phew glad i didnt get pounced on

themoon66 · 23/11/2006 19:42

I read in the paper at work this morning that psychiatric reports indicated that he was not mentally ill at all.

I do wish people wouldn't use the 'mental illness' tag as an excuse for terrible behaviour. I know an awful lot of people with serious mental illness and I feel it debases their very real problems. And I don't know any of them them that would go around biting swans or similar!

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 19:44

Very well said.

it's very odd behaviour though isn't it?

themoon66 · 23/11/2006 20:01

Odd behaviour to the British... perhaps not so odd in his culture. I suppose a swan is a bird, much like a turkey or chicken in his mind. Perhaps he sees us as hypocrites getting all hot and bothered about 'just a bird'.

Then again... some people are just plain nasty and bad.

joelallie · 23/11/2006 20:07

And there was nothing else to eat??? They're big, strong birds - I'm quite amazed he could tackle one TBH.

'I hate this country'. Makes you want to ask the obvious question doesn't it?

Callisto · 23/11/2006 20:12

It is just a bloody bird fgs. Not a particularly nice thing to do and I am sure he could have got a chicken from his nearest Tesco as easily but kicking someone out of 'our country' for killing a swan? Dear oh dear. Personally I think his 'I hate the Queen, I hate this country.' comment was far worse.

BTW how many of you who have posted here are vegetarians?

7up · 23/11/2006 20:16

yes youre right actually callisto, his comments were probably worse and a bitworrying

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 20:16

not me, but i never fancy cutting a duck's throat or biting one when i see them in the park, however tasty it looks. it's illegal to kill swans anyhow, they belong to the queen.

Carmenere · 23/11/2006 20:20

I agree with callisto, it is only a bird ffs. And he sounds like a nutter, not particularly dangerous. The 'I hate the Queen and this country' comments would imply that he is pretty thick as you would have to be crazy to state that in this day and age if you really were a terrorist.

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 20:25

What do u mean 'it's only a bird'? it has just as much right on this earth as u. If someone done the same to your cat or dog i am sure u wouldn't be saying ''oh well, it was only a cat or dog'.

anyway why did he need to eat if he was fasting? thought that you didnt eat anything, strange

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 20:39

yeah. thought that was strange too.

OP posts:
Carmenere · 23/11/2006 20:39

Yes I would be say it is only an animal if it was a cat or a dog, cruel maybe but not as important as human beings in my opinion.
During Ramadan Muslims fast during daylight hours. They are permitted to eat after dark.

7up · 23/11/2006 20:43

oh yea now you mention it i remember from school that they eat after dark, still strange behaviour though. at least he got put away for it, would have been really annoying if he'd got away with it

alexa1 · 23/11/2006 20:43

then eat a f**ing sandwhich then, don't kill an innocent creature.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 23/11/2006 20:44

exactly doesn't he have a 24hours tescos!

7up · 23/11/2006 20:45

alexa, love the sandwich comment

Callisto · 23/11/2006 20:55

I take it that you are a vegetarian then Alexa? I am quite happy that innocent creatures die for my pleasure. Nothing better than a nice rib of beef, better than a sarnie any day.

Carmenere · 23/11/2006 20:57

Indeed callisto at least that swan had a free range existance unlike the meat in the Tesco sandwich as prescribed by Alexa!
