This is getting very circular. On any analysis it is a tragedy of proportions I hope will be unimaginable for all of us. Surely we can agree on that Bobbysmum ?

Un be-fucking-lievable.

[livid]

Sack it. I am deeply upset for this mans daughter and his wife, and for him. I haven't got the slightest inclination to pick over the moronic speculative ramblings of a pitchfork-wielder.

CaptainUnderpants · 06/06/2007 19:59

It would appear that this guy was in police custody when he was sectioned , which would mean that he would have been seen by two doctors and a social worker , They would have to have been in agreemnet that the section was required.

having worked in a police station and requested pople to be seen under the Mental Health I know that it is not easy for someone to get sectioned and your 'criminal' who pretends to be mentally ill would not get sectioned like this . That type of criminal would have assessments whilst on remand in prison.

To be sectioned like this this man has serious mental impairment or psychopathic disorder.

He may be sectioned now but that doesn't mean to say that in 28 days time he will be sectioned again, so he 'hasn't got away with it ' as some posters claim.

bobbysmum07 · 06/06/2007 19:59

He wouldn't have been able to hold down the job he had if he was having treatment for any kind of mental illness.

And when the police arrived, he'd just battered his baby half to death. I think he'd probably have been able to convince them he was out of his mind at that point.

tiredemma · 06/06/2007 20:00

No wonder there is such a BLOODY stigma attatched to those SUFFERING with mental health issues.

ScummyMummy · 06/06/2007 20:00

bobbysmum is a blancmangehead in terms of undersatmding mental illness, I fear. So am I but at least I have insight.

Mercy · 06/06/2007 20:00

bobbysmum - have you any idea of who or what is involved when a person is sectioned?

Because I'd like to hear what you think happens.

dinny · 06/06/2007 20:00

rubbish, plenty of people with mental illness hold down jobs, FGS

WHAT?

He wouldnt have been able to hold down a job???

On what grounds??

The idea behind Community Mental Health teams is to try and keep people in work- leading a normal life. Not leaving them to become stressed, depressed and unemployable.

bobbysmum07 · 06/06/2007 20:02

Tell you what, I can completely see why all you lot understand about mental illness.

And there we have it. Narrowmindedness.

cannot be arsed to discuss this with you any further.

You clearly do not have a clue what you are on about.

I suppose you think that the asylums should all be re-opened??

Bobbysmum - when the police would have arrived at the scene I doubt very much that they would have hung around with him and waited for doctors etc to wlak all over a crime scenec to section him.

He would have been wisked away to the nearest police station and delat with there, as there would have been evidnce to collect from him and his clothing and he would have to have been seen by a police doctor again for evidence.

I suggest you ask your father about all this as it aapears you dont have much of a clue.

Mercy · 06/06/2007 20:07

bobbysmum, do you know what the procedure is when somoeone is being sectioned?

Yes or no?

Piffle · 06/06/2007 20:12

Ignorance is bliss... FFS

Surely if it was that easy Bobby everyone who committed such a crime would be sectioned. And you make it sound like being sectioned is a bloody picnic, I can promise you being in a home for the mentally ill, accused of murder, is not the soft option.

In a case like that it is almost certain he had known mental health problems, as in the UK it is arrest first - mental health assessment later, much later.

One could speculate but given the tragedy it would not be kind to do so

ScummyMummy · 06/06/2007 20:13

It's an absolutely horrible thing to happen. Utterly tragic. Not surprised that you are sad and unable to contemplate mental illness as sufficient explanation bobbysmum07. But as atilla and others have said mental illness can cause utter tragedies. Can you imagine emerging from a confused terrifying haze to find you had murdered your daughter?
