Every now and then I remember exactly why I dislike Tony Blair so much

Like now, when he can't bring himself to comment on Saddam Hussein's execution.

Even Dubya has commented on it, FGS. What is the matter with that pusillanimous creep, our PM? Is he really so afraid of offending someone by saying the wrong thing? Why can't he comment?

Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk, he's horrid.

There, feel a bit better now I've got that off my chest.

lots of newlabourite discussions here today.. oh, its good to vent..

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 19:00

Sure is, esp, as the only other person I can talk to most of the day is a 2.5 yo Let's hope he grows up to hate TB + Bush too, so I can chat to DS when he is a bit older !

suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 20:17

it's 2.9 here!
ds is a laugh but ..well, you know what its like - i've ended up having political discourse with mr pumpkin (children's story teller)
pre-school beckons soon though...

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 21:04

I know what you mean Suzy. Also it's quiet tough striking up a political conversation with mums/dads in a playgroup ! It's like don't talk about sex, religion or politics

Thank goodness we can do it here though

suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 21:24

i know, i know..i like the kids but the parents, they sort of tolerate me!

most of them dont even want a laugh; its either uber competitiveness / smugness or feel its time to speed dial 1 for social services small child in danger..of becoming like their parent...

now i dont care, and with pre-school a'comin its up to ds to be his own social outcast whilst i live it up with 2 1/2 hours to myself...

Roskvawantingsomesunshine · 08/01/2007 21:29

The next pm a horse? Now there's a thought. Although I think the current inhabitant of no. 10 is more Nero than Caligula.

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 21:33

Ah, Suzy, Suzy, you ARE cruel ! I am speed dialing SS right now, how dare you have 2.5 hours of free time to yourself ? That's child neglect !

Shouldn't you be scrubbing floors (On your knees), washing nappies (by hand) and getting the house clean and tidy for hubby to come home to?

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 21:35

Rosk - a horse ? - nay,nay,nay,nay I say !

TwoIfBySea · 08/01/2007 21:37

Sorry if I am repeating anyone else, am stuffed up with the cold and dosed up on medicine.

In reply to Foxinsocks's comment on Saturday: the reason Tories aren't good opposition is that New Labour is more Tory than they are. They have been outToried!

Need to read this whole thread to see if anyone has been sent from Labour HQ to defend their clown prince. I am absolutely positive that they plant people in the Question Time audience, just specific things that have happened that are very curious.

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 21:40

Oh, and as uber-competitive, speed dialing mum, I have already filled in DS application form for Oxford or Cambridge (MPhil in Politics)

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 21:44

Damn right - New Labour have out-Tonied and out-Toried the Tories !

suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 21:52

twoifbysea...very interesting point, it has occured to me to that there are some card carrying members here ...or if i have to drop the conspiracy theory..maybe they are just thick

ys - be as uber as you like missus; I've got the best form ever next to me - pre-school to take my precious, in nappies and before three x2 sessions a week starting NEXT WEEK!!!

anyway, am planning to advise him to be plumber or something useful (so probably means he'll rob me for uni fees then flunk)!

shall we start the political wing of mumsnet?

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 08/01/2007 21:58

What exactly do people want Blair to say about the hanging of Saddam? You are a self-confessed Balir-Hater Caligula.. are you merely disappointed that you have nothing to rip to shreds? How would his comments make a difference?

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 22:00

Flipping heck, some plumbers in London are on 100+ K, so you would be doing him a real favour not to send him to do some arty farty degree in a nobs uni ! Look at me, degrees collecting dust on mantle piece, poor as a door mouse, sob, sob, sob

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 22:02

Shiny, you are 3 days too late ! we have been through all that already, and moved on to horses and plumbers.

Caligula · 08/01/2007 22:02

ShHaPeHoHa - everyone else in the world had made a comment about it.

He was the only one who hadn't.

It looked like he was awaiting instructions on what to say.

That's what irritated me about it. He was asked directly what he thought about it and he chose not to answer.

It reminded me how ghastly he is, that's all.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 08/01/2007 22:04

Yellowrose, yes I know, I've read the thread.. but felt compelled to ask anyway. Pruni said what I wanted to say.. but there was no adequate response (IMO) so I said it again

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 22:06

ShinyHappy - you ain't Shiny and you ain't Happy, you are just a Spoil Sport

99% of us hate Tony here !

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 08/01/2007 22:09

Caligula, you are confusing him with Bush who has trouble with a single uterrance without a puppeteer's hand up his arse and an earpiece reminding him breath-chew-swallow (eg Pretzel! ) Say and think what you like about TB, he is eloquent, intelligent and perfectly able to express himself/answer unprecedented questions at no notice (as any world leader should be at the very least.. Bush is a worry!!). TB is saying nothing with very good reason.

Caligula · 08/01/2007 22:10

What good reason? (I know we're out of date now because he has at last said something, but what good reason did he have for not saying anything?)

OP posts:
suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 22:10

self confessed big blair hater..got a good ring to it that, ..i feel a t-shirt coming on...

ys - no one takes my degree seriously..nor have they ever asked to see it!!

it really appeals to me, a mother and toddler political wing of mumsnet..

suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 22:11

shinyhappy...
are you alastair campbell?

suzycreamcheese · 08/01/2007 22:12

or cherie?

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 08/01/2007 22:14

I can't speak for him (as if! ) but I would imagine it has to with our country's position re the death penalty but nonetheless, the fact that Saddam had it coming. This is something that can never be seen as black and white This is Saddam Hussien we are talking about.. a mass murderer of the highest order! In Blair's position I would too, want to mantain a dignified silence, which, despite the political leanings of the posters on this thread, many believe him to have manintained.

yellowrose · 08/01/2007 22:17

Suzy - I was thinking the same thing re. Campbell - lol !

God, have you ever seen the man being interviewed ? He said he suffered "depression" when advising Blair, but kept it a secret. My arse !

More like he was feeling some very, very, very minute pangs of guilt advising/spinning webs for one of the biggest lying prats in C20th Britain !
