So will it be Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama?

Personally, I would love to see Barack Obama do it but race issues being what they are in the USA, I can't see it happening.

Hillary Clinton has Bill on her side and he is her main asset, especially as African-Americans love him. I do like Hillary too (especially after reading a biography about her) but I don't understand why she is so loathed by so many in the USA?

DH said that the WASP males, especially those in the South, must be wondering what on earth is happening.

why dislike Hillary?
-she flip-flops on the issues
-she was involved in dodgy dealings
-she lets her slimeball of a husband cheat on her and doesn't say anything because she wants to be president

VOTE OBAMA!

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 09:01

To say I loathe Hilary Clinton would be a gross understatement. She is horrible. She is a hypocrite and a liar, and cares only about her quest for power.

I am all for a the day the US has a woman president, but please God don't let it be Hilary Clinton.

(Do you think God reads mumsnet?)

VOTE OBAMA

I've never voted for a democrat in my life, but I'll be voting for Obama in the primary.

JJ · 04/12/2007 09:13

You can fill out a form to register at Democrats Abroad. You'll need to register as a Democrat or Republican to vote in your state's primary - have just read there's a global primary that overseas voters can vote in, too (it's either that or your state's, not both).

I'm registered in IL and have voted for Obama before - intend to keep doing so!

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 10:45

Hey, I'm registered in IL -- as a Republican. But I'll jump ship to vote against Hilary.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 11:08

I hate Hillary as much as anyone but Eleusis would you really give up your Republican card to vote against her?

I think her getting the democratic vote would be a good thing. Nothing will bring out every Republican on the planet to vote in November like she would. She isn't electable. Let her win the primary I say.

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 11:16

Oh my God. You like to live on the edge, don't you.

And what you say about Hilary's chance of wining people used to say about Bill. Then he was elected... TWICE! I bear that kind of risk.

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 11:17

AndI'll still vote Republican in the general election.

AS you know, I would like Rudy to win -- but I fear we are looking at a choice between Hilary and Obama.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 11:19

I suppose it is a bit risky but Obama's negatives just aren't as high. He could win. Actually I think Edwards would have the best chance out of the three. He is definatly the most sane and the most likeable. In the end I don't think the election should be about who you don't want but who you do.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 11:21

I've gone off Rudy. I think he is probably just as corrupt as the Clintons. I also think all those marriages and cheating on his wife shows low moral character

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 11:48

Yeah, I sort of agree. But I want a middle road republican. One who is pro choice, fiscally conservative and socially liberal. Rudy fits.

And I hate to be the one to say thsi I really do but... Hillary can win, and sadly I think she probably will.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 11:52

If they put up a pro choice canidate they are risking people backing a third party. That will be a huge mistake.

Chin up, do you know how much dirt they will have gathered on her the last eight years? I'm sure they have it all waiting for her. Rumor has it that Bill, suprise suprise, hasn't been keeping his pants up either. Thats all bound to come out.

GrumpYULEhorsewoman · 04/12/2007 12:04

I feel this thread has been rather hijacked by Republicans.

GO HILARY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually saw a Hilary bumper sticker in the deep south this summer - how's that for a first?

Rudy Giuliani? Are you INSANE?

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 12:17

You know if you are all such big fans you should at least learn how to spell her name

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 15:46

So this thread is just for Democrats? And here I am thinking that as a US citizen and registered voter that this thread is relevant to me. Silly me.

VOTE OBAMA (if you are eligible)

Obama's politics are just as socialist as Hillary's. But at least he isn't a slime bucket.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 15:58

Actually he is even more of a socialist. His views are even more extrreme. Let me give you an example of his extreme views. Now I know you are pro-choice but bear with me .

Hillary Clinton is of course in favor of Abortion up until 9 months. Obama goes even further. He believes that any child who survives a nine month termination, and this did happen when this was legal, he thinks that child should then be killed. Even though its a newborn. He thinks that this is acceptable so that the right of a mother to have a nine month termination stays in place. Even Hillary has not gone on record supporting this, although it wouldn't suprise me to find out that it didn't bother her.

I sometimes wonder if he is a better choice than Hillary

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 16:08

He also doesn't believe that people should think that the money they earn is "their money" because he believes that it is pubic investment that allows people to live the way we do. I mean it doesn't get any more Marxist than that.

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 16:11

Do you think it's too late to abort Hillary?

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 16:13

Seriously, I personally am not in favor of late term abortions. But, I really don't weigh the abortion issue that heavily when choosing whom to vote for.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 16:14

I realise that but even fiscally the mans a nutcase

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 16:15

I guess what I am saying is that maybe we shouldn't allow our hatred of Hillary (and you know how much I hate her) allow someone worse to get elected.

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 16:21

Nope. I hate her. Hate her hate her hate her. Prefer Obama any day.

paulaplumpbottom · 04/12/2007 16:50

Even if his policies are worse? Really?

ahundredtimes · 04/12/2007 16:55

LOL @ 'doesn't get any more marxist than that'. Sorry, but it was funny.

Why do you hate HC so much?

GloriaInEleusis · 04/12/2007 17:05

Because she is crooked -- even for a politician.

And, her policies are about as bad as Obama. BEsides, how can we really know what she stands for.

I'm for Iraq. No I'm not. I'm for this. No I'm not. I'm for that. No I'm not.
