Girl in Magaluf giving oral sex to 24 men for free drink

We we were talking about this at work today, and the majority verdict was that this girl is a slapper and will do anything for a free drink.
This may well be true.
However, I was trying to make a point about the objectification of women and how this would never happen the other way around. I couldn't explain myself properly and ended up looking an idiot Blush
Can someone help me explain what I mean.
Maybe this should be in Feminist Chat?

At least she could get the rep for fraud.

Maybe not, but I do wonder what the laws in Magaluf say about procuring for the purposes of prostitution.

Seriously, I hope there is someone with a better legal brain than mine, scouring the laws of the region to see if they can nail something on the rep that set this up.

(Do we know his name, or the company he works for?)

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 13:21

She's not disgusting, but her behaviour certainly was.

7Days · 04/07/2014 13:22

Agree with Annie - young girls have a hard line to walk these days.

specialsubject · 04/07/2014 13:32

the 'can't win' described is only if you move in these kinds of circles. I don't think the entire 18-30 age bracket is this primitive.

as for the idea of legal action for fraud - I don't think so!

she's no worse or better than anyone else involved, although she will take all the flack. Nasty all round.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 13:44

I wonder what's happened between generations X and Y to make the latter so much more promiscuous, though.

I know for a fact that one of the orientation weeks for a particular faculty at our local university involves lots of after-hours group sex. They all know who's done what (eg, 'spit roasts' Hmm) with whom, and it's no big deal.

Just read a newspaper article that theorized it's because this generation drinks much more heavily. I really don't think so. I lived at a university residential college in the '90s, and we drank like fish on the regular and passed out all over the place, but there wasn't the amount of random/public sex going on.

porn Koala, in a word (invho)

PhoebeMcPeePee · 04/07/2014 13:47

I went on a couple of 18-30 holidays back in the day (nearly 20 yrs ago) & saw some pretty Shock things usually of a sexual nature - always egged on by the reps & cheered on by the crowd. Horrible, degrading, embarrassing & dangerous at times but nothing new except for camera phones & social media.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 13:49

7Days, I think you're right. Sad

TucsonGirl · 04/07/2014 14:01

Plus I think all the publicity around AIDS had a big effect on the behaviour on the youth of the 80s and 90s. I always got the impression that the generaition before that was more debauched (first to have the pill, legalised abortion etc) so maybe Generation X was a deviation from the general trend.

7Days · 04/07/2014 14:11

it's something to do with the concept of privacy, people put any old shit on fb, have rows on there, 'undignified' photos (there's an old gimmer word), all sorts of baring your soul all throughout the media. Add to that the performative, service providing (for women) form of sex that porn promotes. It's a perfect storm, really.

Very badly put but maybe someone can get what I mean

Mintyy · 04/07/2014 14:17

Of course its porn! D'oh.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 14:17

I absolutely get what you mean. And I agree.
God, the more I think about it, the more depressing it gets.

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2014 16:31

And the rep is on twitter, laughing and calling the young woman a "slag". What a fucking douchewomble.

(He's also insulting the womanhood of Wales, so I hope he gets clobbered the instant he steps across the borders, should be ever go there.)

Tiredemma · 04/07/2014 17:04

I worked in magaluf 15 years ago- as did DP (he was actually an 18-30 rep),

This behaviour isnt anything new- the only difference between now and then is the filming of it on mobile phones.

Hideous.

MikeLitoris · 04/07/2014 17:05

What's his twitter name?

Hopefully the company he works for sees it and he gets fired.

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 17:29

Shock I'm not a violent person, but I want to kick that rep in the balls myself!

Please, let there be a twitter outcry so that gets sacked. Fuckhead.

Mintyy · 04/07/2014 17:35

ArcheryAnnie - what is his name?

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2014 17:44

The prince in question is called @alan_collinson. He's apparently deleted the tweet calling the young woman a slag, but plenty of other people have RTd it anyway.

One of his mates, an Internet Lawyer Type, has sent warning tweets to a woman who described Collinson as a "pimp".

The firm he works for is called @Carnagemagaluff, and they seem to be busy claiming she was totes sober and it was all totes consensual.

In the meantime, other people on twitter have pointed out Collinson appears to have form for serious douchebaggery,: www.thefreelibrary.com/STAG+PARTY+BATTERED+BY+KICKBOXER+TOUR+REP%3B+Groom%27s+jaw+broken+in...-a0366705350

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2014 17:45

Sorry, that's @carnagemagalluf (one f, two ls)

KoalaDownUnder · 04/07/2014 17:56

Oh, he sounds lovely. As does the classy company he works for. Hmm

Snorting at the list of 'celebs' that Carnage Magaluf had lined up for appearances at their pub crawls this summer. Have only a vague clue who or what 'Towie' or 'White Dee (Benefits Street)' is, but am getting the general idea.

duchesse · 04/07/2014 18:04

Okaaay. Front page of a tabloid.

Basically, she is just really underselling her services, isn't she? I know that sex work is a feminist topic, with good reason, but is this really any different? Being paid in kind is still transactional sex, no? I see nothing to get too hot under the collar about. Why the heck is it front page news though?

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2014 18:07

Because the tabloids will take any opportunity to write a salacious story, duchesse, and if a young woman is dragged through the mud (while, mysteriously, the 24 men who also participated are not), so much the better for them.

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 04/07/2014 18:17

it's all disgusting but I don't think it necessarily means she must be a victim of abuse. People do fucking stupid things under the influence and this is a fine example.

ArcheryAnnie · 04/07/2014 18:23

But whatever the facts of the initial act, in the aftermath she's being absolutely pilloried, and the men are getting away with it. As usual.

And the rep - whatever the condition of the woman involved, whether she was able to meaningfully consent or not - behaved certainly disgracefully, and potentially criminally, too, depending on what the laws on soliciting and/or procuring are like in Mallorca.
