Like now, when he can't bring himself to comment on Saddam Hussein's execution.

Even Dubya has commented on it, FGS. What is the matter with that pusillanimous creep, our PM? Is he really so afraid of offending someone by saying the wrong thing? Why can't he comment?

Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk, he's horrid.

There, feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest.

I think by now even georgie boy wants this war over.

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 11:12

do you think so?....Well actually I was under that impression...but according to the news..he has definately asked for more money...to send more troops in...Does he think 20 thousand more men with guns is gonna end this quickly???

Surely he would have filed to get them all out of there if he really wanted this to stop??

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 11:15

here have a read

Its the democrats that seem to want to stop his madness....

yellowrose · 06/01/2007 11:40

On the news this morning they said that the MOD is increasing the recruiting age for new soldiers from 26 to 32 (I think I have the right age ?) which means that some soldiers could be involved in armed conflict until they are 55 !

How old is TB ? Does he fancy a stint in Iraq (with his sons perhaps, so that they don't just spend all their time having parties in mummy's expensive Bristol flat !!) ?

He said in an interview that he wanted "to do something truly worth while" after leaving as PM.

How about showing that he had actually done something worth while while he was STILL IN OFFICE ?

Since you started the war Tony, how about fighting in Iraq for a few months, it might be a worth while career change for you love ?

yellowrose · 06/01/2007 11:44

Rosk - vote rigging here in the UK ? How dare you suggest it ? {grin]

Pann · 06/01/2007 11:44

"Tony Blair is the sycophants sycophant and I can't believe anyone holds so much of a shred of respect for him.

Not only that but he and his cronies have ruined Britain.

I have felt during his "reign" like the boy in The Emperor's New Clothes wondering why no one else can see the obvious. New Labour are nasty through and through, at least with the Tories they didn't pretend to be anything other than b*stards. You knew where you were with the Tories but Labour are sleazy, slimy and two-faced."

thanks Twoif - my obs exactly...I smelled a nasty whiff from New Labour being a Labour voter up until that point.
They got in because Tories were sooo bad and sleazy...country wanted a spring clean with a notion of integrity and honesty....FGS!!

paulaplumpbottom · 06/01/2007 11:46

The dempocrats just want to pick a fight thats all. Its the first time they've had any power in quite a while so they just want to exercise a bit of it.

I agree that I don't think more troops will help, but I do believe that he thinks it will.

Pann · 06/01/2007 11:47

oh and more troops for peace in Iraq?? Does remind of the old slogan "Fighting for peace is like fucking for virginity".

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 11:49

I have voted Lib Dems since being old enough to vote, they never even get close....Its a shame...but you never know!....

yellowrose · 06/01/2007 11:49

Pann, who is that quote from ? It's excellent !

Cappuccino · 06/01/2007 11:55

agree totally with Pruni

and I like him, btw. I still do and I always have.

so there

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 11:57

If Bush thinks more violence will stop the fighting he's bonkers....
It just turns a two way battle into a three way battle!

Pann · 06/01/2007 11:57

Who from??

Someone who had frequented the toilets in the "Wedding House" pub in Liverpool in the early 1980s. Second stall on the left, in the gents, as you walk in, if memeory serves me correctly(prob. still there!).....it was scrawled on the back of the stall door.......

pmsl when I read it, but was in the right place to do so!!!!!!

paulaplumpbottom · 06/01/2007 11:58

Its a cute quote but unfortunatly sometimes fighting is a bit neccessary.

JoolsToo · 06/01/2007 11:58

hang on to your hats!

scary reading

Pann · 06/01/2007 12:00

Aw, paula..we know that! Don't spoil the mood, eh?

paulaplumpbottom · 06/01/2007 12:03

It doesn't suprise me that Cheney and Scummy Rummy would be behind something like that. They are both incrediably evil people.

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 12:04

Lets see what happens next then!!!

Mind you if anything did...wouldn't that be WAY too obvious?????

yellowrose · 06/01/2007 12:05

Pann, the gents's loo, did you say ?

Ah, well completely missed it then because I used the 3rd cubicle from the left in the ladies loo

Caligula · 06/01/2007 12:06

Cappuchino - please talk us through your reasons for liking him. It's a mystery to me and I'd be interested to know why people like him. Everyone I know loathes him, I've always loathed him and was never remotely attracted by him even in the dark days of Major, and so I find it fascinating when people say they like him and wonder why.

OP posts:
suzycreamcheese · 06/01/2007 12:07

pann, i agree we sure are fucking hard for peace right now
this war in iraq, afganistan, toleration of certain dictors (indonesia, etc), vilification of others is part of the declared plan of the neo-cons in washington in power right now to build what they term 'The New American Century' google it, and find out more its scary reading people
i feel we are in the lord of the rings evil v good scenario, and i hope am wrong, very wrong

yellowrose · 06/01/2007 12:09

Isn't Cheney the one who shot his own lawyer by mistake because he thought he was a duck ?

Ok, DO NOT send Cheney to Iraq, he might mistake his own arse for an Iraqi insurgent !

foxinsocks · 06/01/2007 12:09

I don't think he's that bad

but I do think this hanging around where everyone knows he's not going to be leader much longer is not doing anyone any favours

makes him look like an impotent leader (because he is now)

means the Tories are just hanging around because they haven't got someone to fight against

means Gordon is just twiddling his thumbs, buying his time till he is crowned

means there's almost no point in foreign leaders talking to Blair because his influence isn't going to mean much for much longer

I also think Beckett making the statement was yet another sign that Blair's power has dwindled to almost nothing. I can't believe that any other prime minister so involved in the Iraq War (as we have been) would not have made a statement on that.

ludaloo · 06/01/2007 12:10

It all makes me very insecure TBH...since focussing my attentions to the whole political world I don't sleep so well...and It saddens me it really does...

Caligula · 06/01/2007 12:10

LOL at mistaking his lawyer for a duck
