It's not acceptable but I'd be appalled if I find out my son had behaved like that!

He wasn't thinking, was he? Sounds like he snapped and had enough. Not acceptable at all, he shouldn't have touched them but can see how it happened.

They certainly don't, but tbh I could see my dad doing something like this in another ten years or so. His tolerance for ' rude little shirts' has got increasingly lower recently and while he'd have never done anything like it a few years ago, I could see it happening I can just imagine him giving some gobby little toe rag a clip round the ear

Both in the wrong. Boys have no manners or respect and man needs to control himself. No doubt the man will be painted as the baddy and the kids behaviour excused by sad face daily mail parents.

I can understand why he did it but it's best to just move seats and ignore. I don't even bother to say anything now as you just get a load of abuse. My son knows not to do it, I have done my best in that sense, the children of others I have concluded are their resposibility.

The kids shouldn't have had their feet on the seats but that's no excuse for assault! If he had an issue with their behaviour or them being unaccompanied he should have informed staff. All he is teaching the children is that bullying and violence is acceptable to get your way. He is old enough to know better!

Yes Damsel, but round here they would have just carried on once staff were out of sight. Best thing to do is move seats.

The man behaved as he did because he is old enough to remember a time when children did as they were told. If he had called the guard he would have done nothing. I remember a family of four sitting in reserved seats and refusing to move; the guard was called and his solution was to put the people whose seats had been taken into another carriage, thus separating them from the rest of their party, who intended to work together during the journey. The family remained in situ and the three children learned a valuable lesson: ignore the rules and nothing will happen to you.
I am quite sure the man will be tracked down and punished, whereas those badly behaved boys will regard themselves as victims and heroes.

You are right Goblin, because I see those children as adults on the buses and trains everyday - still putting their dirty feet on the seats. So they learn, nothing will happen you can do as you like.

Where was the adult responsible for them? If they can behave like that, they shouldn't be alone in public until they can be trusted.

Good for that bloke! No lasting damage and hopefully the little toads will think twice next time (though in today's cottonwool climate they'll probably get a huge payout and the old bloke will get a public flogging).

FFS he punched a young boy in the ribs. I don't care if the lad was pulling moonies at him, that is so beyond out of order. It is not "a clip round the ear" (when is/was it ever a clip round the ear, let's face it).

The kids should have been made to get off at the next stop & the parents collect them.

Where were the parents?

Appalling behaviour by the boys. The man expected them to behave with common decency. Shame on them and their parents, I'm sick of badly behaved children being defended.

Who is defending their behaviour?

It is shocking that nobody present called the police.
