That striding about without notes business was quite impressive. I did get bored though.

OP posts:
Cammelia · 04/10/2007 18:45

name them toomanygraves

WendyWeber · 04/10/2007 18:50

I don't think I said he's an idiot and I'm sure he's a lovely bloke but I doubt his understanding of my life

constancereader · 04/10/2007 18:53

I thought it was funny, but I too think it is an overstatement.

I honestly don't think all politicians from either side are corrupt. Some are, undoubtedly, but many are well intentioned. I think it is the media agression that makes them all sound so defensive and cagey. Lots of interviewers seem more interested in catching them out than finding things out.

Eddie Mair is a good example of someone who asks challenging questions without being rude. So it is possible.

Cammelia · 06/10/2007 20:32

It must just be me who has met the corrupt ones then (from both main parties)

PSCMUM · 06/10/2007 20:38

CAmmelia all the labour MPs children do NOT go to private school, some of them do yes, but not all, not even the majority. And in fact Tony Blair was the first Prime Minister in British history NOT to send any of his children to private school.

Back to the OP, I also think David Cameron is a (small, ineffective) dick.

Cammelia · 06/10/2007 21:06

PSCMUM please don't be so naive

The Blairs secretly bought in top-dollar private coaching for their children whilst pretending to the public that their children were at state school (albeit a selective school which is part of the Catholic Church)

Magdelanian · 06/10/2007 21:21

Come into this thread quite late. DC comes over as a smug git. So what! Must check out Zac though. IMO please dont let the tories in. Dont undo every policy that has been brought in to help families with kids and working peoples rights, just got increased holiday leave this week, cos that's what the tories do on past form, strip it all away. As for Inheritance tax it doesnt effect most people and for those it does, except the very rich, its only due to mass inflation of house prices which may even out anyway.

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:23

Cammelia, I'm not being naive - the Blair kids did not go to private school. I know this for absolute certain having seen it with my own two eyes! The school is Catholic yes, but is not selective - you don't have to take an exam to get in or pay fees....so how is that selective? Its comprehensice, and he is the first PM ever to not send his children to privtae school. I didn't like lots of things Tony Blair did, but really, he was NOT lying to the public about his children's education. What nonsense. You've just proved that you don't know what you're talking about, know that, and are happily stating it as fact. Nonsense. You are literally typing lies into your keyboard. how funny.

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:24

I didn't say his children went to private school. I know which school his children went to. I'm saying he bought them private tuition.

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:26

I said 'Cammelia the blairs children did not go to private school'
you said 'PSC mum please don't be so naive'

sorry, silly me, i thought you were saying that what i had said was naive...did I miss something?

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:27

It is selective on religious grounds.

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:29

Your naivity is on the basis of thinking that the children were in an ordinary state school. Plus like I said they bought in private extra tuition.

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:29

CAmmelia you said this:

"Oh for goodness sake when will people realise that all the labour mp's send their children to private schools and they all have private health insurance and have flash cars and do everything that overpaid nobodies do whilst claiming everything on expenses

And you're all paying for all of it"

And I said, no they don't all go to provate school, and I cited the blairs as an example.

You're just taking straight up bollocks.

Bet you're in the womens institute and know excellent jam making recipes.

much rather my taxes paid the salary of progressive labour MPs than paid the salary of your lot of greedy selfish money grabbing society dividing (often) racist (often) homophobic two faced posh boys with no vision, no regard for immigrants, poor people, or vulnerable people.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK>

"much rather my taxes paid the salary of progressive labour MPs than paid the salary of your lot of greedy selfish money grabbing society dividing (often) racist (often) homophobic two faced posh boys with no vision, no regard for immigrants, poor people, or vulnerable people"

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:34

Why Thank You tired!

i tend to be quite brilliant when i am furious.

(or just you know, mediocre, but this is better than my usual incontinent wafflings)

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:35

Is that aimed at the Tories PCSMUM?

What on earth makes you think I'm a Tory voter just because I detest Labour ?

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:39

Sorry Cammelia - are you not a Tory? well then my most humble apologies, that is an insult of the lowest order...its just the way you were talking utter shite that you were making up as you went along in a kind of superior tone - i stupidly thought that since you had all the mannerisms of a Tory, you must be one?!

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:42

I think you're coming close to being very rude there PSCMUM

nimnom · 08/10/2007 18:43

On the subject of talking 'utter shite' did anyone hear the great Mr 'I'm not the king of Spin' Brown today!!

catinthehat · 08/10/2007 18:45

I'm getting such a good impression of you PSC you seem so brilliant(OK you admitted it yourself), incisive AND articulate. Has anyone suggested you go into politics?

tiredemma · 08/10/2007 18:45

I like GB- he did make a mistake this week- but I still trust him as a leader.

David Cameron looks incapable of running a bath, nevermind a country.

Cammelia · 08/10/2007 18:47

"Sorry Cammelia - are you not a Tory? well then my most humble apologies, that is an insult of the lowest order...its just the way you were talking utter shite that you were making up as you went along in a kind of superior tone - i stupidly thought that since you had all the mannerisms of a Tory, you must be one?! "

What have I made up?

suey2 · 08/10/2007 18:48

PCSMUM I really don't think you can infer that sending your kids way across town to a selective school (albeit on grounds of religion rather than merit) which happens to be one of the top schools in the country (state or private) is in any way equivalent to your average state school education. The results at the Oratory are way better than many top private schools.
In doing this he has managed to get the best possible education for his children without paying for it. Not a reason for admiration IMO

ssd · 08/10/2007 18:49

DC makes me feel poor

how could he ever help working class folk?

like asking me to teach nuclear physics

PSCMUM · 08/10/2007 18:51

PMSL tired re 'run himself a bath'...this is excellent, I may well steal this for myself.

catinthehat...that is so sweet of you to say............or are you seriously taking the piss out of me?!

EIther way - yes, I love politics, but no time to fully immerse myself at the mo - its a bit 24/7 and I'd like to see some of my kids first! but when they are teenagers, hopefully I'll be more involved.
