I don't like what Trump said but he clearly demonstrated how stupid everyone is today about the American constitution. The rationale around the 2nd amendment is about the right of the people (what they call milita in the clause) of the United states of America being 'armed' so they are able to overthrow a tyrannical leadership. Guns help but it's more about people uprising to overthrow someone as awful as HC.
Trump has killed the GOP who at this point would be better off splitting into the GOP proper and teabaggers. The democrats would be better splitting into champagne democrats (ie HC) and the social democrats (ie Bernie).
If Bloomberg ran as an independent I think everyone would vote for him. I don't agree with a lot of what he did as mayor of NYC but he always did what he thought was right and only now that DiBlassio is in charge do we see just how much he did for vulnerable groups such as the homeless and disabled. If Bloomberg ran I would be happy to donate to his campaign just because right now we, the American people, do not have a good option to vote as president. HC is just awful. I can't vote for someone who selected a VP whose first words were in Spanish. We have millions of people living in this country from all over the world (in my town lots of Indians, Israeli, Europeans, Chinese and Koreans as well as South Americans). Don't their votes matter?!?
Also, Trump is the only candidate willing to talk about childcare and it's points such as this which are getting him votes. Right now the deduction is $6k for two or more children. We have three children and next year our childcare bill will be $35-39k. We spend less than most of our friends who have a nanny. It would be $45-60k if we had a nanny. We live in the NYC area and while an income of $150k sounds amazing, it does not go far at all in these parts by the time you have paid for health insurance, copays and housing. To give an idea of how expensive it is to live in the NYC metro area, our property taxes are $15k a year alone and that is very low for this area. Most people are paying $20-30k for an average family home. Help with property taxes is based on adjusted income so doesn't really take childcare costs into consideration. Here in NJ the state will assist if your adjusted household income is $75k or less. There are plenty of families who fall into the category if full childcare costs were deductible.
