Like now, when he can't bring himself to comment on Saddam Hussein's execution.

Even Dubya has commented on it, FGS. What is the matter with that pusillanimous creep, our PM? Is he really so afraid of offending someone by saying the wrong thing? Why can't he comment?

Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk, he's horrid.

There, feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest.

yeh, I think gorgeous George might just be a bit of a perv , although I have always admired his views re, Palestine.

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 14:59

me to re: gg, but give them enough rope..

also, re tony blair on mumsnet, i think he would be too scared, remember the slow hand clap at the WI..?
he knows he's safer in house of commons, with public school boy banter of benches opposite, big time wimp...

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 07/01/2007 15:15

Tee hee hee - I like the idea of TB on here. Although he would probably have one of his spindoctors to type away in his place...

Wonder if Cherie uses MN - apparently she buys stuff on ebay...

ludaloo · 07/01/2007 15:24

OOhhh just started reading a book called "FUTURE:TENSE...The Coming World Order" (By Gwynne Dyer)

Not that far into it but its scary reading!

This is the general Jist...

"Journalists and historian Gwynne Dyer argues that America must pull out of Iraq, lest the stand off between Islamists and American Neo-conservatives escalates into a new global conflict.
Dyer contends that the terrorist threat is a red herring, and that the radical Islamists' dream of a worldwide jihad against the west is a Fantacy, but the Washington's attempt to revive Pax Americana - its dream of global military dominance - is real "

I really didn't realise the implications of all this....madness!

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 15:25

You know that white dress she wore to visit the Vatican ?

I heard she bought it on ebay for a fiver !

SecondhandRose · 07/01/2007 15:28

Didn't Blair pay 3.2 million pounds for a house, that is the mark of a true labour man. Not.

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 15:36

ludaloo - there is a well-known female academic at Warwick University, a Prof of International Relations (she used to be at LSE - unfortunately her name escapes me - I do have the book though somewhere in a box) who argues that the world is becoming increasingly dominated by non-State actors (examples of these would be: Al Quaida and other terror orgs., the Neo-Cons, the US Jewish lobby, the mafia, global drug cartels, multinational corps, etc) and that this is erroding the ability of nation-states, like the UK and USA, to make INDEPENDENT policy decisions.

I read her book in the early 1990's and believe that her work is even more relevant now.

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 16:28

ys - sounds a good read; i've got to be careful and pace myself

  • a while ago i was having too many bi-polar moments and realised it was in part be down to robert fisk book i was reading, i was in tears every night and outraged in the morning..hence lighter night reading these days!
ludaloo · 07/01/2007 16:42

That sounds good YR...
I have also got "Fahrenheight 9/11" (Michael Moore) to read too..
The more I read the more my head hurts though...its a hell of a lot to get your head around...

I think my Dh has read the book you are refering to Suzycreamcheese....

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 16:43

Suzy - I know what you mean - I read this hard core stuff in my youth - I am too old for it now - I only read Dr Seuss before bed time now

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 16:50

ludaloo - have you seen the film ? 9/11 ?

There is one scene where Moore is standing in front of the US Senate (I think) with a clip board.

He goes up to every Senator walking past and says (I am paraphrasing):

Moore: "Excuse me Sir, did you support the Iraq War ?" and if they say "Yes", he says "Oh great, do you have any adult children ?"

"Yes !"

Moore: "So, would you mind signing this to put forward the name of your son/daughter as the next recruit to be sent to Iraq" ?

They all run off off in a hurry of course.

You should see the look on their faces, hypocrites !

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 07/01/2007 17:35

That's an interesting thought, Yellowrose, that non-states are eroding the power of states... That has really scary implications.

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 17:51

yellowrose, dear old mad old dr.suess - we love him!

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 18:17

Yes, well we only have to look at the power of the Russian mafia (+ oil corps. linked to Russian mafia) over Putin, or the Neo Cons over Bush to get scared to death...it's all bonkers !

I am not sure which is actually MORE scarey though, Al Quaida/another terror org. running the world or Bush ?

I wonder what Dr Seuss would have to say about it all ?

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 18:29

ludaloo ..it called great war for civilisation, and i cant get past algeria..should try again soon but not bedtime reading..

yr - i think he does have alot to say on human condition,(thinking sneetches, two zaks..) though maybe not specific geopolitical situations, understandable i suppose not his target audience!

drosophila · 07/01/2007 20:39

Do you think there will ever be proportional representation here?

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 21:17

no not really, and there are different several systems of it..
plus it could end up being too near to democracy, too many small parties getting sniff of power, independants, local issue folk and would ultimately diminish the power the major parties have now, i dont think they will give it away easily..
also, i do think when people vote, some like to back a winner as if its the derby iykwim

ludaloo · 07/01/2007 21:22

YR...I haven't seen the film of 9/11...the book I have yet to read is the reader to the film.
I would like to though...

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 21:26

Do you reckon the next PM might be a horse ?

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 21:27

ludaloo, I am sure the book is very good, sorry to have given away one scene of the film though !

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 21:29

What are the odds ?

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 21:43

yr, horse for PM - great,
just fallen at first hurdle is charlie's tipple...coming up at the rear is bulldogbeeface neck and neck with mindless mingless & fat gordy...and stretching out round the last bend its... Shergar!
back to save his country...shergar for PM!

they could alter no:10 door to be like stable door and he could pop out for oats n photoshoot!

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 21:47

Excellent imagry Suzy, and if the winner has a long face 99% of the time, we will know for sure that it's Gordon !

Boom, boom !

suzycreamcheese · 07/01/2007 22:08

and we'd phewm know it was phewm gordy for sure as his phewm..phewm breathing problem..
now we'd probably just think he'd been at chepstow for the 2.30 queen mothers stakes....and lost!!

yellowrose · 07/01/2007 22:43

lol
