is classified as disabled

Because legally they cannot pronounce him dead as the MRI tests were not accepted as standard tests and Hollie refused to allow the 5 minutes x2 Ventilator withdrawel (I'm sure theres a proper name) so death has not been formally announced
So they are insisting he is alive .

In his current body state is he disabled ?, He is unable to do anything - move , respond, eat , drink ( probably because his body is in fact Dead).
But he can (according to Hollie who has a photo on her phone ) pass solid waste . And a dead body cannot pooh (she says) Thank God she didn't share that photo

The appeal to the UN is on the basis that it contravenes his rights as a disabled person.
UN can also rule on the Rights of a Child - theres no doubt hes a child but what rights are being violated there I do not know .

So it suits their agenda to give him the status of disabled (though I know there have been loads of posts on here from parents of children with disability who are extremely offended by this )

wellhelloitsme · 30/07/2022 20:35

Completely agree @Monkeychimp1

Absolute grief thieves most of them.

And they'll move on to the next 'army' from next week.

It's so distasteful and so selfish of them to whip grieving people up in to a frenzy when they're already vulnerable and give them false hope on top of that.

Badger1970 · 30/07/2022 20:51

It's quite baffling to think that most of these army members apparently had 11 years of education thanks to the taxpayer and the school system.

Shame that not one single one of them is apparently able to read a Judgement that's freely available online, but will take the ramblings of a grief struck Mother as gospel.

Any of the 'army' mentioning the court transcripts gets booted from the group. It has become an echo chamber.

The Hospital’s lawyers will need a break from all of this as well
