For all of you who don't understand the disgust with the Daily Mail...

I have just been told they have published an article about John Hemming in which they name me. Both my real name and my user name.

Luckily for me I don't care. Luckily for me I decided long ago I would never put anything on line that I would be ashamed/upset/frightened for anyone else to read.

But for lots of people this would be a complete and utter disaster. People post really personal and sensitive stuff on this site about the worst times of their lives, looking for help and support. They must know that.

Note that they never bothered contacting me to find out which category I fell into.

So if anyone wants to start another wide eyed innocent thread - o I just don't understand why you all hate the Daily Mail so much!

Does this kind of thing help you understand a little more?

I will link to the scum bags but only because I hope people might leave some 'helpful' comments about JH.

Where in Twitter should we be popping over to?

SantasPelvicFloor · 07/01/2014 18:14

Ditto

CarpeVinum · 07/01/2014 18:35

Here

@LorelyBurt: As @LibDems Deputy Leader I would show the Tories for what they are - incapable of delivering a #fairersociety for everyone #Lorely4Deputy

We are disputing how fair society feels when in company of libDem politcos and how planks in own eye need first attention TYVM

Spero · 07/01/2014 18:39

Have done sarky response.

And thank you tiredemma for the lovely article you posted to me. It is currently pinned up above my desk so I have JH glowering at me.

It's a real incentive to work efficiently.

My absolute pleasure.

@Carpe

I think LibDem are a mess. Sorry if I'm offending some of the voters but for someone who's not a voter (yet) some points of their political scheme seems more of a mess than anything Labours or Tories are doing...
By chance I stumbled on the 'slip' Hemming did with the university tuition fees that were raised a couple of years ago... I mean, LibDem are promoting free higher education for everyone (like in Scotland) and Hemming voted to raise the fees up to 9,000 £ per year... I guess that in Hemming's budget 9,000£ must appear so much of a nothing that it means 'free'... Or did I get stuck in some kind of weird reasoning? Sorry, studying too much these days, might have fried all the braincells.

Whatfun · 08/01/2014 09:29

Ah yes Lokils, but slippery Nick Clegg explained that away beautifully. Apparently they only said they would vote for free tuition if they were voted into power. As they weren't actually voted into power ( just went after it shamelessly) then they can do whatever they want. Smile

Personally I think they have shown themselves to be so spineless that Nick Clegg has ruined his political career and the party will have massive losses in the next election. They have shown themselves to be completely untrustworthy.

Tiredemma · 08/01/2014 09:33

whatfun

absolutely- they have shown themselves to be a party with no credibility. All for getting a few seats in the Cabinet- but not having any voice. The people who voted for them must be chomping at the bit.

Spero · 08/01/2014 09:43

I am ashamed to say I voted for them but only on basis they were less appallingly dishonest than the other two.

So that's worked out well. Once they got a whiff of power, principles out the window.

Next election looney fringe candidate gets my protest vote.

Whatfun · 08/01/2014 12:06

Spero I voted for them as we'll. Never again. But, I would rather die than vote for the Tory Boys, and just can't bring myself to like,or trust, Ed Milliband. I think he will bring the country to its knees

Well, contrarily to what they believe, they lost a lot of support for voting in favour of the tuition fees rise, it seems ridiculous to say this but it was the Tories that promoted the bill and they ended up with more support later because of the 'untrustworthiness' of the Labours following the issue. Clegg and Miliband dragged the whole party down.

Spero

So if I start a party I get your vote? Hmm Might be an idea for a future career Grin Just joking.........

nennypops · 08/01/2014 17:46

I too voted for the Lib Dems, and indeed they won in my constituency. But, as I have pointed out to them subsequently, when they asked for my vote they never once mentioned that they would support the tuition fees rise, the sell-off of the NHS, bedroom tax, the decimation of legal aid, the continued awarding of mahoosive government contracts to the likes of ATOS, SERCO and G4S, the diversion of billions to private companies to set up dubious free schools and academies, and numerous other iniquities. They have shown their true colours and I see no reason to trust them ever again. It's true to say, therefore, that they lost my vote well before Hemmings reared his head, but he certainly puts the cap on it.

Tiredemma · 08/01/2014 18:08

Im a staunch Labour supporter- but even I would struggle to find confidence in Milliband.

NoseWiperExtraordinaire · 08/01/2014 19:06

I voted Lib Dem, having voted labour previously. I just cannot take Milliband seriously, Balls even less so. Vince seems to have the most reasonable financial mind out of the three, although he too voted against investigating the use of food banks (having raised the issue last year though Confused).

For a while I kept my disappointment at broken promises at bay, by wondering what really would have happened if the coalition had not been agreed, perhaps it was the lesser of three two evils. I'm not sure what else the lib dems could have done, I feel sure pulling out would have caused more problems and they were certainly had by the short and curlies over lots of things, but all this is tipping me beyond the point of no return.

Think will go back to voting green just to keep it on the agenda.

LostInWales · 08/01/2014 20:24

Hello I have Stupid Arthritis (official name, honest) and having a mega massive flare up, can't/shouldn't really type but I am still here standing behind you lot, should be back in action after weekend, fingers crossed (carefully). Will try retweeting a bit tomorrow but gives me mad, painful claw hands if I do too much. See you in a few days.

ouryve · 08/01/2014 20:58

Afraid to say that I voted libdem, too - safe in the knowledge that I live in the labourest of labour constituencies imaginable. Green is my normal protest vote, but if they had their way, they'd have us all cut off from amenities or travelling by increasingly crumbling and increasingly inadequate roads up here. Their brand of idealism is only workable in cities.

(At least Blair isn't our MP, anymore.)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 08/01/2014 21:11

lost my Stupid Arthritis flaring means I end up spending more time on here, as I can't move off the sofa Grin

LostInWales · 08/01/2014 21:35

I used to do that (over Christmas I actually did get stuck on the sofa and had to send a DC for help Grin ) but now it's really hit my hands and wrists I get involuntary spasm things that make my fingers curl in and it hurts, plus I am a wimp. So off the computer Losty . Electric blanket and bed for me, I am so rock and roll. (do you think if this ^^ works we could start another petition to get it properly called Stupid Arthritis?)

ouryve · 08/01/2014 21:50

My Stupid Arthritis is a difficult one as it's caused by ridiculously loose ligaments. I need to rest the sore bits but exercise the bits that support them and stop them from getting sore. And I get pissed off when I can't be fiddling with stuff with my hands. Properly bored.

Which reminds me - time for drugs - washed down with wine cos I've had a crap evening and I hurt. Unlike some, I'll not be disclosing any confidential information.

Whatfun · 08/01/2014 21:51

Lost
My arthritis has flared up as well. Cold weather maybe? My hands are awful. They are very sore and throbby. I hate it.

Devora · 08/01/2014 22:45

Yep, arthritis here too. What a bunch of crocks we are.

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 08:49

Oh I'm sorry you are all having such a rough time of it Sad

LokiIsMine · 09/01/2014 09:03

Lost and Stupid Arthritis group
Thanks big hug! My mum has that and yes it is incredibly painful.

I don't have arthritis, but I have problems to back, arms and fingers too (yes, a thread would be needed to explain it!).

Devora, yes what a bunch of crocks lol

CarpeVinum · 09/01/2014 09:04

If it helps any electoral calculus predicts a certain politico will lose his seat

www.electoralcalculus.co.uk/conlist_a_b.html#BirminghamYardley

Reckon the data was complied before anything ever happened here, so we can't take a crumb of credit. But it did cheer me up when I saw it.

Given the prediction, don't understand why LibDems don't at least try and grab some credibility by taking a stand on his conduct. At least they'd salvage something.

PacificDogwood · 09/01/2014 09:14

Oh dear, that does not look good Grin.

That's cheered me up no end, so thanks.
I am looking forward to the petition, nonetheless.

I'd like a bit more of a result than just a loss of seat tbh - ideally loss of credibility so vulnerable people won't get sucked in by him and his ilk.
