That striding about without notes business was quite impressive. I did get bored though.

missed it!

not doubt we'll get a precis on the news

constancereader · 03/10/2007 15:54

I thought it was good. It was well delivered, but he is good at that bit.

SueBarooeeooeeooooo · 03/10/2007 15:55

I'm now decided. I shall go into the polling booth and write 'David Cameron' on my ballot paper.

constancereader · 03/10/2007 15:57

good for you

gogogojo · 03/10/2007 15:57

I dont know but I wish he'd bog orf! The security in Blackpool at the mo is ridiculously overblown - they are concrete road blocks through the town centrre FGS - like flaming Beirut!

Callisto · 03/10/2007 17:29

No election this year then...

LazyLinePUMPKINJane · 03/10/2007 17:30

LOL sue

WideWebWitch · 03/10/2007 17:31

didn't see it but he's almost doing it for me on the non dom stuff and some other sensible stuff he said that I've forgotten now

WideWebWitch · 03/10/2007 17:31

And I'm a LIFELONG Champagne Socialst

PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 03/10/2007 17:33

PMSL Sue......

Can'rt see I will be voting for him, though. As we're not part of his target households, we seem to not exist! Don't home own, reliant on (disability) benefots for 2 X ds (disability benefits include WTC by the way), Dh with 2 jobs so ahrdworking and me a student but no chance of ever inheriting anything much (one MIL has disowned us due to the disabilities, my aprents tenants and FIL lves us dearly but his partner is dh's age)

TheSFXshape · 03/10/2007 17:34

here we go again

because of his impressive delivery or because you agree with their policies?

scampadoodle · 03/10/2007 17:34

Well, he hasn't changed the way I'll vote.

TheDullWitch · 03/10/2007 17:35

He makes me less scared of the Tories getting in.

TheSFXshape · 03/10/2007 17:37

did anyone catch the piece on George Osborne in the guardian or observer, can;t remember which at the weekend.

his idea of his old school's liberal and wide social spectrum was that it did not matter 'if your mum was the head of a multinational corporation or a solicitor in Kew'

PMSL

ssd · 03/10/2007 17:43

its his air of superiority that gets me

TheDullWitch · 03/10/2007 17:44

I know, I think a dangerous complacency, plus a "Oh let's have a bloody change" mentality is going to let Tories in.

And before you know it, it ll be goodbye free nursery places etc etc

And silly old Gordon has painted himself into a corner. If he doesn't call the election now, he's going to look frit.

OP posts:
PeachyFleshCrawlingWithBugs · 03/10/2007 18:02

Isn't Gordon pretty much out of time to call an election- they said it had to be this week for Occtober on the News? Anything else would be too wintery for the risk.

PMSL at geotrge Osborne's social breadth- and crying simultaneously

FWIW I don't think they'll get in, too many people like the idea of change buta lso like the benefits of a labour Giovernment (eg WTC) to take the risk

NadineBaggott · 03/10/2007 18:02

Oh just seen it, I still not keen on him but I liked what he said.

So Dave my Tory vote is still safe!

BeetrootMNRoyalty · 03/10/2007 18:04

nah - never will.

Only Bryan ferry coud make me go tory and he woud have to be very very dirty

scampadoodle · 03/10/2007 18:05

Oh George Osborne gives me the creeps. I haven't read that article yet because I can't bring myself to look at the accompanying photo
But all that stuff about inheritance tax & stamp duty: er, how ya gonna pay for that, Georgie Porgie? oh yeah...abolishing free nursery places etceraaah, etceteraaah...

But I am really worried they'll squeak through because of people like my mother who read the Daily Mail & are obsessed with inheritance tax even though they (or we, rather) will end up paying very little. In fact, if it meant keeping out a Tory government, I'd happily pay triple inheritance tax on whatever I get from my mother...

constancereader · 03/10/2007 18:42

Well, scrapping free nursery places isn't what they plan to fund the inheritance tax cuts with. The idea seems to be take it from the super rich who get off very lightly under the present government. For some reason.

George Osbourne also gives me the creeps though.

Piffle · 03/10/2007 19:04

I'm with scampdoodle
anyone with half a brain can look at the economy since 1997 and know that letting any Tory in, however artfully PR'd, casually and familiarly attired, however down to earth they might seem... is out of the question.

Piffle · 03/10/2007 19:08

George osborne gives great anagrams ds and I decided
