...for foetuses with Downs Syndrome and other disabilities. Can't believe it. I hope that any Mumsnetters living in Kent can get out and vote for someone else! Link is to Gravesend Reporter.

They are evil and over

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:04

It is. The vast majority of women who find out terminate. It is not a "significant" minority. It is a tiny number who chose to keep the baby. Children who are outside the norm are not seen as desirable. This guy and those who terminate both think that.

AnyFucker · 01/05/2014 21:05

Wips, this isn't a Pro Life debate

This is about forced abortions

6% is significant enough for the 6% of women in this position that it comprises

I will say it again, your point is not relevant

MrsBungle · 01/05/2014 21:08

What a repulsive oaf.

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:09

It's actually not your job to tell me what's relevant.

Whether they are forced to or chose to have an abortion the bottom line is the same. Children with DS are seen as less desirable / a drain on society.

For the vast majority you wouldn't need to force them anyway, they choose it for themselves because they share this guys views.

It's great that 6% choose to keep their children, but it's a tiny minority who have the strength to do this.

AlpacaYourThings · 01/05/2014 21:09

Sorry, Wips. You are spectacularly missing the point.

Here's an example:

I would choose to have sex with DH. Does that mean I should be forced to have sex with him?

LoveSardines · 01/05/2014 21:09

To equate women and couples who have gone through the tests and the shock and the thinking and the decision, and decided to terminate, with a man who wants to force women to undergo terminations against their will, is disgusting.

Your posts on this thread are disgraceful.

sourdrawers · 01/05/2014 21:10

Extremist nut-job, reactionary tossers that make up this foul party will soon burn out and be an unpleasant memory IMO. It seems no matter what has gone on in the world throughout history, wars, revolution, Britain is immune to extreme political ideologies. Religious, and anti-establishment ones. They've ( I can't even bring myself to write the name) had a bit of 'success' despite not having a single representative in Parliament, because of the MP's expenses scandal and the disconnect people feel with the mainstream politicians. It'll pass, and the sooner the better.

AlpacaYourThings · 01/05/2014 21:10

Wips, your last post is fucking VILE.

MadBusLady · 01/05/2014 21:11

Bollocks wips, there is no equivalency whatsoever between choosing to terminate in a certain situation yourself and believing that everyone in that situation should terminate. You are being wilfully obtuse, probably because you are strongly opposed to termination in that instance yourself.

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:11

No it's not.

LoveSardines · 01/05/2014 21:12

"Whether they are forced to or chose to have an abortion the bottom line is the same."

Well look-e-here.

The bottom line is the same for the foetus.

It is not the same for the woman, one of whom has chosen to have a medical intervention to end her pregnancy, and the other who has been forced against her will to have a medical termination to end her pregnancy.

Typical anti-abortion person, the woman is utterly irrelevant to them.

Fucking DISGRACEFUL.

AmberLeaf · 01/05/2014 21:12

The vast majority of women who find out terminate. It is not a "significant" minority. It is a tiny number who chose to keep the baby. Children who are outside the norm are not seen as desirable. This guy and those who terminate both think that

It isn't simply 'desirability'

The massive impact on the lives of the whole family are a huge factor in any decision to terminate.

This man just thinks they shouldn't be born, despite it having no effect on him personally.

The mindset of this man and women facing that decision are not the same. At all.

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:13

I am not wrongly opposed but I think people need to be honest that among the reasons they give for terminating, the fear of having a child who is "different" is one of the,

AnyFucker · 01/05/2014 21:13

Wips, I am trying to understand you

The UKIP stance is massively massively disablist and fucking shocking. Yes, we agree on that. Society in general can be massively disablist. Yup, ticks box.

But would you force a woman to carry a pregnancy that she did not want ? That is the question.

Figster · 01/05/2014 21:13

The whole party is an abomination and I'm terrified that people seem to support them as a credible party.

turgiday · 01/05/2014 21:13

There have been so many UKIP candidates that have come out with shocking statements. Like the guy who said that the flooding was caused by gay marriage. I am amazed that some people support this party.

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:14

Sorry, strongly opposed to abortion that should say.

LoveSardines · 01/05/2014 21:14

Ooh I'm spitting.

Some people don't have the fucking compassion of a microbe.

I haven't seen posts as utterly revolting as this for a good while on here, and I have been on some pretty ripe abortion threads lately.

Just Jesus-fucking-christ, unbelievable and revolting and disgusting. What kind of vile individual writes / thinks this crap?

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:16

No I would not force someone to carry a baby they didn't want. But the fewer children there are with downs the more frightening / unacceptable / scary it becomes.

LoveSardines · 01/05/2014 21:16

NO the question is why WIPS has a firm and genuine belief that just because a woman has chosen to have an abortion, it means she would be keen and eager to force other women to have them against their will.

That is a preposterous and disgusting statement and I am just blown away that someone would even think that for a split second, let alone post it.

AnyFucker · 01/05/2014 21:16

I am shocked and disgusted with you, Wips.

And so it becomes harder to be strong and keep the baby.

WipsGlitter · 01/05/2014 21:18

Are you calling me a cunt?
