Basically woman driving £££ Audi 4x4 tank around Richmond, with children in the back, has argument with autistic cyclist, and drives her car at him in attempt to kill or seriously injure. Succeeds only in demolishing the front of the hair salon.

Hopefully she gets an appropriate sentence commensurate with using a deadly weapon. Doubt it though.

I suppose its likely that the insurance won't pay out for damage to the shop because it wasn't an accident. I hope she has some assets that can be seized to pay for the damage.

I hope she goes to jail. I suspect some soft judge will give her a pathetic sentence because she has five children who would suffer if she is put in jail.

Third-party car insurance is a legal minimum, so the salon will be covered, but the driver obviously won't get anything for her Q7.

Although I suppose with the Q7 + five kids, and the wealth in that area, it's a good chance she's pretty loaded so the insurance company might try to claim the money off her for the third-party claim.

Thank heavens no one was hurt. I'm not sure why it's relevant that the cyclist had a disability. He shouldn't have kicked her car, she shouldn't have used that as an excuse to kill him.

lljkk it is obviously relevant, the cyclist was wearing a badge to the effect that he was autistic (not sure exactly what the badge said), so he would have impaired social skills and hence not as good as average at dealing with confrontation or knowing when to back down versus a psychopath armed with a 2-tonne lethal weapon.

The fact that he was wearing a badge should have been an indicator to the woman also, but maybe she doesn't understand what autism is.

She needs to lose her license for life!

This actually happened in my town last year. Local thug spotted a man he had a grudge with, drive at him, missed him and ploughed through the window of beauty salon.

This is all a bit speculative. She's been arrested, not charged (yet). I'd guess the police would arrest in such a serious situation but we have absolutely no idea if she was actually trying to kill the poor chap. As for it being a £££ car and her having five kids...the OP has almost Daily Mail standards of reporting.

She might have just had a really bad accident and lost control of the car. Obviously her driving is a massive concern but the badge is irrelevant - you wouldn't see a badge if you were driving.

doubt she could have seen the badge if she was driving behind him and wouldn't have had time to read it surely. Don't think the value of the car is particularly relevant - the two times I've been threatened by road ragers they were in an old banger. I don't think his condition excuses him from kicking the car either. That's said, stupid, stupid woman for losing control of herself like that.

It said they had had a heated argument which i assume he was facing her for so she would have see the badge.

not necessarily no, people don't normally get out of their cars when arguing with cyclists - I work in central London and see at least one such incident a day from my office window.

Well it does say there was a 'heated argument', which normally would result from the cyclist being unhappy with the driver's driving, and stopping to remonstrate with her. So she wouldn't have just him from behind without having seen him, they had a confrontation prior to that.

But it's true she wouldn't necessarily have seen his badge.

I hope for her sake it was an accident because any intention to knock a cyclist over with a car could be easily fir seen to cause a fair bit if damage! The cyclist must have had someone smiling down on him that day to have escaped with a cut.

No argument is worth that, no matter what either party did. It's on a road with other road uses and pedestrians on oaths and cyclists, could have killed someone

No i didnt assume she had gotten out of her car. I assumed they argued through the car window, facing each other. Argument suggests he spoke to her rather than her just talking at the back of his head.

I think I've just experienced my first ever pro-death penalty tingle (had she killed him). I fervently hope she gets a custodial sentence and that she loses custody of her children as a result (for their sake).

so you can't imagine a scenario whereby you're high up in a car, behind a cyclist who is facing front and turning round to shout at you over his shoulder, wearing a few cm diameter badge with writing on it what, a cm or so high (have you ever seen a badge with writing bigger than that?), sun possibly in your eyes, heat of the moment, everything happening at once, and not being able to see/read/take in some information on that badge? Odd.

Anyway I doubt she actually tried to hit him, probably just lost control of a large, unwieldy great car in the stress and kerfuffle of the situation. Not that that excuses either of them imo.

Even if she hadn't seen the badge, you have to be seriously, SERIOUSLY mentally imbalanced to attack a human being on a bike with a large vehicle.

You can see from the picture that she did drive over the bike at some point, because the rear wheel is crushed.
