For all of you who don't understand the disgust with the Daily Mail...

I have just been told they have published an article about John Hemming in which they name me. Both my real name and my user name.

Luckily for me I don't care. Luckily for me I decided long ago I would never put anything on line that I would be ashamed/upset/frightened for anyone else to read.

But for lots of people this would be a complete and utter disaster. People post really personal and sensitive stuff on this site about the worst times of their lives, looking for help and support. They must know that.

Note that they never bothered contacting me to find out which category I fell into.

So if anyone wants to start another wide eyed innocent thread - o I just don't understand why you all hate the Daily Mail so much!

Does this kind of thing help you understand a little more?

I will link to the scum bags but only because I hope people might leave some 'helpful' comments about JH.

Oh my God, you used to teach me Grin Not that that makes it right that they outed you, of course.

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 09:28

Thing is, without the MP on the end of his name .... his authority and credibility sink. It won't stop everybody from being vulnerable to him, that is undoable, but it will seriously hamper him. Over time he'll sink into obscurity becuase sans the parlimentary platform he is going to be hard pushed to command the sort of media attention he has had more recently.

Plus there is also the question of a being in front of Judge Munby. And the IC complaint could prove deeply uncomfortable. The DP nerds say what he did here makes for a compelling case. All that may well lead to him being a bit busy and distracted for a bit.

Pretty sure the kool aid drinkers will knight him Martyr to the Cause "he knew too much, so they persecuted him!" But that sort of status can be something of a millstone. Nice normal MP has a wider appeal than David Ike 2.0

Penguin

Me ?

Please don't tell me you were a teenager who has now all grown up and make me feel old Grin

I recently worked out that the Italian teenagers I tried desperatly to corall and stop doing Norty Things the summer I came here...are all in their 30s.

I just about curled up in a ball at that point.

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 10:20

No, you mean Spero ?

Right ?

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 10:30

Carpe, I will be a great-aunt this summer Grin.
Damn DH and his much, much older sibs

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 11:13

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 12:23

Thse are NOT chin hairs !

They are stray eyebrow hairs.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

I feel better now Penguin I have decided no former Squirty I taught is ever going to be old enough to post on mumsnet.

Tis Law.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 09/01/2014 16:43

That pinterest is very clever. I don't get pinterest Confused

Well, I get what it is, I just don't see the point of it...

And you think you are the old gimmers! Grin
your former italian teenagers are older than me

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 18:09

I don't get pinterest, but.... had a nasty addiction to it for a while when it was new.

I wanted a job where I could sit pinning all day. I think by pinning things I was able to thunk of myself as creative, without ever blocking the kitchen drain thingie with cement ever again.

It is a damn sight less hard work than stressing over the layout of a website proper. Plus it sort of lets people pick what they want to see, like a visual buffet. Although that many pics of his mush in one place has done nothing for my disgestion. Grin

Panorama next Monday BBC1 9pm "I want my baby back"
Give me strength
We've been warned.

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 22:51

For once I intend to be quite pleased I don't get British telly.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 22:51

The trailer makes me fear the worst...

confuddledDOTcom · 10/01/2014 03:21

BBC Breakfast is trailing the panorama programme this morning.

JH doing a piece to camera, stating his advice to go abroad because of scale of misuse of powers. Then story of a family where medical evidence was wrong, and family now exonerated and child returned. Then increase in numbers taken into care. Then LA type saying that this meant more children protected. Then General comment at Govt acknowledges need for reform of family court system. Reporter: John Sweeny

Next being shown at 08:20.

Spero · 13/01/2014 07:14

I was delighted to find on Twitter last night Martin Narey warning against taking John Hemming seriously because 'he is the MP who has been banned by mumsnet'.

I have read the Times article where JH repeats his 'advice' to parents to flee the jurisdiction rather than engage with LA.

Yes, we need to improve the system, improve transparency and accountability. But his approach is dangerous.

I will be watching with interest.

BTW: just to be clear - what the BBC Breakfast is running isn't only the standard programme trailer (though that is being shown as well); it's a longer item that finishes with a reference to Panorama.

Spero · 13/01/2014 07:23

how interesting, sorry I didn't pick up on that, thought you just meant a trailer.

How on earth this man gets so much space in newspapers and on television is beyond me.

Martin Narey certainly seems to have got his number.

I just saw this headline & my first thought was "Urgh, I bet he will be involved."

ScrambledSmegs · 13/01/2014 12:42

Oops. Just started a thread about that article, sorry Gnu.

Lilka · 13/01/2014 13:43

I'm dreading the panorama tonight, but I will be watching

I don't think it's going to have any sensible discussion of a difficult issue (wrong diagnosis of a medical problem in rare cases), I think it's going to be a very sensationalist program which castigates all social workers and doctors with little more than a token statement from a professional at the end
