My heart goes out to her family and friends and I'm hoping she will be found soon.

Maybe they meant dehydration instead of hunger?

bouncingraindrops · 15/08/2019 11:27

Im not putting forward a conspiracy theory just saying its not something that i find feasible as a cause of death.

Try not saying.

HTH.

Maybe they meant dehydration instead of hunger?

It would have been both. In those temperatures you would dehydrate very very quickly, she was very slim, and the feeling of thirst passes. So very sadly she lived an expected amount of time without food or adequate clean water in high temperatures.

There were also officials present during the autopsy from thr U.K. and France.

ChicCroissant · 15/08/2019 12:57

Some people just can't see that their opinion isn't fact

I often find these are the people who claim to 'tell it like it is' as well 'I tell it like it is, me' when it is exactly what youarenotkiddingme said, they mistake their own opinion on the matter in hand for facts.

The family need support and sympathy, not wild speculation right now. No-one expects to go on holiday and come home without one of their children. Show some compassion, littlebird.

LemonPrism · 15/08/2019 14:32

@Delatron hunger caused an ulcer in her stomach to pop (perforation) which allows bacteria into the stomach lining. She likely died of sepsis

CaramelWayfarer · 15/08/2019 15:36

I've spent a lot of time in Malaysia as I lived in a neighbouring country. Those criticising the place and any search and subsequent info that has come out are completely out of order. The Malaysians are such nice people and this will have devastated them.

Malaysia is covered in jungle and palm oil plantations. Aside from the big towns, it is not densely populated at all with small villages dotted here and there. It is not geared up for tourism at all and if you are outside of KL will probably stay within the confines of your large, international resort and venture out with local guides. There are lots of things going on e.g. unwelcome wildlife and dengue fever.

I've been there quite a few times before DC and TBH it is not geared up for tourism like Thailand or Singapore, it's neighbours. As soon as I heard she was missing I was pretty sure she had gone wandering and got lost. This is going to sound really awful, but TBH it is not a place I would take my DC, especially if they had additional needs.

Delatron · 15/08/2019 15:59

Ah ok lemonPrism thanks for clarifying, I hadn’t read the part about the ulcer. Was thinking you can go without food for longer than water but not with underlying issues.

beanaseireann · 15/08/2019 17:05

Nora's French grandfather has said that he believes she was abducted.

Has the missing clothing been found yet?

Ellie56 · 15/08/2019 17:49

I was so so sad to read that poor Nora had been wandering around for a week, lost and alone. She must have felt so scared. From the news it appears she was found near the waterfall she was so excited about. I do hope she saw it before she died.

I can't stop thinking about her poor parents. They must be devastated and the "if onlys" going round in their heads must be unbearable.

The only crumb of comfort they have is that at least they have found her and can take her home.

RIP beautiful innocent Nora. Sad

redlily12 · 15/08/2019 18:11

just read a news report saying the family still believe she was abducted and are not happy with the explanation. They think there are unanswered questions.

Bluntness100 · 15/08/2019 18:16

I think the family are saying they will wait for the results of thr different tests before finally deciding.

I suspect this is just very hard to accept for them.

There were british French and Malaysians at that autopsy and there was no evidence of injury on her body at all other than some small scratches on her lower leg. If she was abducted and held for a week, before being killed, she would have been injured in some way.

So where as I understand why they are waiting for the toxicology reports I think that the fact she was uninjured and this is collaborated by all three counties, says this really is highly likely that she wandered off and got lost.

SparklyMagpie · 15/08/2019 18:49

@Bluntness100 her parents have maintained that from day 1 haven't they ? :(

I can only imagine that they are trying to come up with every explanation but the one they've been given

It's just awful :(

youarenotkiddingme · 15/08/2019 19:00

ITV need have reported that they are not investigating further and family have been told they can bring her home.

Hopefully they will get the privacy they need and anything they wish to do in the background provides them with any answers or reassurance they need.

Chilledout11 · 15/08/2019 19:03

I'm glad that they are bringing her home and hope they can grieve privately and know how much love the world wishes them 🌹

Passthecherrycoke · 15/08/2019 19:10

I can see why they would think that. They didn’t expect her to go off- if they had any inkling she might, they would’ve put extra precautions in to keep her from wandering so you can’t blame them really.

Oddly, I’ve just remembered a vaguely similar although still very different situation with a family friend- it was daytime, but he insisted on going out after they checked into their layover in Nairobi. His wife couldn’t stop him it was very- I need go get outside NOW. He was gone for hours wandering round Nairobi, and was robbed. It was put down to a reaction to malaria medication making him confused, disorientated and I think he was very hot, which is why he needed to get out. I wonder if something similar could’ve happened? They’d take malaria medication to go
To Malaysia I presume.

GingerKittenHuman · 15/08/2019 20:38

Anti malarials was my first thought too and I wasn’t sure if mentioning it was ghoulish. Coupled with jet lag and disorientation.

I used to be an expat and I had an adverse reaction to Larium and it came on suddenly. I’d only taken them for 3 or 4 days and my brain suddenly became scrambled. I knew that I had to pull the handle on the inside of the car to open the door but kept switching the interior light off and on wondering why the door wouldn’t open. It was awful.

At a tented safari camp, the manager said the guards would sometimes find tourists wandering around the camp at night as well as hearing people with terrible nightmares. They’d say that they knew they were the ones taking Larium. That said I’m not sure it’s prescribed as often as these reactions are known to occur.

Outsomnia · 15/08/2019 20:46

The child has been found. That is so much better than her not being found.

AFAIS the child had no injuries, and was not defiled in any way. According to reports.

May she rest in peace now.
