Pinkchampchoccies, Helptheanimals

"Little point in debating with the two individuals. They are experienced provocateurs who want this thread to end thru our exasperation. I recognise the tactics used in studio TV and radio debates."

I suspect this is true. Quite frankly it seems like anything will be said to stop all discussion to come to an organised plan to tackle the actual issue. To rail road discussion of speaking to MPs, to make sure the issue is buried. Which leads to the question what does the poster stand to gain from this?

MorrisZapp · 10/01/2016 21:24

That cof is another effing disgrace to come from the Guardian. Deny, downplay, minimise.

Comparing rape and sexual assault to teenagers getting drunk at New Year? Embarrassing.

And referring to the events as 'what seems to have happened' because they so, so want this story to be untrue.

Calling right wingers 'gleeful' yet not admitting similar exploitation of upsetting images of refugees.

No, I'm sorry. This just plain stinks.

emilybohemia · 10/01/2016 21:26

The momentum in this thread ego is focused largely at immigration and proposed alterations to the present system which already accepts a shamefully low amount of refugees into the UK. The thread has really shifted attention away from violence against women to immigration. A campaign against violence against women regardless of background seems essential to me.

polentapies · 10/01/2016 21:29

Don't engage!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 10/01/2016 21:29

A campaign against violence against women that does not take into account the circumstances of the event is doomed to fail because it does not address the issue.

Pinkchampchoccies · 10/01/2016 21:30

"In einer Kölner Diskothek fiel er im Februar 2014 mit einem Sexualdelikt auf: Er hatte sich mit einem Mittäter Frauen genähert und ihnen ans Gesäß gefasst."

How interesting:

According to FAZ the Syrian guy who was shot for attacking a police station in Paris on the anniversary of the Hebdo shooting shouting „Allahu akbar“ had lived in Germany until the day of the attack.

He was know to the police for various offences including sexual harassment.

I am disappointed you say that Einstein. If the thread is being manipulated, it is to shift attention toward anti immigration campaigning, rather than campaigning against sexual violence. Although the majority of posters seem poorly informed and prejudiced rather than manipulating the thread.

onthephone100 · 10/01/2016 21:32

That's weird, I left two comments on the latest guardian article. One has disappeared without trace - no "this comment has been deleted" or anything Confused

The one they left is the one which says I used to be behind the immigration policy (obviously followed by a rather large but)

Did anyone else notice how when they listed the suspects they put the two Germans, one American and one other (I forget who) first then hastily listed "and 18 migrants" second like your brain would just skip over it and you wouldn't realise?

It's like school newspaper day at the local primary school.

Incidentally I spotted Beesimo, bless her Smile

Oh sweet divine Jesus emily - why don't we FOCUS our group on disobedience of the ten commandments. Worldwide.

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE FOCUSING AND CAMPAIGNING ON ONE ISSUE?

onthephone100 · 10/01/2016 21:35

I was jut thinking that - she's tenacious, and I'm starting to have a grudging admiration for that! Grin

yepp, how much do we have to pay to get him/her on 'our' side? Grin

Pinkchampchoccies · 10/01/2016 21:37

Regarding media coverage, I would like to say that the Telegraph has had the best reporting on this topic.

onthephone100 · 10/01/2016 21:41

Is article by The Daily Beast was excellent too.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 10/01/2016 21:46

The Guardian coverage has been awful

the one about the male refugee wtf he couldn't cook as women had always cooked for him (like no male refuges will have ever cooked) so fucking what he could cook if you didn't it was utter drivel with a reminder of what a wonder person she is for taking in a male refugee

how many stories will the Guardian have this week of nice refugees who are appalled at what has happened Hmm

Pinkchampchoccies · 10/01/2016 21:47

Yes Onthephone that's a great article, thank you.

From the article:
There was “a clear statistical connection between sexual violence and male migrants.”

Pinkchampchoccies · 10/01/2016 21:49

And another shocker from the article:

Martin Thalhammer, the headmaster at Wilhelm-Diess-Gymnasium, a school in Pocking, Bavaria, sent a letter home to parents advising them that “Syrian citizens are mainly Muslims and speak Arabic. The refugees are marked by their own culture. Because our school is directly next to where they are staying, modest clothing should be adhered to, in order to avoid discrepancies. Revealing tops or blouses, short shorts or miniskirts could lead to misunderstandings.”
Shock

MistressDeeCee · 10/01/2016 21:50

Did anyone see Friday night's newsclip about this? They were featuring a young north African man who goes to Cologne Station every day, works as a volunteer helping new arrivals to Cologne etc. Female reporter. The first part of clip was watching him go about his work, helping others. All good. But when she asked him about the incidents the FIRST thing he said was "its not their fault, they arrive new to this country can't find work and are upset and vulnerable". More was said but I didn't tune in so much..was just watching the reporter's jaw hang in shock, and he was still talking over her!

It really dawned on me then that despite all the liberalism about these men, there simply is not any sense that what was done is offensive, and wrong. At all.

Bienchen · 10/01/2016 21:52

Onthephone unbelievable that the international press is more on tha ball then mainstream German media. Die Welt is leading the field, where are the women's groups??? Alice Schwarzer took a stand but since her tax evasion she is even less credible than before in my opinion.

polentapies · 10/01/2016 21:53

"Onthephone"

That's the best article I have read on this. I had forgotten about the Daily Beast - well done them. And am I right that it is an Muslim man who wrote this? Fucking yeh!

emilybohemia · 10/01/2016 21:53

Enthusiasm, I see your hate. It doesn't matter if he could cook or not or if he is traditional. That doesn't make him a sex attacker or criminal or more likely to be one. Countless British blokes are like that. Many German blokes probably expect the wife to cook, do you side eye them too? You're not concerned about attacks on women. You just hate refugees. I see your hate.

There is something wrong with campaigning against male sexual violence whilst linking it to one group. You demonised that group. I think pinkchamp knows this, as she mentioned not making too big a deal of immigration when writing to mps. She knows the racist connotations.

polentapies · 10/01/2016 21:57

No no no!! you don't you don't you dont'!!!!!
