Yes AnOccasionalDelurker judging by the 9 pages of comments under the latest article on the DM there are a lot of exasperated and irate readers on there.

Beingrippedoff · 25/07/2017 22:13

Hmm I'm pissed off about deletion of last thread too. So much important stuff on there.
They are asking for the impossible. They simply can't recreate an entire ITU in their flat. Apart from anything else, it not right that one person gets extra super duper treatment unless the same can be offered to every other patient. It's just not right, they are asking too much.
And asking for a refund of any private costs they run up too!!
Rationing in the NHS is real and is happening everywhere. Realistic medicine needs to be the norm of the whole thing will collapse.
A week of intensive care. In their flat. Then what?? The next delay, the next final thing.
I hope the judge can be strong tomorrow, not just for Charlie's sake, but for c and c too. They are just prolonging their own agony, and it's not benefitting anyone

sodablackcurrant · 25/07/2017 22:13

@Maryz

Agree.

news.sky.com/story/charlie-gards-parents-in-urgent-plea-for-help-to-take-son-home-to-die-10962006

This is also breaking, says they are appealing for an PIC Doctor to help them..............

BubblesBuddy · 25/07/2017 22:14

The Judge has been asked to decide if Charlie can go home to die. The BBCs statement is correct. That's why the case is back in court. The Judge also said that hospital or hospice are the only two choices that are possible. Guardian's QC had quite a big input today and the Judge is not happy about mediation failing but if one side is determined that their view is to prevail then back to Court it is.

MrsLettuce · 25/07/2017 22:14

Yes maryz that's pretty much what I saw too.

sparechange · 25/07/2017 22:16

tequila
BBC News channel have just reported it as well
They read the statement that said the parents last wish is for him to experience a few days of 'tranquility at home'

Tranquility?! To suffer that journey, to be moved into temporary and sub-optimal equipment just so it will fit through the door? To be looked after my nurses with no previous experience of treating him because they are the only people they can find to take on the job?
To be crammed into a tiny flat filled with people?

I'll be honest. That isn't my definition of 'tranquil'

nippiesweetie · 25/07/2017 22:16

I wonder if someone influential at the Fail knows more about the subject or GOSH than most. Loathe the Fail but it did good work on the Stephen Lawrence case because the editor happened to know Neville Lawrence.

Thanks Jane, took my app a while to update I think.

Writerwannabe83 · 25/07/2017 22:16

Why are the parents saying a transfer to a Hospice would be brutal yet it's not brutal to transfer him home?

That implies they understand there is the potential for great stress on Charlie should he be moved from GOSH but they're willing to put him through it as long as they get to take him home because then it's worth it?

I agree completely, Maryz

I also regret that MN didn't simply delete anything considered inappropriate and leave the rest to stand, but of course it's their business to do with as they wish

NorthernLurker · 25/07/2017 22:18

I think they mean brutal for them and he family, not the baby.

straighttalker · 25/07/2017 22:18

Yes, story as reported on Sky, BBC, etc

"The parents of terminally-ill baby Charlie Gard have pleaded for help from doctors to take him home to die.
Connie Yates and Chris Gard have appealed for any paediatric intensive care doctor to come forward to help them realise their last wish for their son."

Form an orderly queue, paediatric intensivists...
Would you like to be part of this saga?

Sostenueto · 25/07/2017 22:20

Announcement on news on radio 4 .CY pleading for specialist to come forward so she can take Charlie home to die.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/07/2017 22:20

BBC has reported on R4 10 pm news that the Gards are appealing for a doctor to come forward to help them allow Charlie to die at home.

I would be very surprised if there is an appropriately qualified and experienced doctor prepared to do that. I also wonder if they have investigated whether PICU nurses will be available. It's not as simple as just ringing an agency and ordering one.

@nippiesweetie the family's spokesperson Alison Smith Squire runs a PR business called Featureworld - she writes for the Fail on a freelance type basis. Her website says her role is to "sell your story":

www.featureworld.co.uk

MrsLettuce · 25/07/2017 22:21

I wish I thought you were wrong Northern.

Ellie56 · 25/07/2017 22:21

Writer because the hospice cannot give ICU care. They want ICU care at home that's why they are appealing for doctors.

oakleaffy · 25/07/2017 22:22
